Great video. I just joined with Melton not too long ago. Everything is fine being with them now rn...brand new to flatbed and just trucking in general. I'll keep this company in mind down the line when its time to weigh my options after some decent months if experience.
I left P&S last week because I got put on cap pay on my dedicated account. Also couldn’t get into a lease due to the waiting list. I’m with PGT Trucking now currently in orientation. They are putting me in a 2024 Peterbuilt for a month and then I’m leasing
Congratulations on your new beginning. I also was with Melton about 8-9 months ago. Like you said in your video they are a company base outfit and I would like to be an owner operator a day. I took some time off for a couple of months and was driving a cement truck locally but now I’m ready to go back OTR. I’m glad I ran across your video. When you get a chance I would like to talk with you about what you’re doing and possibly coming aboard and getting in those 3 months and hopefully lease a truck.
Boyd Bros, was my first choice buy they dont have a pet policy. I heard great things about their company side and lease side. They dont have a trailer rental.
Listen they have an okay LP program because they have no balloon payment. But let me tell you, the ELD is super outdated, the attitude of the DMs, driver support, and the shop is horrible. They treat me like shit honestly. I got chastised for getting a slight injury. The pay is the only reason I stay. I’ve seen 800$-1800 a week after taxes. It depends on who your dm is and how you run, they have their favorites. I think it’s a good start to get your 1 year or 6 months. But I cannot imagine staying with them the way their attitude is. I don’t even know my DMs extension, and he never helps me.
I actually worked for melton back in 2021 when i first started trucking. thought i did a good job since i started out my career flatbedding. But honestly at 21 i was not prepared for what i was getting into. It was a great experience but i had to leave after 6 months to do work on some personal growth and try other things out. I've worked all that stuff out and kinda missing flatbed right now. currently working a local job where i drive and deliver groceries to market basket/whole foods at night. i unload trailer myself as well. But the pay just isn't exactly what i thought it would be either. Grossing about $1,100 every week but only taking home like $900ish which actually kinda sucks.
If you’re not happy doing what you are currently doing then leave. Life is too short and money isn’t going to solve the problem brother. Sounds like you’re missing the road
Congratulations on going lease this video was good information thank you keep them coming because I am right behind you I’m on the waiting list for March 13 in Birmingham at the P&S terminal

What i want in a company: 6 figures, and a personalized Freightliner Cascadia with the digital dash and the drivers lounge bunk option. Built in inverter, apu, the elite trim package. 👌 Flatbed gang. I dont want no pete, no kenworth, no intertrashional.
Yeah. Over here, you’re your own boss. You run how you want and when you want. We are not forced dispatched. So you choose the loads. It is the same for the company side.
Thanks for the reply 👍. I have 2 years OTR, 1 year hazmat tanker experience but I want to move on to flatbed and eventually do exactly what you're trying to do. Own my truck. I've been searching P&S and can't find any information on if they will hire with no flatbed experience. If they will train for a few weeks? Any help is appreciated thanks for the vid new sub here.
@@WillieWhale they do train, but I would recommend Melton for training because they will haul any and everything. It makes you real good at hauling the east stuff over here at P&S. I wish you the best of luck brother. If you have any other questions. I’m here for you
Haha. That’s funny. I’ve been getting stuck in storm after storm and trying to acclimate myself to the lease program. Videos will come soon my brother. Stay safe out there
