This movie is one of the greatest of all time, with the lead actor delivering a flawless performance. It's based on a true story and the ending is incredibly moving. It's one of the finest biographical films ever made, giving us an insight into the real-life events. 😍
What is so sad about Alan Turings life is that despite his brilliance; the countless lives he saved and the role he played in defeating the evil of the Nazi Regime; it’s always the fact he was gay arises not to mention he was chemically castrated as a means of treatment to being gay at that time in the world
Just imagine instead of the Sexualized, flashy parade, the more gay mathematicians! More mathematicians in general, but you get my point! The western Society and most of the world has made great improvement on human rights. Education has suffered immensely! Just imagine if social media didn’t exist and people sexuality and what they did in the bedroom still remained private!
He saved NO LIVES! He was head of a team of mathematicians that worked out the mathematics needed for engineers to design the bombes, which were built by technicians, the bombes ran the traffic, obtained a suggestion for the settings, which if the staff then obtained plain language they knew they had the information and it could be translated in yo English. Wrong settings no reading. My mother was involved in reading the traffic. My dad was involved with Colossus and the Lorenz Code which Turing knew sweet FA about!
They hacked enigma with 3 plates only so from brginning of the ww2. Germans very soon added 4th and 5th wheel and they were screwed so they were some sort of war heroes but not that important as hollywood says in this movie.
Sometimes movies about spies in World War II can be boring because we have to remember a lot of details. But that's not true for The Imitation Game, which is a movie about a smart guy named Alan Turing. The movie is exciting all the way through and I really liked it. Benedict Cumberbatch does a great job playing Turing, who is a bit weird but still likable. The movie also talks about things like being gay, which was not accepted back then, and how hard it can be to be really smart but different from other people. Turing also has a good friend who is a woman and they work well together. 🤠
1:40 I think it’s something like over 158 quintillion! The average person can’t fathom that number! But if you were to take something about the size of a strand of hair. Taking 158,000,000,000,000,000,000 strands of hair side-by-side, it would extend over 1.5 light years! The red dwarf star Gliese 436, in the Leo constellation is roughly 1.5 L away! In other words, it’s quite a big number
What people don't realise is that when Turing was on trial one word or hint from Churchill about his importance to the war effort could have meant no, or reduced punishment, but Winston couldn't be bothered. Wonderful people our leaders.
Germans were right. Enigma WAS unbreakable as not even having the machine would do it. you needed the starting position or a machine to go through millions if you could reduce the numbers to search. Reason you couldnt do it by hand is the brilliance, that the letter for say B kept changing all through the mesg so substitution or patterns wont work. Whats also amazing is with all that talent to break the code, no one but turing thought of making a machine to help break it?? You had complex gun sights and calculators integrated in planes and ground ground to calculate where you guns needed to point allowing for planes movement ect.
The even more important code was the Lorenz Cypher, used by Hitler to send messages to his submarine "Wolf Packs". The machine used to crack the Lorenz Cypher was called Colossus, and was designed by a Post Office engineer called Tommy Flowers.
This is a very interesting clip, but the AI narration is monotonous and the sound is unpleasant. Why can't you employ real people to give this narrative some sense of life?
THIS IS UNLISTENABLE. DON'T BOTHER WITH IT. One of the absolute, without a doubt, WORST computer/AI 'voice' on a vid that I've heard in many months! I made it through exactly 28 seconds before I stopped.
I suppose the reasoning behind the recaps is to dodge copywrited material I'm no fan of someone talking over an iconic movie but like i said, i understand why. If the choice between listening to someone talking over films or reading the book, i'd go for the book any day of the week but would prefer the movie in it's pure form.
Never saw this movie I would not be a beard for any gay man. That's a life they choose don't hide behind me just saying. Go be happy that is a messy lifestyle.

The movie should be recognized for showing the audience a fascinating story about an important person from our history.
And how they treated him like less than garbage for saving their lives.

@@Dr_Larken Yes, just imagine if there was no social media, so you couldn't spew your garbage on the internet. Sounds wonderful.

Alan is one of my all time heroes, his country failed him.
His country killed him
Don't forget to mention the Irishman who broke a vital code that the other people at enigma could not. His name was Richard Hayes.
This must be one of the best films I've ever seen

The part where John is a Soviet Spy is correct but he worked in another hut and didn't know where the solution was coming from.
At 2:20, you say it's 1951 ?
Very important men in history, I was born that year, Thank you. You did good. Thank you.
You got me at "War in London", AI needs an update.
A long time ago there was a war. I guess it’s time to stop teaching history.

Churchhill was probably too drunk to care anyway ...
I didn't believe that he was a Soviet spy

Thank you for sharing your opinion! Since we are not native English speakers, we find that this voice works better for us.
It's sad to see that this man stepped up and gave his all and then some for his country ,and in the end to be villa fied ,it is really sad !!!
Poor commentary.
Didn’t mention his suicide
As a reward (or was it revenge ?) Alan Turing got castrated a bit after the war .... LMAO !!
