I grew up with them, got to know them in a time that no internet existed, and worse than that, in a country where almost everything was and is forbidden due to religious dictatorship ruling the land(that means even any foreign music). first was just Brian's beautiful unique voice,and the music, which fascinated me and my friend, I remember we were translating the lyrics, damn how we felt alive in that shithole we lived in. And when I could see the band for the first time on a satellite (also forbidden) channel after 2 years, I just fell in love:-D still listening to them, in all these ups and downs of my life, every time I felt horribly hopeless, I sang BLACK EYED to myself, cuz it's like this song was written for and about me. And that kept me crawling forward even weakly and crying.now I'm much better, I've quitted drugs & I'm living with an angel who had a life, rougher than mine, loves placebo :) and understands my complicated messed up character & helps me get better, bears it even if I listen to 1 single song of placebo for 6 hours through till our ears bleed. And the lovely thing is, as I always said, beside the fact that Brian's voice IS truly one of a kind, his and steph's lyrics are so honest, frank and pure, that I see 2 generations after me, listening to them and enjoying it.
