everyone’s talking about how lauren reminds them of the 2007-2010 elphies and i just wanna talk about how the camerawork and quality here is so so SO reminiscent of bootlegs from that era too like the zoom in during „and if i’m flying solo“ and zoom out during „no wizard that there is or was“
So glad to scroll the comments and see that I am not the only person who cried watching this live. I was utterly overwhelmed. Lauren is one of the greats, for sure.
I totally agree with you. Both of them are really good, but I will be watching for her in any production. She’s in from now on. She was utterly amazing and yes, I got chills. And I was way up in the mezzanine area of the theater. I have tears in my eyes watching it nowbecause of these two actresses I think I’ve moved wicked up to be my top three musicals of all time.
Lauren Samuels has come a long way!!! Been a fan since the BBC OVER THE RAINBOW following her West End journey and now she's making her way internationally for American Audiences!!!!
Was in tears when Lauren was sing Defying Gravity yesterday at Princess of Wales Theater for Wicked also honor have seen her as my first Elphaba I've seen on stage also Austin be my first Glinda.
I'm so glad they are giving new girls the chance to play these roles on tour and broadway instead of recycling some of the same women who have played the role for a decade or longer ❤❤❤
AAAAAAA💀💀💀 THIS I understand Wicked want the show to have as long of a run as possible before closing but I think sometimes they don't realise that recycling old Elphaba standbys/understudies and bumping them up to lead isn't the be all and end all of how Wicked survives as a show. Wicked needs fresh faces to keep it going such as Hannah Corneau, Lindsay Pearce, Liza DeGuzman and Lauren Samuels. People staring out in the role for the very first time and exploring new depths to Elphaba that aren't just inspired by previous Elphaba's.
I am not kidding just 1 hour ago I got back from seeing them and I got their autographs, photos with them and they both signed my red lipstick😍 also Fiyero is the love of my life... so that's my rant😌🤲🏼
The best Elphaba I have ever heard, and the best acted. No one will ever come close; just outstanding. Going to be in New York in July 2027. GOD, I really hope she will be in Wicked by then🥹🥹🥹🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
OH MY GOD! This is so impressive! The whole performance is exciting, her acting great and her voice powerful! The battle cry so effective! I LOVED HER!
I have loved Lauren since she was on Over the Rainbow in the UK years ago and she's just phenomenal, this made me emotional! She absolutely smashes this amazing vocals and acting on point all through!
“I carrrrrnt want it” (2.00) sublime - her dedication to this part of the script where Elphaba is so determined and absolute in her decision is everything - I’m so excited about her journey x 💚
7:15 you can see on the broom there’s a hook for the invisible wire used to fly the broom in… something I’ve always wondered/wanted to see, how they attach/detach the wire to the broom so smoothly
I can hear it 💯 on the first lines when she says: this must be the attic, we have to barricade the door. And on the first few lines of the song. So much so I first thought this was the west end production. But then the accent disappeared for the most part lol. But shes so good I don’t mind at all
She acts as she sings, her voice is full of personality; she sounds like the old Elphabas. We needed that again so badly.

This is so specific and niche that the ones who get it get it?💚
You worded this so perfectly
The nostalgia is real. So nice to see that camerawork again ❤️
looks like that one Julia boot
idina's opening night performance in london comes to mind

Sobbed from the cheap seats side of balcony. Friend did as well. She is 100% one of the greats.
not that anyone asked but I actually went to high school with Austen, and she is still so talented. so proud of where she has gone
that's actually badass, ngl.
You’d think she’s been playing this role for years, she’s INSANELY good. Also getting Chelsea Emma Franko vibes!
I am BLOWN AWAY. Damn. A top tier elphaba FOR SURE.
I feel like we're back in the golden age of Wicked - she sounds like Marcie and Julia and this footage is giving closeups on a real camera. LOVE IT.
Lauren Samuels reminds me of the Elphies of 2007-2010 when I first became a fan of the show. And I LOVE her portrayal!

Me too!!! So proud of her
and me ❤

I love her British accent sneaking in hehe. Sooo good! 💚 I love how she’s made it her own but has snippets of Rachel Tucker and Kerry Ellis too.
Just saw her tonight. It’s so much better in person I can’t even explain. She. Is. Phenomenal.
Lauren is giving Jackie Burns eyes and I’m so here for it. Brilliant acting and voice!
Saw them tonight and was blown away by Lauren. I have seen Wicked 4 times and she is the best Elphaba I have seen live up to now
I am not kidding just 1 hour ago I got back from seeing them and I got their autographs, photos with them and they both signed my red lipstick😍 also Fiyero is the love of my life... so that's my rant😌🤲🏼

I heard Lauren Samuels sing for the first time, during “Wicked” a few days ago. She was great.
2027? You're planning ahead!
OH MY GOD! This is so impressive! The whole performance is exciting, her acting great and her voice powerful! The battle cry so effective! I LOVED HER!
wow! jawdropping. Hope she will make her broadway debut as Elphaba too.
I have loved Lauren since she was on Over the Rainbow in the UK years ago and she's just phenomenal, this made me emotional! She absolutely smashes this amazing vocals and acting on point all through!

She is so incredibly good??? And so new to the cast
Wow. She is PHENOMENAL! Very “old school” Elphaba, in the best way! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
She looks a little like Julia Murney, I won’t lie. I’m living for her!!
Yes yes yes! Amen to this she fully does
Glad I’m not the only one who thinks this ^
@@eddieking4621 omg sameee!! And the wizard and I video too, I can totally see it
I thought the same.
Between that and her sounding like Marcie and other golden age Elphies - she is just beautiful
What a great performance 😍 The voice, the acting… ✨😍 phenomenal. 💚
Broadway and West End NEXT!!!!
I"ll be see her in Toronto in June and July also Lauren and Austin is amazing as well.

7:09 her eyes
Do you have no good deed and no one mourns the wicked
Love her tone! I hear some Marcie Dodd and Julia Murney.
Thank you thank you thank you
cried seeing her live
THIS WITCH! She is amazing!
Agreed and can't to see Lauren and the cast on July 21st in Toronto.
7:15 you can see on the broom there’s a hook for the invisible wire used to fly the broom in… something I’ve always wondered/wanted to see, how they attach/detach the wire to the broom so smoothly
I believe it’s a semi-strong magnet
Lauren is majestic, unwaivering, and charismatic!
Amazing. Just superb ❤
Brand new wicked trailer out today and then this comes out aswell ❤️❤️
Oh they are good!!! I really needed this to cleanse my pallet after watching the trailer. Can't wait to see them at the Pantages in Los Angeles!!!
Holy shit ❤
Might see her in Winter and Wicked for their first time! 😊
That “kiss me goodbye” 😮
Bravo!!!!!!
CHILLS CHILLSSS!!!!!! So GOODDD
Amazing!
wow
tea!
❤
6:40 I WAS NOT EXPECTING THIS !!
I came here because i saw DEFINING gravity
finally someone who actually cares about what they're recording, didn't see a bootleg so well-recorded in ages
Wicked back london show show footage sound
Do you have For Good? 💚
It seems like their mics need to be a little louder.
Literally jstarz, secretly defying combined filming skills, you cannot convince me that you are not those 2
bruhhh
I wonder what she would sound like in a British accent
She sounds like Shona white a bit
Visually she’s giving me Lisa Brescia
Exactly what I thought with a hint of Julia Murney and Teal Wicks ❤😊
I wish they let her use her natural accent. Oz is fantasy - they don’t have to play American.
Is it just me or is here British accent coming though on certain words?! Not saying that to throw shade. I love her
Just you
Just you. I hear not even a hint of an accent coming through.
just saw her tonight and had no idea she was british till after the show. she did spectacular
