I’m so glad I’m not the only one who sees how dark Animal Well feels!!!! In my opinion the sound design is what really pushes it over the edge into true horror!!!
So I just beat layer 2 and Platinum’d the game. This marks the first time I’ve done so and still want to continue playing. I can’t believe there’s still more. It just keeps going…becoming more addicting and more inspiring.
I didnt realize before that the bean actually just has his home. So at the beginning are we seeing it be born? Or is that not its house? It simply found the key to its predecessor's house? Or was it just taking a nap in that flower? Is each run the same creature or is it a new one? Does it die when it dies or does the phone actually revive it? I suppose the skulls in that one room have to come from somewhere... What if the phone is meant to tell the next bean how to get to the point that they are at, when chased by the dog they dont have enough time to tell the next one how to get through everything.
What an excellent video essay. Several things you said stuck out to me and not just for the game. Even Hell can be made comfortable. Powerful! Many people are Living in a comfortable hell. But not to get too deep or dark, just wanted to say great job on this!
Yesss this!!! This is the reminder I needed. Sometimes we get too comfortable in something we know is not the best for us but we're too afraid of change to take that leap forward that could lead us to something better
Slay the Princess is definitely on my list to play but I had no idea about the Pristine Cut. That will most likely be something I wait for, but I'm excited to play it and potentially make a video about it!
interesting interpretation of the game. If I had to describe it as horror, I would say it's soft horror, as nothing in the game necessarily is there to scare you, but become scary because of what it means for you. The kangaroos are just kangaroos, chameleon just a lizard, and they're really just minding their own business, but it is because you are the prey that they are so threatening. I found the game more atmospheric and thrilling than horrifying, but that is just my experience
I also thought the ghost chasing you is a cat and was wondering what it's doing in the dog area - it makes more sense for it to be a dog but it looks so much like the Cheshire cat, lol.
Gimme that gif of SpongeBob and Patrick on the rollercoaster Only kidding - definitely a few good scares in this game, and the atmosphere is so unique and unsettling!
To be honest, I had clung to the idea of it being a ghost cat based on looks but after reviewing all the data, I was totally wrong on that one. I'm team ghost dog
@@WeekndWarriorrr Have you ever seen a cat before? The ghost dog has a constantly wagging tail and its tongue is constantly lolling out, not to mention how it howls.
@@mr.cup6yearsago211 I never said it acts like a cat. I said it looks like a cat. It is a dog, but it looks like a cat. Mostly due to not being able to see it's snout because it's 2D. I have 5 cats btw. Pretty sure I know what cats look like. 😂 Are you saying it doesn't look like a cat or just it doesn't act like a cat?
It's certainly reaching but I don't think his interpretation is meant to be literal, so his opinion can't be wrong. If he feels like solving infinite puzzles forever while random creatures attacking you unprovoked feels like hell then it certainly can be. Personally I felt a sense of awe of nature playing the game, like I was insignificant and trying to decode the greater mysteries of the universe. It's only after I rolled credits and started looking into the deeper puzzles that I started to feel helpless and lost at the complexity and scope of it all
@@PopeyeTheVRManIn my opinion, this game has no some "deep philosophical message". Its got good puzzles, music, graphics, but no story. Compare it to Rain World. Rain world has it all, even serious story and philosophical thinking.

Statues are often used to pay homage to the deceased. They're all over Animal Hell-- i mean Well.
Have you gotten to layer 2 yet? There is still a lot more to the game after you unlock the house

you know your game has done something right when a video essay of it comes out.
or it could also have done something wrong
and not even a week after the game came out too😊
I thought he was a meatball lol

I'm really grateful that you enjoyed it! Thank you so much for watching!
When watching a RUclips video about a game feels more like watching the documentary of a work of art 😂
I'm glad you enjoyed it and hope you continue to enjoy the quality of my videos!
thanks to this video I realized theres a door at the bottom of that well, lol
that was honestly an awesome video essay on Animal well and now that's gonna stick with me as I venture even further lol
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video and hope you enjoy the rest of the game!
Nice work! I'd love to see an essay on Slay the Princess, though it might be best to wait until the Pristine Cut update comes out

An interesting reading of the game. I think people will be playing this one for a long time

I didnt catch any of this when i played, nice going!
Thank you! Hope you enjoyed the game!
Such a stretch
Bro why is everyone calling ghost puppo a cat ? Wtf
Because it looks like a ghost cat. It's not but you can't deny it look more like a cat than a dog.

@@WeekndWarriorrr it was confirmed by Billy that the ghost is in fact a dog/wolf
Ghost dog, not cat

That would be the sound of the Frisbee hitting poor Billy Basso
I disagree.

I mean the game is super open to interpretation so feel free to throw your own interpretation out there. I think this video is a cool idea!
