The dancers are supposed to mimic how the ducks move. This dance originated in Pateros, Bulacan where raising ducks was the main livelihood. Thus, "itik" means duck. "Itik-itik" means duck-like.

I was in grade 2 when we danced that tinikling on our field day at Guadalupe Elem. School Escuela St.Pitogo Guadalupe Makati...i have picture wearing that dress only colour was different combi of light pink n purple...I'm going 64 now and it's wonderful to reminisce my younger happy days...days of innocence and play...😍🤩🤗

I remember this itik-itik and tinikling dance when I was 5th grade in our MAPEH, we perform badly at first, but my teacher (legend), she says to try harder, and guess what , we made it perfectly :) , thanks for this video sir ^_^

Siguro kahit ganyan parin ang sayaw maganda siguro tingnan ,kasi maraming mga magagandang babae ngayon,nga lang sa panahon ngayon parang mga pokpok tingnan ang karamihan sa mga babae lalo na sa pagsasayaw.. As you can see it's influence more by Hispanic folk songs and dances except the Muslim dance in the South. Sad to say no FilAm Pinoy teach these to their kids except in some universities in the US.

@Jacky Phantom yeah, I kinda noticed that too as a Filipino living in the Philippines I'm so amazed at Japan having a lead in Technology and preserving their culture at the same time. In the Philippines though, our culture is mostly influenced by Spanish, especially our religious festivities.
