Video may be a bit harsh, mainly meant as a heads up. Obviously my anecdotal and personal experience is very limited. I’m sure there’s tons of MTR’s that work just fine you never hear about- but of all the ppl complaining about out of the box issues it seems to be most common with the MTRs fwiw
Another issue I ran into was the bolt lock. With the ambi bolt release being heavier, it does not have enough time to lift up when using GG or propane ( like fitting a B.A.D. lever to your regular bolt release). It would not work reliably OOTB even with unscrewing the buffer tube a few turns. I had to use a heavier after-market buffer to slow down the cycling rate to fix this.
My MTR was having those issues, i drilled and tapped a hole into the front of the trigger guard just under the securing pin and put a 3mm cap head bolt 8mm long in there, this works great as it rotates the mag backwards and you can fine tune all the play out of it by adjusting the bolt in or out just be careful to only tap threads in 3/4 of the hole so you can use this as a way of having a tight thread.
Thanks a lot, I actually saw the other video you mentioned and it helped me when I ran into this issue! I have the MTR16 and I can confirm I have had the same problem. After about 6 months of use, I had an issue with the mag catch cracking in half. Seems to me like once the mag catch, mags, and mag well got a little worn, the mags wouldn't sit as high. With the extra play, the front of the mag tilts downward causing the bolt to right over the feed lips leading to a jam followed by your entire mag gassing out. I replaced the mag catch, but none of them seem to be the right spec so I had to shim the shelf upwards (I'm not sure if this is an issue with the MTR being different or if it is the after-market mag catches being out of spec). That and some E tape in the mag well and there is no more play and it runs great again. Still, I would not recommend the MTR. The silver paint on the bolt is so bad it looks like styrofoam, If they had the MWS in stock I would have gone with that.
Yes the ambi mag catch seems to be an issue too forgot to mention that, my buddy also had a problem with it getting stuck and we chopped the ambi spring a tad which helped. Mine gets stuck a bit too but works decent enough
please help me! when i finish my bb s the bolt dosent lock back with the slide....it s brand new first mag why is it like this please help me!.....it is the gold edition...the test was with a full mag of gas and a few bbs....the mag was at the room tempreture when the test was done....i don t have any ideea why the bolt and the slide dosen t get locked back when the mag is empty
Funny. I have a MTR and I had a MWS CQBR. The CQBR broke 2 original TM nozzles, one of them in the very first game. Worked fine with Guns Modify nozzles tho. Sold it a week ago. My MTR never had any issues, runs flawlessly and I've put more rounds on it than the CQBR ever did.
Glad to hear! Obviously I’m a small sample size, just speaking from personal and anecdotal experience. These things can happen to anyone and there’s a bunch of variables with each individual setups. Sounds like the stock tm nozzle was the issue there though. Swapping to a GM nozzle can fix a lot of feeding issues

Had my (Gold) MTR for a year and a half now and never had a single one of these issues you speak of. I think you're crazy.
Glad yours works well. Not the first person to make that claim!
I own a gold MTW and has had every single one of those issues, and more!
I bought the MTR when it first came out I’ve had no issues with mine? Maybe it’s just a batch issue.
Yup could be. My mtr lower has been good to me on multiple uppers. The complaints seem to have been from the last year or so
i have cycle issues with the mtr 16 tokyo marui

Check my video on tuning the buffer system- also a lightweight zet plate like the bavtac zet plate may help
Not sure why people want the MTR in the first place. I guess it’s the ambi controls. - Dandelion045
That’s one reason, or looks/preference, also the fact it’s a clean receiver and can be laser engraved to the trades of your liking
@@Wolfman_NV Looks and it will fit a 410mm inner barrel over the 250mm standard one which makes a hug difference
no jam s no other issues...just the locking problem when the mag is empty

@@Wolfman_NV totally agree. I believe it's indeed a problem with the nozzles and not entirely with the MWS/MTR.
nah not harsh man just info.
Nah I'll buy a g edition
