    Most people that try to say “SBMM wasn’t as bad as people say” weren’t or aren’t good enough to experience the negatives.
    For me:
    1. Long que times
    2. Laggy matches
    3. Less skilled friends didn’t want to play with me

    I was playing comp with a few buddies, and we ran into a group with a really damn good blinklock with the rapid fire ib sidearm. Even though we were getting absolutely stomped, it was fun. Getting outplayed by movement is enjoyable. Getting ‘outplayed’ because someone pressed a button and got all their health back is not.

    The real problem is that there isn’t another game similar enough to destiny pvp to force positive changes. I just wish that there was some sort of repercussions for bungie constantly making decisions that hurt the more skilled players rather than people sticking around to the pure uniqueness of the game. I guarantee you if there was a game similar to destiny pvp and was going in a better direction sandbox wise, d2 would change.

      Agreed, defo need some competition that puts pressure on Bungie, but at the same time I think they can't really lose and what I mean by that is that Bungie is so good at stringing their players along to a point where they could literally commit murder and people would still blow their paychecks on cosmetics

    • @cheeble.
      @cheeble. 2 года назад

      this exact point applies to the pve as well, the game in general. d2 has no market competition and bungie know it. destiny players have nowhere to go. guaranteed the content vault doesn't exist in a world where d2 has a solid competitor.

      Personally I spend zero money on cosmetics. Only the expansions and seasons. So a 100 bucks for a year and a half. Pretty reasonable for me. Also the problem with this game as you said is that it encourages using op stuff to win. I hate those moments where I feel like there was literally nothing I could do after I die. Usually it’s like “I choked my shots, had bad positioning, should’ve gotten back to cover, etc.) but with some stuff you just can’t win. For me that’s high impact pulses and fusions. Fastest TTK in the game with 0 buffs. And still taster than others with kill clip. And fusions just are so easy to use and so hard to counter for me. Smgs also are kinda annoying for me when they have the range of a HC. Otherwise they’re fine

    I feel like people aren't realizing how hard Arc hunter is getting shafted. Bottom tree staff's perks Focused Breathing, Combat Meditation, and Lightning Reflexes are what made Arc hutner semi-viable in PvP aaaaannnd all of them are gone as far as we can tell.
    The armored-dodge bottom tree staff had literally made the class, and now you need to be "amplified" for it to proc which means you have to get a kill first. Who tf is trying to use an armored dodge AFTER a gunfight?? The point of the dodge is to get out of a gunfight while its happening, not after.

    I agree with this video completely. I've been saying with my clan for about a month now that there's no point in me trying to get any better at the game when I can play an engagement PERFECTLY, and some bot on the other team can just one shot me with a heavy throwing knife headshot which isn't hard at all.
    Then there's stuff like fusion rifles where they kill from 30m away with little accuracy required, and there charge times are so fast that I have to hit all CRITS with a .67 ttk SMG just to TRADE. Not win that gunfight. Keep in mind, this means I'd be prefiring on the fusion user which can be hard with some of the mag sizes on smgs.
    There' s massive problems with the supers too, like a golden gun that lasts 20 seconds and is used like a lastword by most players, with little care for accuracy. Behemoth super is still a clunky mess, you can't chain slides into heavy attacks, you can't aim the heavy slam once you right click to activate it, if you're on the ground and slam with it it's direction is based on your movement input?!?! (WASD), and more that make it feel like shit. And after the DR changes next season (good overall changes) it'll be even squishier.
    There's some parts of the game that just feel terrible and I feel like they've idiot-proofed a large part of the crucible for the casual playerbase while also lowering the skill ceiling so casual players can have a better chance. At this point though they've overtuned the casual loadouts while nerfing high level movement / concepts, instead of giving players an environment to improve on their skill, and help get a more even distribution of player skill naturally where people have more balanced loadouts and an opportunity to improve gamesense and movement to win gunfights rather than using the more overpowered weapon / ability to win them.

    • @michaelpacheco6549
      @michaelpacheco6549 2 года назад

      The only things I’m disagreeing with here at 1 throwing knives, most bots if not all of them don’t even use weighted knife and nothing has changed with them since they’ve been implemented. If you’re dying to them now, then you’ve died to them then and that’s 100% a skill issue. Same for 2, countering gg. It lasts longer the more you use it. So either kill it, which isn’t hard, or just run away from it with god knows how many movement abilities we have in this game. Ffs the gg can even hit marker at pulse rifle ranges. A single bubble pop completely counters the entirety of gg especially if the gg doesn’t have all of its shots. Just snipe it if you don’t have a counter ability or super. Not to mention it’s nearly a 10 minute super cooldown. I’ve been playing a shit ton of titan lately and hammers seems to be just as if not more oppressive than gg. Same or faster cooldown, ohk regardless of range, aoe, plus healing from sunspots plus damage resist. How are we complaining about gg STILL since d1 but not this?

    • @eaglethebot1354
      @eaglethebot1354 2 года назад +1

      @@michaelpacheco6549 I'm not sure what lobbies you're playing in, but if a projectile based super that has travel time is more oppressive that gg we're playing different opponents. On mnk with the connection based matchmaking pulling in some absolute gg demons, there's no chance you kill it before it gets you. And I agree, you can just run away from it to avoid it, but running away for 20 seconds from a super that has the ability to completely wipe your team is a hard sell in any objective based mode like control, trials, rift, etc. Even in the kill based modes it just leads to completely free team wipes for little effort, and if it doesn't wipe your team and you all successfully hide from it by some miracle, your team hiding has just given the entire enemy team control over the map, and likely started a huge snowball effect for them. There is no other super in the game that can guarantee your team gets map control (either by starting a hide n seek minigame or just straight up wiping you all), besides maybe shadebinder, but even that uses projectiles for its super so its more avoidable with movement. Hammer titan can be oppressive if you know what you're doing with it, but the time between hammer throws is long enough to open up chances to counter it, especially when fighting another super that the hammers are NOT able to one shot (all but gg). GG functions like a long range, one-shot TLW and I've had issues with it since D1. Only difference is back then it was on controller on 30fps, so it wasn't pinpoint accurate, and it was harder to track enemies. Now at 144+ fps with precise mnk aim, challenging a gg with anything but a lucky sniper headshot is just suicide and throwing your life away. This season being solar focused just exacerbated the issue and brought it to light for more people.
      I didn't die nearly as much to one shot throwing knives in the past because not everyone and their mom was playing solar hunter before, and even without exotics like athrys it has ridiculous auto aim. I've died too many times to throwing knives that on my screen I've seen coming at me and fly past my head to miss, but it gives them a kill. In a 1v1, the animation, travel time, and p2p network inconsistencies lead to trades or me outright being killed before I can get them, even if I'm beaming with 100% accuracy. At close range its even stronger since its travel time is reduced, and I've seen way too many people in lobbies leading gunfights with throwing knives, because they know there's a good chance it'll give them a free kill. It also refreshes itself on a headshot kill so its always ready to be used. Even if they miss the headshot its still around 130 damage from ANY distance. Basically functions as a linear fusion rifle with its windup, flinch resist, and absurd aim assist, and we've all been on the wrong end of a LFR before. Like with anything else in the game, if its not a primary but someone's leading every gunfight with it, they're using a specialized weapon or ability in too many situations that it was originally designed for. If they're doing this all the time, the game has allowed them to get too comfortable with doing this as they've succeeded with something beyond its intended use way too often, and they've now built a habit. And this idea extends to snipers at shotgun range, snipers headshotting through flinch, people peeking every corner with a precharged fusion, LFR warriors sliding around and still headshotting through flinch, etc.
      I get that you're frustrated with titans, and the damage resist and sunspots, and if I had it my way there'd be no DR for free in pvp, reduced DR amount on supers, and no free healing or overshields. At this point I can't take this game's pvp seriously since any combo of heals, overshields, and DR just completely changes the feel of my weapons and TTK. A lot of gunfights (or ability fights) are out of my control as to who wins, even if i COMPLETELY outplay AND out-aim my opponent, because they stacked more OS, DR, healing, etc., and its a shitty experience that ruins any motivation I had before to try and play well. I used to like helping friends through trials since I was comfortable enough in my abilities that I could win most matchups and die to players on the other team that were genuinely outplaying me. Nowadays I load in and there's so many different things on the enemy team that can instant kill me, that there's no point in me trying to play with purpose or try to be intelligent about gunfights, because some guy on the other team is going to one-shot me regardless of how well I play each fight.
      I get that I could just git gud or just adapt, but those playstyles are so oppressive that most times the only playstyle to counter it is to abuse it yourself, which continues the cycle. I feel that the devs have nerfed higher skill players and massively dropped the skill ceiling in order to make pvp more approachable for people, and they've introduced these one-shot abilites / weapons too for people to have a better fighting chance without them having to put in the effort to play better. When you realize that high skill players also have access to these stupid strong abilities and weapons, the game becomes unplayable at a certain level unless you're abusing that stuff.
      At this point I just load in to work on my aim. Win or lose the rewards are the same, and if my friends and I can't get flawless we can explain it away with the other team using the strongest stuff in the game, or us having bad team coordination. Not worth my time to stress over and if there's no serious improvement in pvp qol next season, or no promises for it in s19, I'll step away for a while to focus on myself or other things I enjoy.

    And I totally agree about the “playing to win” part. It’s why I hate elim as a game mode too. Playing to win, like to truly maximize win % at all costs, is so unfun. The two things that are fun about destiny for me are the shooting and how knowledge of the sandbox and how to use the unique abilities destiny gives allow for cool movement and playmaking. Even some of the less mechanically skilled stuff, like calibans hand, is still silly fun. But what grinds my gears is that the most optimal way to win is to stack as many team buffs as possible and not move.

    I fully agree. I tried to get good at one stage and definitely got somewhat better. Then I realised destiny is not the game to try to get good at. Ever since I just don't give a crap about getting better and just try to play for fun, when possible.
    Outliers in the sandbox take 4-6 months to get patched and by then there are more outliers that won't be patched for another 4 months. It's a game that forces you to play the outliers or get beaten by them. Because everyone else is trying so hard to be "good". Being good in this game means equipping the most op gun and subclass and abusing them.
    The game punishes you for trying to get good at a non "meta" play style or weapon setup. I'll still play destiny, but Bungie have stated by their actions, they are not concerned with making a competitive fps game. There will always be incredibly over tuned subclasses, weapons, abilities.
    Honestly idk why titans would complain. Void titan is, right now, the strongest subclass in the game. It might be 4 yrs before D2 is in a somewhat balanced state. As soon as blue protocol is out I'm gone.

    "Hey bro, EVERYTHING that's actually meant to be skillful and takes time to learn. Ya knows, for the supposed people who are to be, "proud of their skills" yeah, let's just cater to the very casual PvE player and hold their hand through every crucible match.
    BRO! I am not ASKING for PvP to be fuckinb CSGO level of competitiveness. I I am not asking for it to be Rainbow Six Siege World Tournament status. I am not asking for IT TO BE FUCKING LEAGE OF LEGENGS WORLD PREMIER CHAMPIONSHIPS. My biggest gripe is that it's the same fucking people who have no basic kindergarten situational awareness, or eye coordination to keep up with movement, and no fucking 3rd grade motor function to work their aim, that BITCH ABOUT Crucible being, "sO hArd"
    My Brother In Christ. I have had more challenge and frustration playing the old fucking mario games on the old NES and Nintendo 64 then I did playing Crucible. BUT I DIDN'T GO BITCHING TO NINTENDO TO NERF THEM FUCKING GUMBASS OR MAKE THE LEVELS EASIER NOW DID WE???
    GOD! Maybe. MAYBEEE!!! You just put in a bit of time to learn the basic mechanics of the game hmmm???
    "buT, bUt, bUt, I have a full time job and family and don't want to spend time learning how to play the game"
    YOU'RE RIGHT! I AGREE! ABSOLUTELY 110% AGREE!
    So Stick to playing PVE BRO! GOD WHY IS IT SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND!. Sometimes there are things in life that you just can't be good at everything. My ass LOVED playing Rainbow Six Siege. But I knew better that I wasn't going to hit Plat or hit even Gold. Because that's just too much time consuming. So my ass stuck to casual. And I had a good time with it.
    Damn. Who would've thought. I recognized my weakness, realized that I just wasn't going to have the time to learn how to actually play Rainbow, so u know what I did??
    Stayed in my lane. Played casual or unranked so I can get somewhat better. Damn that's crazy, who would've thought.
    There are SO MANY exotic weapons and armor pieces that I'D LOVE TO GET in Destiny bro. But HOLY FUCK PVE IS SO FUCKING BORING! How do people like that shit bro?? I can't force myself to touch it, so u know what I do? Play Crucible all day
    And u know how I felt when there was some incentive in getting pinnacle weapons in comp? ECSTATIC!
    But I'll be damned. The PvE folks flooded the gates of Comp and realized that they're too fucking dogshit to get the cool weapons😭. So u know what they did? Bitched. Absolutely Bitched till Bungie said, "Nobody is getting a pinnacle weapom from Crucible"
    BRO! I wanted NOT Forgotten so fucking bad man. But I knew I wasn't going to get it anytime soon. So u know what I did? Not cared.
    Literally did not give a shit.
    I took my Lunas Howl and said, "you know what, this ain't too bad, at the end of the day there'll be a better weapon to grab from PvE to bring over to PvP anyway" BUT MOTHERFUCKERS JUST DONT UNDERATAND THAT!😭😭😭
    Anyway Lunarz. Enjoyed the vid🙏 I think arc 3.0 will fucking slap. Excited too see what the Titans kit will be like. Play it for a solid week and then go back to Zelda Breath of the Wild🤣

      I agree with most of ur ideas but feel u missed the point of the video. SBMM isn’t an evil thing major example being the one you gave where it actually works. SBMM is just awful in D2 for anyone top level for a seemingly infinite amount of reasons. To be honest based on your description you actually might enjoy it so I’d try to stay optimistic. But I do share ur frustration on a lot of the other issues.
      Think what not a lot of people are talking about is that it’s just going to divide the community again which is something bungie seems to love doing. Top level players who make content on the game will be playing an entirely different game to the casuals watching. Just doesn’t sound healthy to me for any game.

    I’m proud of the skills I’ve developed, using a utility special in witherhoard, double turrets/coldsnap and BxR together for the past however long
    Its nice to be able to force players to play my game and stop them from special jousting me all day and night (for the most part)
    I just don’t feel rewarded, at all
    I get more out of a few hours of GMs than I would out of an entire season of playing PvP
    And I don’t count sweatier matches as a reward lmao
    If Comp had mementos for hitting certain tiers every season I might be able to justify playing 3v3 more, which is imo the worst setup to play in Destiny, period

      I see you have taken the cammy cakes route lol. Glad you have grown to appreciate your skill acquisition, that means there is still something for you to aspire to, but yeah 3v3 in this game is unbelievably bad unless it has its own sandbox.

    Sup Lou, I've been taking to heart your videos lately, finding exploitable habits and complexity of engagements are two things i've been working on. Thanks man, you're really an inspiration.
    Even been trying some of your loadouts, like, replaced the shotgun for a SMG to be less predictable and my hand cannonfor a BxR to be more consistent, tried the Lion, it's solid lmao.
    On that note, in this video you mention Titan skills that go beyond what i'll guess are Lorelei or OeM, could you please tell me more?
    I guess i'm a midle of the pack titan, so any mid-advanced tip from you would be awesome.
    GL and i wish you like Arc 3.0 man, really love the topics you talk about, it's actually helped me improve.

      Thanks for the kind words man, I think titan has a lot of options for exotics for sure. I would argue they have gotten the most out of arc 3.0 easily. Some exotics include heart of inmost light, Anteus wards, peacekeepers especially if you want to get into smg play

    Its either gonna blink shotty meta. Or maybe Juggernaut & Knockout with Glaives which will be infuriating as the Titan could also run AC DC too and just become a melee monster with free regen and an extra overshield.

    Juggernaut might just be to annoying to make any of it matter. I rolled the shit outta my eyes when i was reading the arc preview stuff. Sounds like more seasons with little to no primary fights and abilities.

    • @bluyu
      @bluyu 2 года назад

      Honestly, the only reason I'm not totally upset about Juggernaut returning is that it'll at least make campy players scared. I'm done with hardscopers killing through flinch. Snipers should be encouraged to either be aggressive or utilize off-angles and be creative with how they get their kills, but it's the opposite right now. If there was an aspect that gave Glacier grenades a much faster cooldown but lower hp, damage, and duration, I could see them being a lot cooler as a utility tool to break up lanes, create cover and platforms, and trap opponents. It might be a bit strong, but it would at least synergize with good gunplay and allow creative positioning. The ability spam we have right now decreases that in comparison.

  • @bluyu
    @bluyu 2 года назад +1

    It's hard to determine whether I have actual skill when tourettes messes up my aim very frequently. Though to answer this question, I'd probably say no. It's not that I'm not skilled enough to be proud about it, rather than the fact it's Destiny and its current state, it seems silly to be proud about being good in this game. If I had it my way, we'd still have special ammo at the start of a match, but special would still follow the D1 system. Your barricade would stop recharging for a bit if its broken, stronger grenades would be less spammable, sliding would be unnerfed, and accuracy in the air would be the same as it is on the ground. Anyone should be able to patio however they want, and that includes skilled players. You shouldn't have to build into things that are just fundamental to being good in a game. This should only be the case with abilities, but the direction we're headed in is so ability-heavy and riddled with cheese that the game never feels fair to play anymore. Year 1 was ironically the most balanced meta in D2, because you had to actually manage your abilities and almost every gun had its own unique value. I'm all for movement abilities and abilities that synergize with gunplay, but that's not what we get most of the time. I'd like to see stuff where you can actually combo shots from your gun with your abilities to secure a kill, or even have movement options that allow you to still shoot while doing them. Right now, the game kinda just plays itself for people, and there's not much thought behind PvP. The little thought that there is isn't rewarded, and hard weapons have become too easy to use. At the moment Paladins is more fun. I love playing VII and zooming around the map to gain positional advantages despite the fact that people think he's not super good.

      Sorry to hear about your issue and dont feel bad about being good at this game. Hell, i took a lot of pride in being good at Mario Kart and that game is rng as hell lol. But I agree, why should we have to build into things that are just standard in other shooters? Lotta these changes are around to nuter the skill gap imo.

  • @jhan-ducduclos8086

    I’d say that I’m proud of my skill, but it is frustrating that often times I can get good damage in on an opponent and still lose the gun fight cause they threw a healing grenade or dodged for more health mid fight. I know that top players struggle less against these scenarios but I’m not that caliber. I also noticed my skill being made less relevant when there are things like calibans hand that can ignite my teammate or me behind cover and instantly collat an ally.
    It’s stuff like that which I don’t feel belongs in the sandbox. It’s okay to go feel powerful in pve but the reason I play pvp is for the gunplay. Not for the ability to just guarantee 1v1’s if I have an ability up.

    Can you make a video on statistical skill (kd, headshot percentage, kill total) vs actual performance. I have a 0.98 kd but it is more like a 1.35 when not taking into account past poor performance from over a year ago so if you looked up my stats you might think I’m average but if you played with/against me you would see I’m actually decent at the game. I know kd is a stat that doesn’t have much much meaning but that is exactly my point

    Yea it suck’s it makes players like yourself feel like you can’t really appreciate your skill because you get penalized for being good. Also sucks it’s kinda pushed you away from the game as well. I do agree with the whole make pvp game modes more rewarding. Especially modes like comp/survival. It was so fun chasing Lunas and NF. At that time it felt great cuz you were working towards something. Then when you reached said goal you were awarded with a gun that was specifically for pvp hence why it was so good. But since so many players couldn’t get it themselves for ( insert reason here) they complained so dang much it was nerfed to the ground then sunset on top of it. They def need to give us pvp exclusive players something to grind for. So what if I don’t get it right away or maybe even at all. At least it would keep me going for it. I’m by no means at your level but ultimately it’s a team game and I believe if you play well with your team you can beat any team at least once. It’s good to see you upload a destiny vid ad hope they entice players like yourself with something to bring you guys back. We won’t ever match because I play on console but some of the best console players share the same frustration with pvp as whole as well. Loved the content and would like to see more of your gameplay in the future.

Cant say i hate destiny pvp but cant really say i love it either. You get titans spamming barricades an omni hunters constantly spamming their invis while also using the no skill broken weapons. Which is no fun to play against nor do i find it rewarding to play with honestly. It takes several matches for me to actually get into 1 that i find some balanced an enjoyable to play in.

    The first step bungie should take is moving fusion rifles and linears into the heavy ammo slot.. there’s no reason that they should OHK with so much ease.. I think shotguns are in a good place rn but sniper flinch needs to be reworked.. then move onto the void subclasses.. void is such an outlier compared to all the other subclasses that they aren’t even viable in comparison to void.. Idc what anyone says void titan is way more oppressive than void hunter.. on demand OS is nuts and Omni is what made invis broken not invis itself… and after all that fix rapid fire pulses and ntte then watch the player base be a little more grounded.. and for f**** sake please don’t put in another healing mod

    "Special weapon and ability jousting" man, I had 5 matches straight yesterday of multiple titans on the other team with their Ape Shields running around using exclusively special weapons. It drives me crazy that such low skill play gets rewarded in this game. Meanwhile I watch your game play and see your impeccable primary aim, and that's what i strive to be, what I feel true skill looks like, alongside game awareness obviously. I truly find special weapons to be a problem, or really anything that one shots in pvp. One shotting, to me, is not competitive at all. It puts you in a game of cat and mouse, where you have to play extremely carefully while they can wildly charge with the next one shot ability/weapon

    What needs to happen is armor mods as well as gun mods need to be taken out of the game. This way destiny can Focus on subclass and weapons. The reason being if you can make the subclasses better and weapons better on a fundamental level you don’t really need mods to make the game better.

    if they removed pvp tomorrow, id be okay with it, after years of constant downspiral choices made by the dev team. Its gotten to the ppint where theyre completely lost on where to take pvp and its sandbox, and deleting outright seems like a more justifiable decision than constantly making it worse.

    Destiny 2 lacks consistency in their actual combat system when playing other people. You can see it everywhere from the matchmaking to the weapons to jumping. There’s freedom in choice but also an ugly choice. Y’all choose what works. Easy, cheesy, whatever. And bungie is aware but I don’t think knows what to do.

  • @cimirie01
    @cimirie01 2 года назад +1

    Wait... you talk about Bungie needing to value high skill maneuvers more, but then complain about "in air effectiveness???" Nerfing acrobatic stompee HC auto aimers was probably the best enhancement to PVP they've inputted in ages. Please don't try to build up air combat as a high skilled maneuver. It aint. And never has been. Not with the way the guns did the work for you with a single mod addition.
