Love our 2014 model. Bought it for £3,600 from a car auction three and a half years ago and in that time have literally spent nothing on tax, servicing and maintenance, apart from the £75 we spent on a new 12V battery the day we picked it up. We get 67 miles range in the summer and about 47 in winter. Inside it's like a Tardis and on the outside the quirky looks make us smile. It's great for the narrow hilly lanes around where we live. After struggling to learn to drive in a manual car, owing to his dyspraxia, my son found driving the Ion easy and quickly passed his driving trest in it and is now the main driver.

    Need
The ion, CZero and iMiEV are rare as hens teeth on the second hand market and stubbornly aren't depreciating. Their Battery management are better engineered than Nissan's LEAF too

This little car is a very attractive machine. I went for a Renault Zoe to take me into modern motoring from the ancient and polluting petrol engine.

If you’re a guy owning one of these. It means you are Ion Man , put an r between the I and o and that makes Iron man

How much health does the battery will have after 80000 klms ? I found at the price around 7000pounds year 2011-2012, does worth buying?

I Have a Peugeot ion ! The range after 120.000km is 60km without AC and Heating. I have changed the charger for 4000 euros because the old one gave up. Now the gearbox is a bit noisy and must be repaired or changed with a used or new one! Everything in this car is very very expensive!

My Renault Zoe is pretty much the same, but has a 235 mile official range. The range has gone down to 195 miles, summer and 125 miles winter.

Personally, I normally only charge fully for my holiday drive to Brighton. Despite doing a reasonable distance from Broxbourne to Brighton, a charge lasts about a fortnight. But an ordinary charge to 80% lasts two to three weeks.

Love your reviews but you’ve fallen into the electric trap with your opening or ‘obvious environmental’ tag. These should be known is emission shifters, not fixers. Even ignoring the mess made of the ground to make one battery, consumers should consider where their electricity comes from. Here in NZ we have tiny wind and solar, but we do have good hydro….but how does UK and Europe generate most of its power? I’m not knocking electric cars, there’s a few Ide love to have, but emissions is a pet peeve…it’s a complete picture (including recycling…real, not planned or theory) that we sjouke be looking and reporting on. Anything less becomes propaganda, not news or fact

Even ignoring the mess made made, on, under, the ground / oceans from oil...... Emission shifters, that all depends on the individuals power source. Ours is completely from our solar panels, so no emissions :)
