Dev Baty My point is this. I simply know that Satan is slick and he will have people saying they believe the gospel, but then they look at their behavior and life, etc. And they start saying stuff like: If you are saved you will ______. If you believed the gospel you are saved [period].
Salvation is not in any way associated with how you live your life...Jesus is Lord not contingent on you. And, when Jesus said why do you call me Lord and do not the things I say do, he was talking to the Rich young ruler who CLAIMED he keep the law since his youth. And as you said, you DON"T do the things Jesus said to do. Jesus said, if you love me KEEP my commandments. The scriptures say, be ye PERFECT, as you Father in heaven is perfect.
The scriptures don't say, "try your best" or "be almost perfect".
That is to drive you to the fact that only Christ kept the commandments and is perfect.
But the scriptures do say:
Hebrews 10:14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

Do you say, "I'm save by grace so I'm going to just run amuck and do what I want to do since I'm going to heaven anyway" or is your heart posture in check? I'm 100% certain that I said I understand that we're saved by grace through faith. My love for The Lord does make me want to do His will though. I honestly don't understand what the argument is about, having said that. Do you not desire to do The Lord's Will?? You're speaking as though someone said you need to "be good to get to heaven" when I haven't seen (or heard) anyone say that.

God gave me a word of encouragement that God wanted the people who felt beat up from their journey to "change their posture (arise) and eat (grow)" because in their present state, "the journey is too much for you". Allow yourself to grow around other believers and chase God ACTIVELY....ADDICT yourself to Him and the things of the Lord and things will change. "Seek ye first...." Bless you man.
