- Vice President Kamala Harris and the Second Gentleman, Doug Emhoff, arrived in Lusaka, Zambia on Friday (3/31) to continue their multi-nation African tour.
Following a bilateral meeting Vice President Harris and Zambia President Hakainde Hichilema, the two leaders held a joint press conference where they affirmed their commitment to advancing democracy in Zambia and globally.
The Vice President also visited the location that records indicate is the former residence of her grandparents. While in Lusaka in the 1960s, her family resided at 16 Independence Avenue, although the numbering of addresses has since changed. The location was ultimately identified using plot numbers in public records.
The original structure where Harris' grandfather lived is now gone, but Harris and Emhoff toured the land where Harris visited as a child.
