I don’t know who came up with the rule that if not routinely wearing or using a item you must get rid of it. I keep any thing that brings me joy whether I wear or use it routinely. Yeah, sometimes if you just cycle it out of the rotation for a year or two, you come back to it and are like DANG that was great. I should wear it again. I have a whole spare closet for things I'm not feeling but don't want to dump. If you have the space it's better to keep a well edited closet for each season and a bit more in "storage."

Interesting perspectives on the black “uniform.” I periodically try to branch out of my predominantly black wardrobe and find myself intensely uncomfortable in colors and patterns. Not because I’m trying to hide or recede into the background but because I feel like I’m BEST seen when my clothes are not what grabs people’s attention. I love faded black jeans, black velvet (textured) anything and eyeshadow or nail polish, but yeah the all black uniform is mostly boring and a crutch people use to keep from expressing themselves. You're so gorgeous in bright color it's a CRIME you didn't wear it.

karen, i procrastinate a lot as well and i am definitely inspired by hearing someone so successful guilty of the same bad habit. i personally do not find a lot of Black women in the grunge/alternative/goth sector of the fashion world and i fell in love with your style back in 2009 because it was edgy, rock-inspired and also had some bohemian elements but i didn't see them all thrown together perfectly on a Black woman (i definitely saw it on rumi neely/fashion toast but she's obvs not Black) i think i've finally refined my style and honed in more on what i love thanks to women like you and want to share it. thanks for forcing me to give myself my own kick in the ass. love the OOTD. I have made tons of fashion mistakes. I currently know what looks good on me and have learned a lot about fashion; therefore, I no longer make the same types of mistakes. I now buy what I know works for my body type, age, and coloring. I still experiment with some things and stay away from things that don't look good on me, even if they are trending. I usually like your style. I don't like the "cloud" dress. It is shapeless; although, you may style it in a cool way that works for you. By the way, give the Chloe bag a chance. Love your videos. Yes, I can totally relate to this leaving things behind mistake. Last week I had to drive an hour back to a shop where I saw a shirt that I thought about all the time and I got it at the end... Maybe you don't wear the Ganni dress bc it looks a bit like a night gown.
I too wear a lot of Black and I think it's for two main reasons: 1. It's easy to style and cheaper quality pieces aren't easy to spot and 2. I think in all of fashion history, Black signified simplicity, depth, respect, and "expertise". I too am trying to embrace color because although I love neutrals, I get so excited by different hues and combinations.

i love that chloe bag, especially the beautiful jewel tone color of it. it will look amazing with fall pieces. i have the gucci dionysus bag and i know a lot of women think it's outdated because it's not hyped as much anymore but i still love it. give it another chance! even if it's an older style, it's still pretty.

karen, i procrastinate a lot as well and i am definitely inspired by hearing someone so successful guilty of the same bad habit. i personally do not find a lot of Black women in the grunge/alternative/goth sector of the fashion world and i fell in love with your style back in 2009 because it was edgy, rock-inspired and also had some bohemian elements but i didn't see them all thrown together perfectly on a Black woman (i definitely saw it on rumi neely/fashion toast but she's obvs not Black) i think i've finally refined my style and honed in more on what i love thanks to women like you and want to share it. thanks for forcing me to give myself my own kick in the ass.

love the OOTD. I have made tons of fashion mistakes. I currently know what looks good on me and have learned a lot about fashion; therefore, I no longer make the same types of mistakes. I now buy what I know works for my body type, age, and coloring. I still experiment with some things and stay away from things that don't look good on me, even if they are trending. I usually like your style. I don't like the "cloud" dress. It is shapeless; although, you may style it in a cool way that works for you. By the way, give the Chloe bag a chance. Love your videos. I too wear a lot of Black and I think it's for two main reasons: 1. It's easy to style and cheaper quality pieces aren't easy to spot and 2. I think in all of fashion history, Black signified simplicity, depth, respect, and "expertise". I too am trying to embrace color because although I love neutrals, I get so excited by different hues and combinations.
