why do I keep hitting myself at times? it is so frustrating because at times I'll jump rope for a good 50 seconds straight without stopping then I flipping miss and hit myself. Any advice? I just want to be able to be consistent

@Free [He] based on what? Just a 'no' is your argument... How about experts who are 33x champions at jump rope that also told me it is wrong. It should not be arm pit height.
I've been struggling so far, so today I watched this tutorial, then I recorded myself as I jumped. Lo & behold, a personal discovery! The difference between this dude and my jump was night and day - I thought I kept my arms on the side closed enough and moved only my wrists, when in reality my forearms were opened wide and I was flapping like an awkward chicken. As soon as I corrected my form, it was smooth-sailing. To think I almost gave up and ignored my rope for 3 weeks.
You have no idea how excited I am to find a channel dedicated to jumping rope! I just started jumping rope as a regular exercise and I love how efficient it is. I was out here in the hot Florida sun for 2 hours trying to do a fast walk when I could get a better workout with jumping rope in 10 minutes. I'm hooked!
I just started jumping rope as a form of cardio, but my cousin was telling me that I was doing the butt kick and not holding the rope properly; That's what got me here. I was just doing it to move my body, in the spur of the moment sort of thing one does, so I didn't realize my form was all wrong.
I watched quite a few videos on jumping rope and none of them worked for me. I couldn't do one single rep. I watched this video, went outside and did sets of 20 just now for the first time ever and it felt awesome. The most critical bit of advice in this video is jumping low and standing on the balls of your feet (like you're wearing heels). If your feet aren't in the "heels" position, you are flat footed and the rope will crash into your legs. Also, no video has mentioned this but your first time you should be jumping on concrete. The rope hits the ground right before your legs, on something like grass, the rope bounces too high and ends up hitting your legs whereas there is less friction on concrete.

Hello, you probably won't see this but yesterday I got my first skipping rope for a '100 skips a day for 30 days' challenge. I felt ridiculous and embarrassed because I found it so hard, and after 20 minutes I was about to give up for the rest of the challenge. I watched this video a couple of times and compared it to my recording. Made some changes and today was SO MUCH BETTER! I got it done within 3 minutes and has to stop mainly because I was out of breath. I know it sounds silly but just being able to get it much smoother than yesterday feels amazing! Thank you!!
Since I started jump roping daily, since school's shut down due to corona I've packed on nearly 2kg of muscle. I went from 95 to 100lbs at 5'2, and I do an average of 1500-2000 reps a day haha. Got the cross jump and double jump down, after practicing every single day for like 30 mins lol.
The first time I practiced skipping rope was a year and a half ago, the first thing I did before I started exercising was watching this video, and now I can jump more than 200 times easily, thank you man.
It really works guys. I have been flat footing and locking knees all my life and couldn't jump rope. I just saw this video and tried again and I could. Now, all I need is practice so that I can excel in it.

Oh man, after a couple of weeks of jumping I thought I was advancing, but when I tried to move on to the boxer skip I realized I was doing the regular bounce wrong (I was double bouncing). I corrected to one jump per rotation today and man the workout kicked my ass and I'm back to sucking again. On the bright side, I gained a lot of stamina over the past couple of weeks. Back to the drawing board I guess. I think I was jumping too high today while trying to get the proper rhythm down and man I can feel it in my abs and legs after a 30 min workout (6 x 5min sets). I can see how one could get shredded doing this 5 times per week. I had my calorie deficit dialed in before I started jumping rope, so this is going to throw my weight loss program into hyperdrive.
You are doing all the right things! When I (dan) started jumping rope I could barely go for more than 15 consecutive seconds and can now do almost every trick. It WILL happen with time !
My problem is I can do all Dan said, jump small jumps, single jumps, everything except I trip over the rope after about 20 jumps- I don't want to do it but it happens, is it fatigue ? I am about 90 kgs of weight, so that is a lot of weight to be jumping

@@JumpRopeDudes aye cap'n. I stuck through with it and now I've found the rhythm. I feel more connected to the floor and trip way less than I do with shoes (10rep max). . What could be happening? 🤔

I have done this off and on ...since childhood... i now have arthritis in my knees and need an exercise that would be suitable ...do u think this might work
I just started today Started off jumping wayy too high and being able to only jump once By the end i jump correctly and can jump 8 times in a row Improvement right ?
When I started jumping rope, I literally couldn't do two. Took me several tries and me getting super angry. I dropped it for awhile and came back. I told myself to get 30 in a row, and once I reached that, I was able to do it well enough to continue without stopping until I became fatigued. That is amazing progress, just persevere!
Good video I was totally wrong for the knees thanks!! But you say 5 mn is that without break ? I have asthma and can't even run more than 4 mn without loosing my breath doctor said I should exercise to improve it even if I can't get suuper good but then what do you recommend for a begginner like maybe some reps and rest but I don't know how much would be effective for weight loss... Thanks in advance !
Doing something is better than doing nothing and weight loss will be driven by your food intake. Get in a small caloric deficit and exercise! If you need to build stamina go for shorter bursts in a 1:1 ratio.. For example Skip for 30s then rest for 30s and repeat. Build on this... Add more rounds as you get comfortable.
i can't even jump a rope once before watchinh this video, but now i can jump untill 30 times after watching this video. this is my first day of doing jumping rope and this video helps a lot.

I started jumping again today and i did 800 jumps(maybe more). I did 100 and took a rest then another 100 and so on. My jumps were very scattered by the last 200 jumps because i haven't jumped in a while but im proud of myself for pulling through. Hope i don't get lazy and stop like i always do😑
Way to do the thing!
I'm from Medellin, Colombia and just bought a jumping rope, was looking for tutorials to begin with and i find this one made by you at my city, nice work on the teaching side.

Is it necessary/required to glue your two foot?
I feel like I'm always timing it wrong and the damn rope keeps catchin on my feet from the front. 😭
Keep at it, practice makes the progress!
@@JumpRopeDudes aye cap'n. I stuck through with it and now I've found the rhythm. Can do 20 in a row before tripping up and hitting 300-500 skips a day. 👍🏻 Strangely enough, any footwear at all worsens it while barefoot works like magic. I feel more connected to the floor and trip way less than I do with shoes (10rep max). . What could be happening? 🤔
Most of us can get a streak but it's either we jump super high or we just hit our damn leg 😔
@@gweemiling8124 I totally feel ya 😅 way more of late. . 🤣
That is great but I want to know if moving only my wrists would make a difference in my shoulders and upper arms ?

SAMEEE
OMGGG I thought I was the only one! Like I physically can't jump once every turn 😩 my hands just don't wanna work with me
I do my jump ropes backwards I don't know why it's just more natural for me
Even me backside makes me comfortable
Thanks dude i have got it at the beginning
I just started today
Started off jumping wayy too high and being able to only jump once
By the end i jump correctly and can jump 8 times in a row
Improvement right ?
Yes!! Each day strive for small improvements! Let's go!
Zen Dude Fitness thanks for the tips and fast answer I will try that and see how far I can go !
You guys are freaking AWESOME! I just subscribed to your chanel and I love you both already!!!
I love how you gave detailed explanation. Better than those 1 minute videos. I managed to do it in 5 minutes. Thank!
nice!!!
as soon as I bent my knees it got 10 times easier
Is crossropes jump rope sizing recommendations accurate? I’m 5’10” and their drop down suggests a large rope
Thnx Zen bro
