This is probably one of the most melancholy tracks ever produced by Reznor.
Can't believe they took it off Spotify. It's one of my favourite songs and soothes me so much.
RIGHT ?!?! WHY
Exactly!!!
Much agreed Athena much agreed. I'm listening to it right now as I'm walking my mail route 🙏🏾
@@HeavenOrHell74 same here T_T
Spotify be trash. And you have to pay for it…
It was so sad to see how she finally for once felt happy and thought she could have a chance at something new but then relized that wasn't gonna happen 😢😭
This is one of my favorite pieces off of this soundtrack. Haunting yet beautiful.
This track is heartbreaking
i love this song and this part of the movie. so sad. sometimes i think i can relate. when are we gonna get the girl who played with fire? come on hollywood hurry up
You won't get it. Sony dropped the Millenium Trilogy movies after the first one was made. Atleast the David Fincher one is not happening.
buenisimo 2024 y sigue doliendo como debe
master piece !!!!
@ChasingCharles That is how the book ends. Things all wrap nicely at the end of the trilogy :)
Please make another
Epic
Lonely...
They'd make an interesting couple, but if you think about it, Mikael never really showed interest on Lisbeth so far.
She took off her panties and climbed on top of him before he even settled down and even when Mikael was asked about Lisbeth, he explicitly refused to refer to her as his girlfriend choosing to call her an "assistant".
Really Lisbeth fell for Mikael when he had showed no interest in her, and it was clear he was lying when he said he was going to see his daughter.
In the book Lisbeth has an inner dialogue where she says "you are such a pathetic fool Salander" as soon as she sees Mikael with Erika. Its heartbreaking. Once she let herself feel something for someone. And this is what she gets. I think we can all relate to this. It is so sad that we did not get a Fincher Millenium trilogy, it would have been perfect..
Werner Herzog as Zalachenko it would have been perfect
I watched the Swedish version other two parts. It is basically a detective and nothing adds to the characters' development. Barely any dialogue, barely any contact between Lisbeth and Mikael. It just a Lisbeth redemption story and having reliable friends at the end. Her willingness to fight for her life for justice is something else.
@@somebodytoknow7408Did they want Werner Herzog as Zala? Lol
@@jerpusmaximus if Only
"For your father?"
"Just a friend."
"Must be a very good friend."
muy buena referencia....
I relate to Lisbeth so much in the ending it’s crazy. This is my favorite Fincher film and always will be.
The movie is very good, but the last scene was truly emotional, sad and tragic.
This part was so sad.
***** But that's in keeping with the style yeah?
the good thing is that it does not end like this. Check the other two books hehe
Admit it: we've all felt like Lisbeth in this scene(the ending) at least at one point in our lives.
or not about a specific person in one's life but about my life as whole
i jsut have recently LOL
Pepe The queen same... Hope you're doing okay.
All too familiar...
Which was the scene?
That ending had me feeling like lisbeth, abandoned. it just ended like that, lonely and familiar
+Benjamin Rood Maybe they will someday. But Fincher should make the movies and keep Craig and Mara.
+Benjamin Rood
Sony said that theres gonna be the rest of the movies, but without Rooney, Craig, and Fincher..
FUCK SONYYYYY!!!!!!!!!
An. S. WHAT THE FUCK !!!
Benjamin Rood One of his best. The best was Gone Girl.
+Moise Mensah Gone Girl was really good but dragon tattoo was finchers best work
One of the most emotionally gripping songs ever.
lushvalley A song has words and this doesn't. It is a piece.
This feels alot like Erik Satie wrote it. Trent tells a great story
Your absolutely correct
Definitely feel the sadness.
"For your Father?"
"A friend."
"Must be a very good friend."
2:26 this part of the sequence deserves an entire track of its own.
I can't believe I remembered this scene and this track out of the blue after six years, I'm amazed. I don't feel sad or anything but I don't know why, it just popped into my head.
Glad it did. I forgot how beautiful it was.
Mara deserved to reprise her role as Lisbeth. How unfortunate. Well least this makes it memorable.
I guess this is my goto music. What a day...
@@prashantd6252 Everything alright mate?
@@luciddreams6681 I'm alright today, thanks for asking. It's just one of those days again...
You nailed the part that should be it’s own song though, the main reason I searched out this song
I like both Swedish and American versions. Noomi is an amazing actress and she did a fantastic job as Salander. But Rooney's version just gets under your skin, just like the movie itself. The vibe and dark atmosphere are amazing. The attention to detail is insane and in the end it delivers. Also Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara chemistry helped a lot. They really fit their characters perfectly, it's like taking them from the book and bringing them on screen. It's extremely rare when a remake is better than original but in this case, at least for me this version is better. It's so haunting, especially the end, her acting was just... perfect. That disappointed look on her face, like waking up from a good dream in a dark world. I can't wait for the sequel!
Totally agree. Sadly I don't think a sequel is happening, doesn't seem like David Fincher is on board to do another movie. Which is really disappointing.
Brick Shithaus I'm afraid of that as well. House of Cards is taking up the majority of his time. A sequel would be amazing.
sweetrage425 whoa I had no idea he had anything to do with that. now I might have to get into House of Cards.
TheShadow Man she is pure talent! Simply perfect in the role.
The anticipated sequel that never came now almost ten fucking years later 😭
The best track on the score in my opinion.
+Demonsplaining standing alone this one works the best, yes. But as film music they're all fantastic
No question
Oh Salander :(( This is so emotional, that escene, Lisbeth's face... Mikael with Erika, the jacket... So many things
i listened to this song for a straight year non stop of debilitating depression. couldnt get out of bed, wasnt eating, didnt see anybody. listening to it now brings back a lot of painful memories. but such a beautiful song nonetheless. the entire soundtrack holds a very troublesome and heavy place in my heart.
Hayden Ganas A while ago now, but I hope things are better for you.
I've suffered from suicidal depression my whole life and Nine Inch Nails, which is my favorite music project represents how I feel virtually on a daily basis. I try escaping via visual media. There's a song on The Book of Eli soundtrack, which is also by Atticus Ross called "Safe" it's a carbon copy of how I feel when I'm at my lowest but it's also, against all odds, quite stunningly beautiful and it helps me cope with my mental illness. If you haven't you should check it out.
Hope your doing fine. I would suggest Poets of The Fall if you haven't checked them out.
I was in that same place when I dropped out of college. With this same song too. Hoping things are better for you friend.
I've been in your place and I hope you are doing great. I can't say the same thing about myself.
That's when Lisbeth realizes that her connection with Mikael wasn't supposed to last forever. After their night together, Lisbeth thought they could end happy together after they solved the case. Lisbeth's life was full of horrific shit: She tried to kill her father by burning him alive, she got raped by her protector and got revenge in the next night, and just when she found the one person who could save her from that hell of a life, she now realizes that that thing the two had only lasted in a small while, it only lasted in just one case. She now realizes that the one person whom she loves rathers staying with someone else. She realizes that she and Mikael are too different to each other, and because of that, they can't be together. After a whole life of living hell, she now thinks she's forced to live that hell again.
i dont know how to express myself in words how much i love this song and how it tuch my in the ending
A song for the truly lonely, but a very nice song nonetheless.
definition of Heart Broken ....damn...she was excited when she got off that bike too.....DAMN YOU DANIEL CRAIG...........damn you ....James.....Bond........
When the twinkling bells kick in at 2:44, captures the feeling of snowfall so beautifully.
I've shortened their names to Treznor & Atticoss
This soundtrack always hit me in heart. Remaind me of Lisbeth in ending.😢
This song makes me want to curl into a ball and cry. Trying to study while listening to this is impossible. This has to be one of my all time favourite songs.
Laying here now, in my room, the night almost upon me, a dark blue glow over everything as this plays. And everything is calm, all is just chill...
Beautiful. Trent is genius.
Robert Konečný Yes, it is beautiful. But I wouldn't say he is a genius. He is astonishingly good musician. One of the best musicians in the world in my opinion. He really can transform his feelings into music, but he is not musical genius. Chopin was. Mozart was. Bach was.
+Matěj Jureček
You say that Reznor can put his feelings in his music... Ok, that make Reznor a music genius
When I read the book I felt that, after everything that happened to her, the only time that she was actually afraid was when she was on her way to tell Mikael how she felt about him. That's the saddest part of this scene.
God. Thats true…
I *_love_* the last minute or so of this....especially that gauzy distorted richly-harmonic synth(or is it guitar?) tone throughout. Has a really cool shoegaze vibe going on. This song really inspires me....
its like every little sound in the song makes you think .....
If only Fincher/Reznor had made another.. WOW!
i daydream on how magnificent it would be and how I long to drown myself in her world again
I love the atmosphere and this woman portrayed in the film! I wish I had more of her! She is so strong and beautiful of her own way!!!
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo should be considered as Christmas movie
I'll have this masterpiece played at my funeral. Simple, and yet, magnificent.
I agree with this post, very tragic and sad.
What if we could get the next two movies with all the original actors in it? That would be great. In all seriousness, this song makes me sad because it's played when they have sex the first time, everything's all good right? Naw, it's played at the end when lisbeth sees Mikael and Erika together after spending money and time to write M a letter and give him a gift. Pretty f*cked up it had to end that way but I'm pretty sure it's similar to the book. Makes me wanna watch the girl who played with fire (English version) until I find out it doesn't exist and probably never will ffs
it's exactly what happened in the book :/ the song perfectly captured the sadness of that heartbreaking moment, it really worked.
The swedish films are really good and give another perspective of author interpretation, after 10 min u forget the titles, the grain. Your just hooked
The Swedish version had to small of a budget and left out too many details of the book, or completely changed them. David Fincher's adaption is perfect, and this soundtrack is fucking legendary.
This song and this scene ends up expressing the feeling of an uncomplete story, like this trilogy and Mindhunter.
Why would they take this off Spotify oml
The best track from the soundtrack. Just heart breaking, beautiful and highly emotive. Just give Trent and Atticus the Oscar now.
Probably play this on August 2nd, 2023, because it will be my last day of the summer semester here at Sacramento City College....At Least until Fall semester begins August 19th, 2023....But still...
I know the feeling the character felt that been the story of my life I let someone in and felt exactly how lizbeth did in the movie I know it just a movie but I felt/feel such a connection with lizbeth
I am facing that kind of rejection myself.
I was so devasted when I saw Lisbeth's reaction in that scene. Gosh, I wonder what Lisbeth wrote on that letter.. Damn you Mikael! Aside from that, very beautiful song. Rooney Mara deserves that oscar, Gary Oldman too..
This is honestly top 5 favourite movies of all time. The characters were portrayed awesomely, the music was on point and settings they were able to capture and project were beautiful as well.
Can't believe this was played live by Nine Inch Nails in Korea. Damn. Always makes me a bit tearful. Poor Lisbeth.
My darkness my infinite sadness. Toxicity only you know my deep dark secret
this is killing me...
A like this song
Sad but beautifully realistic ending to the Dragon Tattoo....great movie
I finally left a toxic friendship. That person was horrible and constantly lashed out at me. She took her frustration on me and lashed out at others. She turned her back on me when I needed a friend and folded like origami she shape shifter while I was solid brick. This gives me hope to a new chapter forgiving myself and her and not looking back ever.
From far away, the most melancholic one of the album...
This song is heavy... Wow.
A few days after I saw this film, I found the live performance of this piece at Lolapalooza on YT... it made me weep
That chaotic music in the low note gives me goosebumps perfectly matches the tone of the movie
This is the version from the ending of the film though, I kind of want to hear the sex scene version, that one started in a much more subtle way, it was slightly different and I liked it more but can't find it anywhere....
that version is called "parallel timeline" i think
I love the ending. It's so sad
everything can change if we really want to. :)
A song to play at the end of your life, when your energy is spent and you have nothing left to give to this world....
Wow, so amazing...
+Aston That's true...
Best piece on the soundtrack. That scene is heartbreaking. She was closed off, guarded, then she lets someone in just a little and you can tell she had a massive heart but had to protect it. And when she did open herself a little...........the door is slammed shut
Aww its the song on the last part when lisbeth saw mikael and erika together, which is heartbreaking.
I was fine with the movie until that point, been in the exact same situation, I almost threw the fucking remote through the TV. it ruined my entire night.
To think that... Despite all her brokenness and suffering, she has a heart that could love only him... But I guess it was more convenient for Mikael to be with a woman he couldn't have, not to himself anyway.
This song and the soundtrack to the final theme of the last of us 2 game is one of the most heartbreaking songs I've ever heard in my life, what makes it feel even more lonely and sadder is that they're both lgbt characters. It would be extremely idiotic to think that an lgbt person doesn't experience isolation in a straight world just because someone is jealous of that narrative
all I'm saying is appreciate what you have, there are legit real lives out there who experience this 10x worse than you who go through more rejection in this world, you're living the dream compared to others in comparison, things could be much worse covid could've wiped out most of the human race and you could be an lgbt person struggling to find love in a post apocalyptic world hypothetically. That being said, everyone feels this regardless of sexual orientation as its hard and rare to find the right one for everyone, it's amazing how much of a power of a situation or event can alter your mood and feelings like that just the simplicity of seeing a man with another woman holding hands in public. Life can be fucked up like that, I thought Noah seeing Allie in the notebook with the rich man in a posh restaurant kissing with fun after jumping out of a bus was hard enough to swallow but this hits more because Lisbeth isn't exactly a model citizen, she truly struggles connecting with others and reciprocating emotions just like certain autistic people have. Rejection is a powerful and traumatic thing, hence why not many people put themselves out there because they want to protect their own egos and rejection is a reminder of your insecurities and worth but you have the choice to turn that around by not letting that person have power over your worth and to see them as the loser or stupid person who is missing out on all the fascinating and positive parts of your life just for boredom or a casual fling because they're miserable with themselves. It takes courage to do what Lisbeth did as she never really does that for anyone, the fact he doesn't know about that makes him look bad and makes her look better so you're only missing all the positives about this. If I was Lisbeth I would've probably reacted the same way as she finally thought she was building up rapport and closeness with somebody. People get jealous of people like Lisbeth because they're different in every way because most people ain't different in every way and lead sad lives so they try hard to be like her but they also don't date her so she remains single like its an ongoing loop I guess you could call it, both a curse and a blessing
I didn`t watched the film(only some chapters from the book), but music from this one is incredibly touching, due to weird morose romantic, penetrating the atmosphere of the story. Thanx mr Reznor.
Stunning! Hauntingly beautiful track
listening to this on loop as i read the book
Haunting captivating melody…
i have seen the last scene hundred times and i always cry when she's standing alone with this leather jacket...
at the end she went back to who she was..sad
The last scene in the movie just broke my heart. It wasn't so touching in the book. The Rooney's Lisbeth is so fragile loner...
Love is tragic. I love you John...forever in my heart, forever and always.
I'd like to hear this song just before I die
One of my Favorite bits of movie score ever! so simple, so sad, so haunting and so Girl with the dragon tattoo!
I remember Seeing this movie for the first time and the ending ... man that ending chills and heartache.
Yeah, but.. We couldn't have expected him to just stop talking to her like that (If you're refering to him and his co-worker). It broke my heart when she was like "you're an idiot lisbeth." and threw the present in the trash.
I didn't like the ending as such, for my main gal wasn't happy, but I wouldn't have had it any other way, because I think it's such a perfectly fitting ending.
I read the book but have yet to watch the movie. This is amazing...
Really? i though he was going to see his daughter because of how he stuttered and looked at the window before saying "my daughter".
I just think that at this point in the story, Mikael wasn't interested in having anything serious with Lisbeth.
Hell, he didn't even approach her to begin with.
I just finished the movie and I cried a lot. Lizbeth should have been with Mikael at the end. :"(
Reminds me of La mer a track on nine inch nails the fragile
Grammy! :)
during what part of the movie was this song played
This comment is now 10 years old.
@RayzorProductions I felt sorry for Lizbeth. Under the tough, calculating exterior, she was just a girl who fell in love with someone who didn't love her back. I think everyone has felt that type of pain at least one time.
Can listen to it without thinking about that scene where she's living away riding that bike
I was crying when I saw the ending for the first time, and now I'm crying every time I listen to this song..
the final scene in the movie is as heartbreaking as it was on the book..david fincher delivered the goods again
"you want me to open a window?"
I feel exactly like Lisbeth on the final scene right now.
Me to
😣so sad so far a away we ... excellent song end
This song helps me meditate by open eyes
Reznor and Ross are really good..I mean all their OST make me inspired.
Trent Reznor is the best !!!!
Yup, that's pretty much it.
