Hey guys just an update: - you are now required to demonstrate how to use the bag valve mask to administer rescue breaths - you will work with the examiner who will act as the second person - checking of the carotid pulse is no longer required (marking criteria version 1.8 November 2022) Shop the OSCE Workbook here: osce-review-experts.myshopify.com/products/osce-review-expert-workbook
Please may you please display the templates of the GCS charts? As I've seen quite a few with few parameters either missing or alternated to a different angle
Hey guys, at the moment you will not be using the bag valve mask (ambu-bag) due to COVID. You will just verbalise that you will be giving rescue breaths. The assessor will give you instructions prior to starting this station so please listen carefully. Goodluck y'all!
hi sir emer are we allowed check the carotid pulse as well? also, are we going to put our ear near to the patient’s mouth to feel the breathing? though its ccovid season?
@@clarissayumang7970 the patient ( mannequin )would be covid negative on the scenario. Checking the Carotid pulse is not mandatory but it is written on both old and new marking criteria
@@EmerDiego thank you for response usually when assessor maintaining air way we suppose to put oxygen 15L/minute , while we give rescue breaths oxygen must be connected who will do that assessor or candidate, hope you understand what I mean, thank for reply
Sir, hello, the video said to start compressions on the lower half of the sternum. But a text popped up saying "no pressure on the lower sternum". Can you please clarify sir. Thank you
The compression area is in the lower half of the sternum, and the landmark is around the nipples and not the lower sternum which is close to the abdomen. I hope that makes sense. All the best
Good day sir, just for clarification, are we going to start immediately the compressions after checking the breathing or wait for help to arrive, verbalize call 2222/ bring bag valve mask and resus. Trolley before starting compressions? Thank u so much!
Hi Ivy, in reality you have to call for help and immediately start your compression. For exam purposes you have to follow the steps on the marking criteria. Please listen to your examiner closely because they will give you instructions prior to starting the station
And are we going to verbalize “ I’m doing 100-120 compressions with a depth of 5-6 cm for 3-5cycles” during compressions or we can verbalize it after the cpr? Thank u so much for clarifying
You don’t need to verbalise everything whilst performing bls. At the end the assessor will ask you to discuss whatever you performed. Hope that helps. Goodluck
@@EmerDiego please I need clarification from the question above...I taught what you give is 30 chest compressions and two rescue breaths...how come she is saying 100-120 compressions

Hello Emer, sorry to bother you With regards to the IHR, after shouting for help and pressing the call bell… and doing your ABC, So at the beginning of the chest compressions, do you start counting the compressions to 30, OR you only start counting when help have arrived with the ambubag. Because am looking at counting whiles you having to explain to the assessor (Compression at the mid-half of the sternum, 5-6cm depth, 100-120 compression per minute) So am kinda confused a little. Thank you
Hi Salim, you can start counting until 30 then go back to 1 until help arrives. Once help arrives, you will immediately give 2 rescue breaths. By that time, you had given more that 30 compressions already. You do not need to narrate everything you are whilst doing the ihr. You can do it at the end. The assessor will give you instructions before you start. Hope that helps
