The Academy were high off their asses for not nominating this score. Atmospheric, gorgeous and downright haunting. Fincher and Reznor are this generations Spielberg and Williams.
+Chris Wolff Now I'm curious to see who was nominated and find out if their scores even compare.
It was nominated for the Golden Globes at least. You can't always please the elite. It's still amazing he won an Oscar.
Yes. This film and score are profoundly underrated- shame
This sounds like what an abandoned monastery overlooking a deep, ancient forest would feel. This is AMAZING to the fullest extent of the word, and i hope that the composers for this song continue to make songs, and they deserve a huge frickin' amount of money from the movie.
That distorted electric guitar after 2:10 is so deeply unsettling, I have no words to describe the emotional place it brings me to.
Honestly, whoever composed this knew just the right notes to play to give you that secluded, dreaded feeling whenever hearing this song. It's perfect and dark without being too complex, and that definitely is talent. Bravo Fincher. Once again you outstand me. With the directing. with the acting. with the music. Bravo...just bravo.
This music, and the snowy pictures, the Vanger mansion .... the first time I saw that to theater, I tought to Kubrick's The Shining
This, aphelion, revealed in the thaw, oraculum, and what if we could are the best tracks imo but honestly there's not ONE song on this 3-hour long album that I dislike it's one of the most unique albums I've ever heard and I've been listening to it for over a year now
Sounds like if "depression in 1940's Germany" had a theme.
This reminds me of my life
Very well made movie and this music is in one of my favorite parts at the beginning. Thank you for it!
Hedestad is always lovely, Mr. Frode
incredible soundtrack. every score
2:36 amazing
+David Ryan My favorite part.
+David Ryan Yes and Yes, that part can't be described with words. You ever heard of akira yamaoka? He has very similar sounding instrumental songs as this song and many others from trent
Is this the song that plays when they're on the train and they're on the snowy mountain? Very haunting.
Yes
also when lisbeth is wandering through the streets at night, and at the beginning of the film
@@amal-ti2zz After the rape
@TheMerrow3 It plays in several parts of the film. It also plays when Bloomkvist arrives at the island.
She was bright, young and very curious
And beautiful
@@amal-ti2zz something happend to her?
First thing I did after watching that scene on which Craig gets on the train is search for the bg music that was playing
That part (the best part of this track) starts 2:41 onwards
wow love this dark music, this music is like a dream, your in that dream that is not ur life.
This track is awesome
@dizkidliz thank you! those were powerful scenes.
@2:35-3:13
It's perfect.
It sounds like air raid sirens and everything disturbing in the world. Awesome.
Throughout the film I was particularly stroke by the theme wich begins around 2:13 here, it expresses so well the deep distress of the girl among the chaos of all that is happening to her. And yet it doesn't overcome the rest.
Well, I don't know if it is all in a particular scene, but I think it was playing when Lisbeth was coming back home and somehow wandering in the streets after the bastard spent the night with her. I don't remember very well, sorry. Maybe others will know better than me.
That's right. The Stockholm stroll post rape.
My favorite..
2:44 is where it gets really good!
Haunting.
i love it
This track especially reminds me of The Social Network's OST.
2:41 is where the best part starts
@TheOathtoOrder it has nothing to do with just making "creepy" music; the songs work soo well in the movie, that even just hearing them on their own isn't enough to substantiate them. they were written for those scenes, it gave the perfect ambiance.
"What if we could" 2:45
It´s called ´What if We Could?´
@TheOathtoOrder NIN with Yamaoka, chillsssss.
What if We Could?
Does anyone know where I can find the opening sequence from the movie online? It was so awesome
666 likes? That's interesting ...
1:33 fucking amazing 😻
@Retrospect1995
He has a lot of those. And all that could have been (the actual song on still) is the saddest thing I've ever heard lol.
Listened several times to the whole track. This track is the darkest and most ominous (perihelion comes close, but is more ambient, less melodious)
Mysterious.
2:36 :)
@Zazzaro703 - There's this great video I encountered on RUclips - that was Trent's "And All That Could Have Been" edited with Darren Aronofsky's masterpiece "Requiem For a Dream" - check it out!!!
How DaFuk they com up wit this sound?!!!
Trent Renzor and Atticus Ross are genius's
