Some wrote this in the chat that I thought we be of good source for further reading:
    Osaka
I work with neurologists, in a team who specialise in psychophysics (the relationship of stimulus to response and measuring those systems)
Creativity is usually an escape from the physical world that is too physically painful to exist in in which the problem cannot be surmounted in the conventional sense.
As a result, drugs tend to be the other coping mechanism alongside creativity as a form of cathartic expression.
Discipline is finite. Even if you achieve your biological maxim, if your problems are unsolvable with the tools you're provided with, you're eventually going to stop trying.
Why? Neurotransmitters are finite state machines. All finite state machines evaluate future states of systems against utility.
The resource spent (seratonin) performing that evaluation is a positive feedback loop to improve the evaluation of ideal outcomes.
If no ideal outcomes exist consistently, the seratonin levels are depleted or the system renormalizes to different levels and the utility function can't be performed.
The other outcome is addictive "righteous indignation" which links entitlement and anger together, to create new seratonin, at the cost of bypassing social circuitry and evaluation stuff in the brain.
The point of substance abuse is to be a carrot to the force the system to start performing evaluations, resume its Observe/Orient/Decide/Act goal oriented action planning loop and continue functioning
    Also good talk

Because artists are not normal people and normal people are unbareable for the artists without anything like alcohol or drug.

Addiction is related to early childhood (between birth and age 4) trauma, whether the person is an artist or not.

Definitely can be from trauma later in life too but I think the younger you are the more impact the trauma does have

Thanks for explaining this in a short video. I've wanted someone else to say this for years.

Damn finally someone talking abt this. I check this subject ever(y) so often to see if anyone has wanted to delve into the dissection of this phenomena.
Tbh Im an addict who has to use multiple substances on a daily basis (not necessarily by choice but because of withdrawal and whatnot and its because I've fallen into the trap of feeling like I cant do anything sober except eat pizza and watch documentaries. (Which i literally did for 8 months last year and it was just so unsatisfying and things that sbould have brought me joy just didnt. While high i literally work on so many projects every day from painting to making clothing, playing music, and painting entire murals in my house. And yea it gets in the way sometimes, i recently lost my job because i stayed up too late painting my floor all fancy and missed work. Now im jobless during corona and and alll ive wanted to do is escape the whole time. More than i ever have. Ill be painting one thing and while that dries i start painting another thing and the process goes on and on until im laying on the floor which is painted like the cosmos in a pile of technicolor holographic fabrics, sequins, wet paint and instruments. Im being so avoidant of the real world, i hate food service and feel like im worth so much more but being a drug addict also means im broke which means i have no car so being on time with shitty LA transportation can be an issue. I just care so much more about putting reality as i know it through the shredder of fantastical dreamscapes. Images of buildings are thrown in the reality reinventor and come out 20s dada inspired, crank each stone from the path in my backyard into the rotary of my mind and get like 80 individual sparkly paintings for the magic walkway im making. I dont want to just escape i want to fully submerge myself into the intergalactic plasma of an unfinished body of celestial slime. As i swim through ol milky joes primordial essence the alarm goes off and i have to get back to reality (whoop there goes gravity lololol cringe.) It takes me a long time to switch mindsets. Going into a job where threres no use for my cerebral freakery that could be usrd but itsnt is so damn depressimg. I wish there were more jobs out there for us freaks. I dont even think i seem that weird to others.
Ok maybe i do because i just wrote the longest reply om here ive ever had. Also has to do with thr sad fact im out of my necessary drugs so i had to settle for some xanz. I forsee myself laying in bed all day till i get ahold of someone with the pastel parasite, the kind of stuff that endangers the inexperienced, that drags down the hopeless and in some occasions drenches the artistic, romantic user in an iridescent glow. Best to wade in waters of ever-changing color so you never know which magnetic droplet of color will fall to your index finger and help guide a good paint spritz or encourage spazzy passive acting of two fists filled with a paint color you didnt choose. Sometimes the paint color chooses you. Or me. Mostly because im almost out of most my stuff. Boohoo. I really need someone to hide my art supplies so i can try and get a job lol.
Btw THANKYOU for letting me rant so long on here. Well i guess i just kinda did. Oops.

Just said i read you comment to the end. Creativity is good, hope you figure it out in this life to keep you move forward. About drug, you need to be sober to know how truly you feel, of course substances make you “feel” but just a play. Consider it, best wishes for you
