Hi Jess! This is such an amazing reaction, it's always nice to hear professionals' perspective on Hanbin's performance because his dance style is not always appreciated by Kpop fans who have little understanding of dancing. I would like to go over Hanbin's dancing history just to introduce you more to him. Hanbin started dancing in elementary school where he would learn Kpop choreos on his own and then taught his friends. At 15, he enrolled to a dance academy and was first introduced to locking before exploring waacking and girlish, which were the genres he did the most. He would participate in a lot of dance competitions with those genres and did a ton of waacking battles as well. He was so serious about waacking that he once joined a Lip J and an Ibuki workshop. Then, he started voguing and tutting at 17, and hiphop at 18. One of his voguing teachers is now a part of The Iconic House of Ninja and she called Hanbin her right-hand man! Throughout the years, he also learned various genres like house, soul, ballroom, popping, etc. After graduating high school, he started teaching waacking and voguing classes with his own choreography while going to university, majoring in Kpop. He would also take side jobs like being a back up dancer for Wanna One and BTS in year-end stages. I believe around the same timeline he was also recruited into three dance crews: Spella's tutting crew, Bloeshu, where he was the only male; a girlish dance crew called CHIPCHAP, also the only male; and waacker McJo's all male waacking crew called Lastman. Hanbin also took a lot of Babyzoo classes and was even picked as one of his dancers for his megacrew, dancing in the front line next to him. Originally, Hanbin was going to direct his career as a Kpop Performance Director, but he got interested in being in front of the camera after taking camera-related classes at university, hence he started auditioning for idol trainee at 20 years old in 2021. He got admitted into Cube and trained there for a little less than a year. During breaks he would go to dance academy like JustJerk, where he took a lot of Bada Lee classes and so he got to know her. After leaving Cube in 2022, Hanbin joined his current agency/label (before WakeOne, ZB1's agency) called THEL1VE and immediately prepared to go for Boys' Planet. During his time training at THEL1VE, he learned personally from dance teachers like Wootae and Bada Lee. Fun fact, at that time Bada couldn't do personal lessons because she was very busy, but she immediately said yes when she found out it was Hanbin she was going to teach. She would travel 2-3 hours round trip just to get to Hanbin's agency but she said she was more than willing to do so for Hanbin because she could see how hardworking he was! That's the end of Hanbin's dancing history :) I wasn't planning to write this long but Hanbin has such a crazy history that I just have to share every single detail with you. I hope this becomes an intro to what kind of person and dancer Hanbin is❤
Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and provide such incredible perspective on his journey through dance! Very excited about the fact that this was more of a "family affair" of people who influenced him in life and I'm so happy to celebrate that with others!
Whoaa thank you so much for this long comment!! I thought i knew about his career but turned out id missed a lot! the more i learn the cooler he gets, its crazy
Thank you for the detail! I loved getting to see (recently) him visiting Bada Lee and learning from her. They have a lovely, easy comfort together that really makes that history visible.
Hanbin worked as a professional dancer for 2 years before he joined Boys Planet and that's why he moves like a real dancer who's doing it for a living cause he was literally that person before he became an idol. Thank you so much for this reaction ❤
@@April_0613 I will say the style that he does is one that is based on discipline and being mentored by some great teachers! Very happy to have seen this!
Thank you do much for the reaction, I feel like i watched it for the first time with you although I've already seen it a million times, because you highlighted do many great details! I think you already know by now but he was a professional dancer before he became an idol! Specialized in tutting and waacking and did many other genres! He's also a member of spella's crew and a student of bada lee and jrick. He's super close to all of them as well! Basically the entire team who worked on this performance are his friends and close acquaintances!
@@arrrii23879 I can see his relationships closely reflected here and it’s a joy to see! Love that it’s a celebration of all and not just him!! So impressed!

Woow this is my favorite reaction yet to hanbins AOTM by far. Your perspective and the depth you go into made it so so interesting, I’ve watched the performance like at least 20 times before but still feel like I’m only able to fully appreciate it in its mastery after seeing your video. I will def be tuning in when you do a deep dive into zb1, make sure to watch their predebut stuff and lore! Half the group was over 20 at debut, so they’ve lived lives before and it makes them so much more interesting and fleshed out as humans. Its fascinating to see all the paths they’ve walked individually that eventually led them onto their joint path of zb1, and i cant wait to see where they’ll go in the future!
Thank you for taking the time to watch!! It's a long one but I'm happy that I was able to help in some way with further appreciating the artistry! I truly hope to be able to watch ZB1 as a marathon at some point and I plan on looking at the pre debut work as well!
I watch this at least five times a day. The choreography, the concept, and especially his performance are just so good! He's a student of Spella and Bada Lee after all. It's heartwarming to see the support from his teachers. Speaking of Bada, please consider reacting to her 'Sheesh' and 'Accendio' choreo if you have time. Both choreos only have 6 people and I'm curious about your perspective on the formations as a choreographer. Personally, I don't often see the formations she uses and I find them quite unique. So, pleaseeee🙏🙏
This was such a fun watch and I appreciate you taking the time to watch again with me! Regarding your requests, I hope to be able to take a look more in the future at those two specifically, I just don’t know when yet!
Thank you for the in-depth breakdown of Sung Hanbin's AOTM! It's always cool to see it from the perspective of someone in the same artistic field. I really, really strongly recommend looking into ZEROBASEONE as a whole, because all nine of them are super skilled in terms of dance (and singing/rapping, of course--they weren't known as the Monster Rookies for nothing!) The main dance line of ZB1 is truly something to behold--there's Sung Hanbin, but there's also Han Yujin (he's been hailed as a prodigy for his ability to understand and execute complex choreography at his young age), Seok Matthew (former street dancer, Hanbin's good longtime friend), Kim Gyuvin (Tall but incredible extensions and stage presence) and Park Gunwook (he's going to be super big one day, mark my words), and the rest of the group are equally as strong. Something that I really love about ZB1 is that each person has a very distinct dance style, but they mesh so well and are so in synch when they perform together that it's really incredible to behold! I recommend checking out their MAMA and MMA 2023 awards performances, or their many, many dance practice videos and performance videos (SWEAT and CRUSH are standouts) .
Woahh, this is such a great reaction like for me i know its great, its tight and mindblowing but the way you articulate it is just so easy to understand for non-dancers like me. Thank you so much for this video!
I really appreciate whenever I receive a comment like this! I really feel encouraged knowing that I am helpful in some way to as many people who are curious about the joys of the art of dance and I am happy to be a stepping stone within some form of clarification or curiousity!
Thank you for taking the time to watch!!! I thoroughly enjoyed watching this and I'm thankful it was recommended to me as much as it was! I hope to one day be able to do a marathon of ZB1 like my other ones but I'm happy to have seen this as my first glimpse at the quality of movement this group possesses!

Thank you for this reaction, it was so interesting to hear your breakdown of all the different choices made in the choreo! I would definitely recommend watching the behind for this if you get a chance. It was super interesting to watch and really highlighted the team effort of people from Hanbin's past who came together to make this masterpiece! I'd love if you end up doing a marathon reaction to ZB1 too!
Sung Hanbin was 1st place for the whole of boys planet until the finale where he came in 2nd. He is a true all rounder. A professional dancer who is so good at MULTIPLE genres, main vocal, can rap, has a golden personality..truly a once in a life time idol. I've been with him since I first saw him as the center of boys planet signal song in December 2022 and it has been nothing but excitement stanning him because you never know what he's going to do next. He's always surprising us. And he literally cherishes his fans. I'm honestly so excited for him to go solo because I feel like the group can hold him back a bit since he's completely in his own league when it comes to performance. Anyways, he's amazing. Thank you for this reaction 😍
This is such great info! Thank you for sharing! I'm really happy to have been able to take a watch and I hope to be able to see more of him and ZB1 in the future!
@@jess_holyfield ugh honestly watch out for fans like this if you ever do get into zb1 because the boys planet/survival show mentality created a lot of solo stans who can't wait for the group to disband so that their fave (the person they voted for) can be the star. fans of any other kinds of groups have their own biases, sure, but still understand others' strengths are generally happy for the whole group to be successful because it bolsters their faves, too, but not zb1 fans for some reason......
