At about 4:45 One of the Dallas fire departments, let me reactive their old Tbolts, on Wednesday, March 16th, 2022.
So basically, after a long day of attempting set off Dallas thunderbolts with a few other people, and multiple rejections from the fire departments, I decided it was time to head home. However, I decided on my way back home, I would go check out the Thunderbolt I always see off the highway. I was expecting nothing much from them, and I really got nothing from them at first lol. I asked one of the younger firefighters if he knew anything about the old air raid siren standing out back, he said knew nothing about it and was very interested to hear the history about it. I asked him if I could go back and check for controls, to which he politely declined. After this, I started walking back to my car when all of the sudden I heard the same guy yell “Hey Siren Kid!”, and the tbolt blared on. It turned out the firefighter I was talking to, told the guy who knows about the tbolt. After this , I grabbed my camera equipment and they let me set it off for about 30 seconds through the breaker box. I wasn’t quite sure where the RCM panel was, until I looked right next the breaker box, it had been painted over. The firefighter had to hit it a few times to get the cover in stuck lol. It was over all an amazing and unexpected experience.
The car alarm going off just adds to the experience. It wanted to chime in with the fun! Now that’s a great video!
At 1:42 it sounds like a Simplex Truealert doing march time.
Its been about 16 years since Dallas retired their Thunderbolt sirens. I am glad to hear one of them sound off after years of not being activated. I grew up in Dallas and went to Stults Road Elementary School back in 1985, where there is a Thunderbolt right outside the gymnasium. I remember it scared me when it went off on the first Wednesday of the month at 1PM. My classroom was room B-107, nearly 300 feet away from the siren. The building and windows vibrated as I covered my ears when the Thunderbolt was pointed in my direction. Sometimes we would all go into the hallway and practice taking shelter as if there was a tornado approaching. The old siren is retired of course, but still there today, unless it was recently taken down. Thunderbolts really put off some loud sound, and I will be glad to share my childhood memories of the Dallas Thunderbolt sirens.
Thank you for sharing. These thunderbolts are truly a part of Dallas’ civil defense history.
Nice! It had a somewhat good start compared to the other old thunderbolts in Dallas and then it went crazy after that.
man… old toyota alarms go hard
They sure do man, last forever just like the cars
Damn for sitting that long that thing doesn’t sound too bad, those single phase 5M blowers seem to have pretty long wind downs! Awesome video!!

@@SoonerStateSirens1 Are you okay?-
@@SoonerStateSirens1 I don't think so.
Honestly they should have replaced the T bolts with T-128's.
Ah yes, T-1338

@@TheSirenSeeker thank you.
I wish testing houston's was possible
sure nice of them to do something like that
thats awesome! nice video!
Ultra exquisite
Nice !! always wanted to set on off
It sounds like a ASC T-128 tbh.
Nice stuff!
Is this Thunderbolt still active or it just a re-activation??
All I can say is, it’s still hooked up to power
Alright
Nice!
Dallas moment
Hello, may I have permission to use the siren part of this video in a school presentation?
Yes, of course.
Nice
how did they re installed this thing. its from the 1950s. did they fix it or something
it kinda just, sat there. Inactive for many years.
then it was given power and it fired up without any worries.
It's a 4m. That is 60s/70s
It was probably well-maintained from the 50s all the way up to 2009.
@@TheCasualSirenEnthusiast its a 6M-5M
@@OWS_Crazy1 oh ok. thank you
Oooooooooohhhhhhhhhh
Can I go ask them to set it off
I already did two times, and they told me they prefer not to set it off again. Doesn’t me they won’t though. The fire Chief at the station knows about the siren.
@@OWS_Crazy1 u should go video station 48 thunderbolt with the air traffic lights on em
Wow two got requested in 1 day
I wish doing a houston soundoff request was possible.
Your best chance is to find one at a fire department, then you gotta see if it’s still connected to power.
@@OWS_Crazy1 yeah...
If I ever come down to Houston I might come check them out
@@OWS_Crazy1 and I would love to come if you can request it
@@OWS_Crazy1 None exist at fire departments, and the power on them was cut many years ago.
Bet you that guy never felt so lucky in the world because what he just did. :)
Yup
Is this the olde version of a T-128?
Ik it’s not it’s a joke
Is it me? or is the sirens pitch dropping?
Probably, this was the first time this siren had been activated in like 12 years
Thats a gas powered thunderbolt right?
No, that would be a thunderbolt 2000
Is that one gas powered?? 👀👀
Nope, not that old
Done
Done with what?
you mean a Thunderbolt 1000T?
It’s a 1000
Its a 1000 because it's single tone.
