Some company bought the IP of red lobster. Then sold the buildings as a franchiser. Then kept the land those buildings were on. Then kept jacking up the price over and over until they can't pay the rent no more.
Then declared bankruptcy, is selling the brand and leaving poor suckers dumb enough to buy the red lobster and the buildings.
They still own the land.

@@mirandaholland773 Franchising is good in some ways; this is different because a third-party investment group who does not mainly work with restaurants came up with this leasing idea. While the parent company gets five different CEO's in five years, it's not the endless shrimp deal its corporate greed and mismanagement.
@@mirandaholland773 Well, to add to that, the company that bought Red Lobster also owns Asian seafood businesses, and was forcing Red Lobster to buy from the seafood businesses they own, while jacking up prices to increase profits for their Asian seafood companies.
Basically, they bought Red Lobster to suck the money and life out of it.

Gotta say, I don't subscribe to stuff too often, only have about 8 subscriptions in all the years I've been browsing youtube, but you're videos are entertaining as hell, and practical, by which I mean it's mostly places I can actually go to, and things I can actually try! Bring yourself to my hometown New Orleans.. take your wifey ... you guys would love the food and the atmosphere... whenever you have the time.... the best time to go is May ..the beginning of May is the New Orleans Jazz Festival... good food ...good music.. good location.. walking distance from downtown New Orleans.. try some creole food and some cajun food.. you guys will enjoy yourselves..if you want to go in the summertime this is a perfect time.

I heard that the financial issues for the company wasn’t exactly the shrimp special. It’s that the parent company sold the land RL stores owned and agreed to lease the same land back the same sold property at a higher price.

It's funny to think people brankrupted Red Lobster one unlimited shrimp at a time, but in truth, some corpo bought the land Red Lobsters were built on and jacked up the rent.
Red Lobster was so good, loved the biscuits at least you can make them at home tho but still I want them from the restaurant 😭😢

From what I understand they were played from within. Back when, they sold off the land the stores were sitting on to another company owned by the same parent corporation. The stores (who had owned their property previously) now had to pay rent to this other company. Which they couldn't do. So they're shutting down because they can't afford to pay for the land they operate on to a company their parent company also owns.
It would be like YUM! brands buying all the properties that their Pizza Huts, Taco Bells and KFCs sit on, shunting that over to a different company they own and charging an overpriced lease for them to operate on that land the new company owns. Then when the stores start defaulting on their leases as they can't afford the rent they start closing the stores down and forcing them into bankruptcy then saying "Aw, man, it was the stores' fault!"
I hope they still sell the biscuit mix in stores. That’s all I want

Not all red lobsters are going away, at least not yet
They filed chapter 11 so it's restructuring so it's not dead. And the endless shrimp had some effect but it was not the main reason for the bankruptcy
Went there for the first and probably the last time last November in Florida. Went there with good company, our waiter showed us southern hospitality and gave us double orders of endless shrimp for the price of one. Biscuits were🔥, ambience was classy but casual. I'm glad I went under the best circumstances.
We used to drive 2 hours just for moms anniversary. I guess not no more. I'll miss those biscuits.

Maybe some of you older people remember when the Crab Fest was all-you-can-eat crabs, back in the 90s. That almost put Red Lobster out of business then. I felt personally responsible for that one.
Here in new york is about 11 locations that are being shut down, but the big one in Times Square. They're trying to save that one. All of the stores across New York State that are closing are the following

I don’t have to go to red lobster anymore for the red lobster biscuits. They sell the biscuits mix in the store and they even come frozen and they taste just like the ones from the restaurant. That’s the only thing I came for the red lobster biscuits and a Caesar salad. And plus since they was offered in the store, a lot of people decided not to go to the restaurant anymore especially if they was only going for the biscuits in the first place. I can just grab a box right at the store instead of paying all that money at the restaurant

I used to make the cheffar bay buscuits. 22 yrs ago and i still make that recipe lol The buscuits now are small, which is why their so dry. Probably premade once a week then heated up too.
Last time i had red lobster i door dashed it. I ordered 24 garlic shrimp scampis and 2 cheddar biscits. It took 3 hours. And the shrimp had no garlic or butter it tasted like someone microwaved some frozen shrimp from the grocery store, and i never got my buscits.. i wad heart broken

The endless shrimp line is bogus. They’d just take it off the menu if it was hurting business that bad. The chain is going bankrupt from several issues from underperforming locations, needlessly inflated prices and corporate meddling on several levels.

I'd love to see him react to The Original Tops in Pasadena, CA. They make some good ass burritos. Coworkers I had were nutting over the burgers and fries. I will say the fries are in massive proportions, a small is enough for two people.
Places like this is the reason I started cooking more seriously....Was tired of getting ripped off and crappy food.. At least half of these places need to go the next one should be burger king....Went there other day cuz I haven't had a whopper in years but the combo was 12$ I just drove off went home and cooked
