For our review today, we're gonna look at the first MP-47 KO and comp it with the authentic Takara Tomy MP-47 Hound.

My first copy seems fine.. but if the plastic were to feel a little bit more like MP-17, I think that’s good enough.

@@Windcharger Your voice was fine, maybe a little quiet in places. but you get that with new setups. It was the transformer logo sound that peaks in my headphones.

My editing pc is like 5 years old now, you dont need much. I use a i7 6700k, 16gb 3200 with Premiere and After Effects.
I think I know some of your specs... i7 is the Intel processor, 16GB of RAM... no idea what 6700k and 3200 are. I use an old MacBook Air 11inch and a simple iMovie... LOL
I'm definitely going to get the 'Herdsman'/'Shepherd' version when it's released in a few months.

what like mp44 was ment to be improved?
Come to think of it, I think I heard claims that there were supposed to be two KO brands for MP-44 KO, right? I don’t know. Anyways, I haven’t seen any Taobao listings of the Herdsman version and if you know Taobao sellers, they love to jump the gun on listings. Just a thought but I imagine KOs don’t get sold out.
Surprise, the improved version was abandoned. Also, the transitions are way too loud.
Yes, I just got my knock-off figure yesterday. I actually like it much; it transforms nicely in both ways and is very well painted. My only real complaint about is that some of the hinges - like the ankle joints - are too loose. Oh, and that top part of the rocket launcher is definitely too tight. Regardless, I think that this KO figure was the optimal choice of Hound for me. I also like the Spike figure, since its scale is on par with most of my Transformers car robots in their car modes.
That’s the issue with KOs we get some good but some aren’t as good.
Those issues can be resolved with kiki and silicone oil
I was on a hiatus and stopped collecting Transformers. Sadly, many toys that I skipped are now quite expensive and only available on the second market. While I get back up to date, some KOs will have to fill in the missing spots.
This is a beat KO out there..
I transformed mine and now it's staying in robot mode. I have strong mixed feelings about it. It looks great but the panels at the back of the lower legs will not stay flush, they naturally bounce away from the leg even with the hook clip being used. Many times the plastic felt as if it was about to break, it's too thin in places, but the transformation is very clever. Several joints are far too tight, like about to break tight, however there is no gap between the neck and the bonnet. So, positives and negatives all round.
I'd say it is worth the £50 I paid and not a penny more.
KOs then to do that most of the time.

Finally bought him, $50, which is way cheaper than the original. I will usually buy the original unless I miss out and it skyrockets in price. I'm still waiting on Takara Tomy to reissue the car bots as they're old and could use a nice update, kind of what they did with Starscream 2.0. After seeing what Fanstoys did with Jazz, I really want a new Prowl.
I don’t know if they’ll do it though. Maybe. Who knows. LOL
I had this figure. Ended up throwing it against the wall and throwing the remains in the trash, even though I spent $100 on it.
A piece broke and I managed to fix it with superglue and touch it up so it didn't look cracked... only for another piece to break off.
And no, I didn't handle it roughly or anything like that. I have a dozen other masterpiece figures and Hound is the only one that kept falling apart.
Yikes. Sorry to read about this. I heard people’s Hound are cracking. :(
I wanted the mp at first till people started saying that it was crap.
My MP is just fine and so is my KO. The tolerances on the KO is a little loose but not a dealbreaker, yet.
How's the plastic quality? Will the panels and hinges crack and fall apart like the original TT?
I was about to ask that. That's probably the most important question we have!
It feels about the same in plastic quality and my hinges in the breakable parts felt about the same.

@@TransformsIntoAGuitar don’t get me wrong, I think for $45, this feels it is worth the value as opposed to the $90 I paid for the authentic with slightly better tolerances.
@@Windcharger Yeah, that's what I figured. If there's another coming out in March I'll wait and see what that's like. I'm sure this will still be around.
I think some issues are tolerance to the copies of the KO. 3 of my wheels have a bit of wobble to them, but some of my parts fit better. Nothing really seems improved, but nothing really seems to have been made worse either overall...which in the case of this hound could be considered a win. On it's own merits as a KO...not bad at all. I've most definitely had worse!!
Yes yes. This is surprisingly a good KO copy. Much better than my THF UM and MP-44 KO. Only IT Megs was better.

when MP were $40-$80 in Wal-mart & TRU, hate taker-tomy took their time to complete the G1 Bots..not gonna buy $140 figures from them
I don’t think TT wanted to finish the entire cast at all.
Yeah, loved the days when I could pick up MP Transformers for like $20-$30 in the Walmart and Toys-r-Us clearance aisles.

Thanks. Forwarded to KO last week when I came out. Practically all my chaos are awesome. If not better for the most part only have three original period. Sideswipe Prowl & Hound because of a good deal. Just too expensive. Still surprised how great Kos have been arms / shoulders look funny on the Hound?
I’m glad that your KO buys have been solid. The shoulders look weird because of the butterfly joints.
My Spike leg broke because they either glued it or the paint fused the joints.

Yes. Some KOs are bad, some are good. This is a good KO, so it’s a bargain. The MP-44 KO is bad and not worth the price.
I bought it and it works great, breakage issues with the original not an issue on this one. Well worth the cost and the risk.

The real issue or concern with the figure is that if the durability has improved in the KO. Or perhaps the improvement is with the same tolerance issue...but this time you have a cheaper figure.
I don’t think there were any obvious nor noticeable differences. Maybe just tolerances as shown in the video.
I have the authentic one. But would like to buy a ko next to it. Because scary breaking plastic i hear. Lucky mine is still all good no breakage. I think i'll wait and see how the second KO will be. Then i decide. Hope you'll make a comparison again when the second KO is out.

Yikes!! I transformed my official back to truck and packed it away. Didn’t see it crack?? We’ll see.
I'm very tempted to get this. I have the first iteration of the MP44 KO and I think that it's pretty cool; I also have the Infinite Transformation IT01, which is awesome, but a couple of the rivet screws have fallen out probably because they're too short; I have the KuBianBao MP10V (robot & trailer), and that was my favorite KO...still is, actually; I have the KOs of Prowl (whose misaligned door wrecked the joint after a few transformations) & Smokescreen (who's pretty awesome); the Cool Become Brave downsized KO of Combiner Wars Devastator is pretty nifty, especially if you want a Devy that's a better scale alongside the other Combiners; the Cool Become Brave KOs of CW Groove & Unite Warriors Hotspot are okay, and enabled me to FINALLY complete Defensor.
I'm not a big fan of Hound, but again, this is very tempting!!!
I have a whole bunch of KOs too back when I first started collecting. The Lambors, Datsuns and Wheeljack. I have IT too and it’s the best KO I’ve ever bought.
And I've gotten quite a few more KOs since then, with more on the way in the Jinbao oversized KOs of Gravity Builder and Feral Rex, Legendary Toys LT03C MPM3 Bumblebee KO reissue, and MP27 Ironhide. The most disappointing one has to be the Eagle EG01 MP52 Starscream KO. Robot mode is incredible, transformation & jet mode both suck, nothing lines up right, so it'll be going back to robot mode to just be a MP scaled Action Master. (Second most disappointing is Legendary Toys LT02 MPM4 Optimus Prime KO...the right ankle snapped off straight outta the box, and later it developed a rather suspicious break at the waist that looks more like it blew up rather than just broke.)
Though I find it even MORE disappointing that the Hound KO that's supposed to have also had some improvements made to it wound up gettin' canceled for some odd reason. 😞😞😞 Speaking of which, that neck joint not sitting as flush reminds me of the MP44/MP49 mold KO; the midsection doesn't sit as flush, leaving a bit more of a gap than the legit MP44/MP49.
I got this guy coming too. I still need to record that KO MP-44 review tho.

How bout the plastic quality? i have the original taktom and the plastic is brittle AH. Is there an improvement in the plastic quality? Are there any added diecast breakage prone parts?
Not really. The quality is about the same but doesn’t tab in as good as the original.
I wonder if the other KO will be upgraded or not? Thank-you for the comparison Ben. I have pre-ordered this. I want a copy I am not as worried to break. This will be by second KO in the last couple of months. I also picked up the MPM Starscream KO, but that one is dramatically better then the official.

Hey Ben. I am one of those who do not really enjoy the movies, but the figures are sort of what brought me back into collecting. I guess I have a soft spot for them. The main line MPM though, just feel and look cheap. Too many shortcuts and lack of paint. This KO Starscream though, wow wow wow, it is such a major improvement. It has so much more and better paint, and much better joint tolerances. Thank-you for continuing to provide informative and enjoyable content.
@@lowellmartens6135 very nice to hear your return to Transformers story. :) I will admit that I don’t think the MPMs are in the same price point as the TT MPs and also Hasbro makes the final decision on how MPMs are constructed in terms or materials and mold plates count plus allowable paint. With MPs, TT makes almost all the decisions so they can up the paint and materials and charge us if they want.

BTW I have an MP 8 and MP 6 and I noticed:

Odd. Why would we have to check the actual toy as opposed to the box? It didn't specify hence why I'm asking lol So how else would I determine if my MP 8 and 6 are officials or otherwise?

Just got my KO. Have the original but not opened. I just hope in the KO and play because of the price. The green seems kind of life, I can't see it being lighter than the original. I wonder if that's different in mind. Doesn't set flush like yours. But looks great. Will transform it tomorrow. I was trying to find out what the silver loop thing was in the accessories. You don't mention
I have the original review.. they silver thing is the key. The colors are visible to the eye but not so much on the camera.

I heard that there are two versions of this KO, but I know realize that I’ve only seen listings of this one I bought. It’s like the same story of the MP-44 KO.

@@mfdoomtree3753 Yeah...the one that's supposed to be improved has been on pre-order for a while and was supposed to come out already I want to say. This one in the review was listed and out relatively quick being a straight forward KO. I was one of the lucky ones that personally never had any issues with my MP Hound, I just went ahead and bought this KO for alt mode. That said...it's pretty good for what it is. Feels like an MP with marginally wider CQ tolerances. If you were nervous about buying or got screwed with the MP tho, probably best to wait.
I found the other KO listing on Taobao, I think, and it was supposed to be out July 2020 so it's delayed for a long time now.

Thanks for the awesome kind words and time to share your updates. Robotoybase is reputable. I’m not a big enough RUclipsr for him to invite me to visit him and promote his store. I didn’t buy any of the cars from FansToys, just Roadking. So I’m sorry to disappoint you with that in the future. But yeah, this KO, if the quality is the same as mine, is the one to go for. It might be $55-65 American retail though.

How is this toy holding up? I'm thinking of buying a FansToys Willis on the secondary market buy this is my other option.

My authentic is slightly better than the KO. But I Can transformed both of them with the same care but I will admit I’m a little more care-free with the KO. Maybe I can bring the KO around the apartment and play around.
@@Windcharger Haha. Awesome to hear you also play around with your bots. I'm honest the MP Hound is a very fragile figure and definitely not worth the price. Kinda regret selling my Willis because MP Hound came out. But looks wise he nails the Sunbow cartoon and that to me is most important. I play with other figs just cause he is fragile.
With the way Hasbro rips you off, you're a fool not to get KOs. Case in point, this figure, where the KO is better.
Doesn't actually look that bad. Better than the 44 KO. Curious though, do you leave the shoulders lower on purpose to reflect the animation model?

you had one job: tell us if the problems of the breakages of the original mp47 are still there or not. If the quality of the plastic is improved or not.
Disappointed.
I said in the end that the KO felt a little less inferior than my authentic but not so bad. The plastic quality is about the same.

Anyway, I (and probably others as well) just wanted to know if any of the same small pieces that broke several times *appear* more solid. To put it in a nutshell, if it's gonna break (so it's better to go directly for the other ko) or if it's ok enough to go for this

You didn't think the THF Ultra Magnus was worth the 78 bucks I got it for? I thought it was great at that price. What was wrong with your where you didn't think it was worth it. Just curious.
Bot mode is fine/good for sure. It's the alt-mode where it is just frustrating like the MP-44 KO. Nothing wants to stay tabbed.
@@Windcharger that makes sense then. I have never transformed mine. The one disappointment I have is that the huge gin it come with is too heavy for the right arm. So I have to keep it in the left hand. Not a big deal since it is not the official KO of the UM gun. But still. 😁

Is the plastic materials better on the k.o.. I mean is it stronger.
It feels about the same to be honest but I transform mine within about the same care as the authentic.
I don't mind buying ko's, but the last few Transformers I purchased on ebay from China never showed up.

@@Windcharger it's been a year or two now at this point. Never purchased from aliexpress, wasn't sure if it was legit, ...maybe I'll give it a try.
Sellers won't get their money unless a certain period of time has passed or if you acknowledged that you got your stuff.
How much cheaper are KOs?
Depends on where you buy them. KOs can cost any where from $30 to $100. MP-47 was about $50-60?

That is not Knock Off man....its Factory Stocks....the pre productions is Factory Stocks....they keep in first place and use a little2 bit differ from production run thus is is TRIAL run
While real KOs is made by other fsctory and directly copy from other factory mold!!!

My original didn’t break and I was more careless in transforming my original than this. That said they both feel about the same.

Can you link where you got yours? Did you get the March release version or the older KO from this video?
The KO I have is the newly released one that just came out. There's supposed to be another one coming out... March I think but honestly, no one on Taobao (where I buy all my toys) have listed it. So I am not sure if there will be another one. I bought mine from Thor Toys on Taobao.com. Use Google Translate. I think Show Z also carries the same one but I ain't too sure.

@@LastBastian he has the Siege one, but he loves the MPs that look like the G1 cartoon. we call them "the fragile ones". gotta keep some of his favorites so he can mess with them without me freaking out.
