thing with talent shows like X-factor, like the Voice, or even Idol... is that the winner for at least a while, is stuck in a contract that makes them record a song chosen for them, that makes them wait to really start their career based on what the people chosen for them, tell them to do.
second place, third place and so on, are free from that. They're successful enough to have a start out fandom, get a manager, a record contract... but they are far more free to start their career than the winner is. As a result, when Måneskin was second place, they got to start preparing for a tour, to focus on their own original song that was already released, and already starting to rise the charts, on their career, while the winner, aka Lorenzo Licatra, was stuck with the song written not even specifically for him, that X-factor gave him, and the rules that came with winning X-factor, losing a bit of the momentum that he might have otherwise had, coming just out of X-factor. In a way, winning a talent show is often a hindrance, rather than an aid, because you have to deal with that, on top of being seen as 'that X-factor guy', which often keeps artists from getting taken serious.
Anyway, all that aside, the end of the song is actually not him begging the other person to come back to him, it's him telling the haters 'you WILL come back to me, YOU will come to me with folded knees' aka, you will beg to me for attention, you'll be the one lost, hurting yourselves, lost and alone on a boat...
It's essentially a challenge to the others, to those who want to tear him down, and telling them, you can do whatever you want to me, but in the end, you'll be the one in need of me, not the other way around.

And this is just a calmer performance, they were just as wild when they started out. Just watch their X-factor days in 2017, For example Damiano on a stripper pole at 18.
I saw a comment once that you know when Damiano clears his throat like that he is going to slay. This song will always be the one that totally got me hooked on Måneskin and wanting to learn their lyrics. This performance is one of my favorites along with Vent'anni and Amandoti from this set.

As an an American sitting here in Italy with an Italian sitting next to me, we have discussed in depth the lyrics to this song so hopefully I can translate the meanings for you, 5 years into learning Italian.
The song is to The Haters (which they had/have a lot). Sometimes he feels on the top of his game, but sometimes he feels like he is ridiculous and it is like a merry-go-round of fun, but he doesn't want to give up even when he is not having fun. But you can spit on him, slap him down, strip him to nothing, but he will not be afraid to try, you (the hater) will be the one living in the dark. Even if you talk shit about me, I will drink a toast to you. You may hate me, but you are still saying my name. But don't worry, when I am famous you will be crying and come running back to me praying for forgiveness 🙏

Well that an the ... phrasing is different.
I've been studying Italian for over two years now through duolingo, and I still trip on sentence structure in Italian. Esp. Since a lot of meaning can just just by changing structure, well that and there are different forms with different verb tenses and all that
@@liliaeth after 5 years I can still barely construct a comprehensive sentence. If i ever understand how to use "ne" or where to put the reflexive pronouns sarà un miracolo.

Hey! Well, Damiano CAN rap!!! There`s an old home video they made when they were teenagers. (Sorry, don`t know more.....I think it could be found in the internet under "Maneskin, before the fame". There are some videos). In one of them he is extremly rapping. It seemed he didn`t need breathe!
This is not that old. Its 2021, the album with that song came out then. Same time as the Eurovision win and I wanna be your slave etc.
