This is absolutely one of my all-time favourite videos on RUclips. I revisit it often. Jane is stunning in that black dress and her performance is simply sensational. Great musical chemistry...I wish I had a time machine so I could go back and see this production of the musical. ❤️
I know nothing about Broadway musicals, but want to say how much I loved this! Makes me want to get into Broadway musicals! Such powerful fun and creativity!
Thanks for sharing. I know and love these guys from 30 rock, it was nice to see them doing what they do best. By the way, amazing profile picture. Volver is my fav film.
@@Dred.Pirate.Roberts Because it’s so absurd that someone as gorgeous as she is would be the ugliest woman anywhere. (Much less in a tiny state like RI.)
This was Encores! in in NYC. The line is really in the script, it's just a funny juxtaposition since she was once the ugliest woman in Rhode Island, and she sold her soul to Applegate for eternal youth and beauty.
i think they were supposed to sort of giggle, but when the audience started laughing than they completely lost character and started laughing even harder
i hate to be the one to say anything negative but Jane doesn't excite me as a dancer. Possibly from seeing Gwen do the part, but she seems to be more waking through the steps rather than dancing them full out. No excitement, sharp moves and turns just kind of half speed. Ex professional dancer here so I've been in productions with women who dance the hell out of numbers and are exciting to watch. Jane is nice to watch.
I agree with your comment. This part was created and choreographed specifically for Gwen and her particular, spectacular talents. If you watch the film, you see how much of her own dancing history is in the choreography (of course, she brought so much to Fosse that it should always be Verdon/Fosse in the credits of most of his work). Gwen made this number seem so effortless and joyful, I guess it's hard for any other dancer to live up to her genius. Also, one actually has to be a dancer to even qualify…
You’re missing the point. That’s the STYLE of the number. They’re lost souls, so they’re dead, soulless & cursed for all eternity. Wouldn’t YOU be slump-shouldered & depressed it that was your fate!?
Stephanie honey, I'm not blind. I'm a dancer with more years of training than I'm betting she's ever had so I think I can judge her skills levels a he'll of a lot better than you.
What awful choreography. This number should be such a showstopper. Jane Krakowski is so delightful, unlike the last revival where Bebe Neuwirth was absolutely charmless.
Nick Mayor. the problem isn't poor choreography, it's the ability of the dancers. It's hard to compete with Gwen Verdon, she performed brilliantly. Gwen was so good in anything she did, I love watching her dance. I did think Janes singing was done well.

jane should do more broadway! Love her!!
I wish someone had this full production!
Love that dress with the revealing plunging back line and deep V neck.
Moves like a yoga girl. "We got each other."

these two are so awsome
I saw her in Grand Hotel and she can dance very well. Give her good Choreography and she can handle the dancing.
Dean Brady i’m so jealous
@shrevestylist314 Yeah, her performance of Music and the Mirror was stirring.
pllleeeeaaasssse make more music!!!!!
yes
Do you have "What ever Lola Wants" from this production? Please post if you do!!!
Now go and rent the Original Film. Awesome fav film
I wish we could!
@muracsmurah they are supposed to laugh :]] such a great performance. they cut the end down a little. it was a shame
Interesting to read that people are slating the choreography... this is in fact Fosse's original staging.
But there's no Gwen Verdon...
Same Choreo, but Bebe recreated it better imo.
I would say Krakowski fits the bill as the modern Gwen Verdon- even though they broke character for a moment.
i don’t think they did. I think that laugh was staged.
Didn’t he play Todd Beamer in United 93? This is the first time I’ve seen him without a hat.
its kinda funny how everything was kinda setious at first and then she says something funny and everyone laughs
I can't figure out why the audience broke into laughter. Even she was surprised at first, but then, she too started to laugh. Why?

Where was this??

Do you have the full show?
Anyone know what key this is in?

@jaraandrew100 DAMMIT. I can't believe someone beat me to this comment!
Nana
So, why did the audience laugh at the "ugliest girl" line - was this performance in RI?
No, in NYC. Which is why even the name RI is funny.

BOO!
Nowhere near to the level of Gwen Verdon.
To see Gwen Verdon dance in the little black dress, sitting a chair!
Absolutely, she's an average dancer at best and she doesn't have Gwen's energy either.
David G. You're BLIND. She's a beautiful dancer.
Stephanie Martin, no she's not. She's good..that's all.

she looks like jenna marbles lol
Julia Eve i will literally fight you
Jane looks so skeletal :S

i think it's weird that they kissed. In the version i saw, Joe resisted Lola and finally she was like "Alright, let's be friends"
