Thank you for sharing. I married a nurse. We hired a financial advisor as soon as we got our licenses as nurses. Listened to free library finance Audiobooks that you suggested while driving to work. We’re debt free with fully funded emergency fund, maxing out retirement contributions and IRAs, two kids with 529 plan, giving to church and charities, traveling to places of interest, almost done paying off our mortgage from tax free passive income and still very passionate about our nursing careers ❤ Save-Give-Spend 👍
But isn't it unattractive and unmasculine for a guy to be a nurse? Like probably should marry a doctor Queen
@@andreakatz6109 The first nurses were men. You can’t say being an RN is a feminine job without saying that a paramedic is a feminine job. They are essentially the same except for the setting. If a Firefighter/medic or army medic were to become a nurse, you’re telling me you’re seeing them differently?
@@bdmora8208 Ofcourse, a fireman who became a nurse would be percieved as more feminine and thus more unattractive.
@@andreakatz6109 grow up
Your retirement savings though 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I feel like it's not growing fast enough 😩
The production and content of your videos have come a long way. Nice job!
Ok wait- we have to talk about the quality, the editing, and the vibe of this video! It's amazing. Love to see you stepping it up continuously, Jason.
Yes the editing skill is litt
Thank you sir!
Great great video! You definitely are talented. Great editing btw. Keep the content coming!!!
Roth IRA max for sure . Start early. Id love to see how travel nursing $ has changed since pandemic .
These videos are awesome. I agree working overtime is too draining as a nurse. Work a side hustle is the game.
Thank you so much!
I definitely needed this video!!! I’m currently on a travel assignment in California doing the exact things you mentioned. I can’t wait to interview you after I’m done with reducing my debt!!
Well Jason, with this video I have now watched ALL of your videos, thank you for all you have shared.
I'm an LPN in NY and I made over 100k last year, strictly working agency and per diem. I think it's still not enough for living expenses.
The cost of living in NYC is disgusting!
@@NursesToRiches, perfectly said!
@Kerrikateyez, move out of that state if you could. I can't even wrap my head around the cost of living in that state. It's insane!
But per diem is way to go for sure.
@@NursesToRiches depends on where you live in New York I live on Long Island it’s not that bad
@@NursesToRiches there are also places in CT and Jersey that are way cheaper and very close to Manhattan
Amazing tips!! I really love your content and I am getting inspired to start a side hustle as an RN.. Thank you!
Thank you!! And you're so welcome!
Good night. I am an international nurse and your content is overwhelming. Is there a video for tips for international nurses?
Great stuff, thanks for sharing 🙏
Thanks for watching!
Love your content
Thank you so much!
Hello, wandering if you could make a topic regarding the health insurance and visiting Dr. Lots of people scared to see Dr because they think it’s too expensive.
Great video and very inspiring, keep up the good work. I love your videos
Thank you 🙏
Woohoo!! A new video!!
Good Video....I think you need to eliminate the background music 🎶 to have more clear Audio
I’ve watched your videos on how to get 1.5x and 2x on 8 hr shifts. I was wondering how that would work for 12 hr shifts? Can you get to the same level of OT pay or does it only work with 8 hr shifts? What’s the difference between if I was to work every day for a year on an 8 hour shift compare to a 12 hr shift. TIA!
Thank you for the information. This motivates me to do more
Thank you so much! I'm glad it motivated you.
@@NursesToRiches the words of the RN you interviewed keep telling me that “If I am
A nurse and I am broke I am a lazy nurse”. It gave a huge impact on how I use my profession and deal with my earnings frugally and living below my means brought me to the debt free journey. The knowledge I got from Dave Ramsey and this channel helped a lot. KEEP IT UP
Great content !!!
Thank you!
True
Thanks for the video i learned a lot
Thank you! Glad it helped!
Great advice Jason!
Thank you!
Great video
Thanks Joaquin!
do you have a vid that explains the kaiser union differences of norcal/socal/unac ? thats a good idea for a topic cause it's not really discussed.

Financial literacy is the key to freedom.
I love this channel.
Thank you!
Great
Thank you!
Do you have any videos on aesthetic nursing
I have this one ruclips.net/video/D5ODE1rnzp4/видео.html
Im literally living paycheck to paycheck . Thinking about getting a second job as an rn. Just got accepted into np school. With your advice, should I build my nursing skills as an rn more andcwork a second part time rn job or should i just go into np school? I have a year of outpatient surgery experience and a couple of weeks of tele experience.
Depends on what your expectations are for being an NP. Because clinics cram schedules and make it so providers have a certain rate to meet each day on patient quota. That means you get like 20 minutes with each patient and then move on to the next. You're like a diagnosis machine and there's no time to build relationships, care about your patients, or anything else. Do you think nursing ratios are bad? provider ratios are even worse.
I’m currently a nursing student do you think it would be good choice to minor in business studies I’m thinking about going the aesthetics route and opening my own med spa in the future ?
I wouldn’t minor in it.. it won’t help at all. I’d obtain your business information from YT. Plenty of aesthetic YTvideos for nurses
Debt is dumb cash is king that's right do the Dave Ramsay way
How much is the the federal tax and state income tax percentage per paycheck as a nurse in California? Thank you I love to move there someday
I made several past videos revealing our paystubs. You can watch this one here: ruclips.net/video/eLt6--l2v0E/видео.html
I'm going to have to disagree with your statement about your traditional 401k.
IMO its better to get a Roth 401k and pay for your taxes up front from the salary you earn that year.
Because when you retired and its time to pull that money out,
you will not be taxed on that money you pull out. Remember cost of living will go up,
So thats more money you will have by the time you retire and most likely be on a fixed income.
But cost of living is not the same as tax rate. When you invest in you're 401k you end up paying taxes later but your money will compound tax-free until then and you pay fewer taxes prior to retirement because of you're investing into then 401k. However, if you believe your tax rate will be higher in retirement, then that's what the Roth would be for. But you are paying for the Roth with after-tax dollar and your taxed income isn't going to benefit from being taxed at a lower rate like the 401k. We also cannot predict what the tax rate will be when we retire. For example, the federal tax rate was as high as 90% in the 60s and has continued to fall every decade since then.
Hey :) I am wondering, do you know anyone who does not live in California but has a per diem nursing job in California and picks up a few shifts there every once in awhile for additional income? I am wondering if it would be worth it to fly there just to work a few shifts to increase your income?
I used to but they no longer do it. They actually quit working for Kaiser and flying back and forth because it's gotten too expensive and they were spending too much time away from family.
Hi there, I have a question for you. I live in a different state and want to move to Cali in the next two years. What kind of hospital experience would help me in getting a job in a hospital such as yours? Would experience in a med surg department help, or is it better to have ICU experience?
Honestly any kind of hospital experience is enough. All you gotta do is apply and have some patience or watch some of the videos I have on this channel that go over the different ways to improve your chances of getting a job in these hospitals.
Thank you!
Great info! But the music gave me a headache...
Thanks for the feedback!
But you should only take a 401 k from ur job if they match it...its free money...otherwise just get a roth ira
I thought the whole point of working overtime was that you didn’t have time to spend it.
First to watch and comment
Thanks Namraj!
If you do a pre-tax account for your retirement, then later you will be charged for retirement. IRA is better if you have kids, since most likely you’ll be taxed more then the time would come to take taxes out when you retire.
I dont want to be the negative Nancy. But the New York numbers are a little misleading. Great info nonetheless. I married a nurse and it sucked for a long time. Things got better with the transition to travel nursing, oddly enough.
Bro! PLEASE stop saying WEALPH or WELF. It’s WEALTH :) You’re to smart for that….
OMG, how could you tell him how to pronounce wealth when you are making grammar mistakes. You wrote "you're to smart...." when it's "you're too smart" Please try not to be so critical of people when you are not perfect yourself. Being humble is such a blesing. God bless you. And to the gentleman who created this video, thanks so much for your elaborate tips. I certainly will be using them.
