    Is there a way to not get yelled at as a laborer. The boss gives me compliments during breaks, but while I’m on his time, it’s constant yelling. I heard it’s just part of the job but if there are any tips, that would be nice. You cutting the block at 13 inches was one of the coolest things I’ve seen, thank you.

    • @RealityisaComedy
      @RealityisaComedy  4 года назад +3

      Hi there! Thank you for your comment. Is your boss Italian? I'm just wondering because I"m Italian and part of our personality is that we do tend to yell on the job site when some things are not going right, but I mix it in with joking and I always encourage my guys. At the end of the day, I'm always good to everyone, even though sometimes I tend to yell at times. The best thing would be not to take it personally. If you are trying your best, your boss knows this and he will see it. If he never encourages you, or he always yells and never gives you any positive feedback, it might be good to find another company. You don't want to work someplace that does not value your efforts. God bless you my friend! Have a great Sunday!

    Great! Thank you! This really helped. It also made me begin to wonder whether it would be better for me to get someone like you to do it for me. Does there end up being any rebar in the wall? If so, when does that go in?

      William Brown Thanks William! We are in Michigan. We sometimes drill into the footing and put in vertical rebar. Then fill the core with mortar. Not always required in our state.

      Hi there thank you for reaching out to me. What state will this be in? I am located in a Northern state and you would want frost protection to make sure it doesn't move. Be prepared to fix it if it should crack without having a foundation underneath it. The freeze/thaw can really crack it up if it is not deep enough. I hope this helps you! God bless.

    How tall were the ceilings for this structure? Could you use 6" concrete block for something like 11 feet tall?

    • @RealityisaComedy
      @RealityisaComedy  2 года назад +1

      Hi there -- You would not want to use 6" block for more than 3 courses (typically) -- If you were going 11 feet tall, I would say to go at least with a 10" or 12" wide block with vertical rebar. An architect would have to tell you for certain. It would probably depend on what structure you're building. This project was framed on 1 course of 6" block with a 2x6 wall. This was for a garage. I hope this helps! Have a blessed week!

    Am I seeing this wrong? Why are you laying a foundation with 6" block? No vertical rebar either

    • @RealityisaComedy

      This is for the garage area on a new home with a basement. It is done differently depending on what state you are in. Here there will be only one course of block - they will frame on the block work. Many times we drill vertical rod after the block is laid. If there is more than 1 course needed we will lay it out when footings are poured and place vertical rod at that time. Have a great weekend.
