Joel is a very nice man but frankly His messages are just " motivational " to me. I've been listening to his messages for some time now and I do believe he speaks to a lot of crowd out there who can reason with him. But personally I find no spiritual growth within myself listening to his sermon or reading his books. I've seen some of his interviews and it just gives me chills. Christ did come for the forgiveness of sin his message was clear, " go and sin no more". Too many preachers today address the circumstances, sugar coat it but don't bother to address the problem. They speak of acceptance but they forgot that only Christ can bring a change of heart in someone. Apostle Paul did not just encourage, he had a hard time rebuking and correcting many of the churches.. Today's world messages are too much trying to please the listener and a little pure message from God. Sometimes God's word is bitter but contains truth. These they neglect..

I believe there are gay going straight but I bet they all agree if they could choose, they’d rather have firmly position that told them the truth and help with zero tolerance but loving support so they didn’t have to go through that. Because when things like divorce of the sort happens to Christians, it affects not just them but people watching them. Then I got involved in a good Bible-based church. We aren't all at the same place in our journey to find "The Truth". Joel Osteen was at the beginning of my road and helped me to feel loved by God when I was convinced that I was unworthy. I'll always be grateful for that.

I went to see Joel in Columbus Ohio. He had to stop the worship because people were eating & drinking during worship,(thinking they were being entertained) he told them what we were doing. Long story short at the end he asked who wanted to receive Christ, about 20,000 stood up. He said he would pray for them, & sent them home? I thought if they didn't know what worship was, they might need a little bit more than someone who would pray & send them home empty-handed. Let them know what is the plan of Salvation, or something.

He may not come back while I'm alive, but in my heart of hearts, way down pass all of what I know and don't know, this is the one promise I would put my head down on the chopping block for. The plain truth is Joel Olsteen is a motivational speaker , might go on to say he’s a very good motivational speaker, but he uses the Christian religion as his prop or back drop for his stage, he preaches 100% prosperity gospel, That if you believe in God , you will be rewarded here & now, & all cloudy days are forever behind you... If you ever listen to him being pressed regarding his belief structure- he is extremely careful not to alienate anyone, especially if they might be making a large financial donation. I’ve heard many interviews of him, that would lead me to believe he is leading followers down a path of false doctrines , but one where the interview pressed on the fact that Jesus is the Son of God, & that he is the way , the truth & the Light! And further that No one comes to the Father- except through him- Jesus, the Son. And Joel Olsteen wouldn’t say that was true or the case, he agreed with the interviewer that there could be multiple paths to get to Heaven, Which flys directly into the face of the entire Gospel of Jesus! Most Osteen critics get their ammo from video clips, rumors and heresay. They don't analyze full messages, have never attended his church and certainly have a warped view of the 'prosperity gospel' and what actually goes on at Lakewood and what Joel teaches.
Thank you pastor for bringing up this publicly. My lessons from this are listed below. 1) I am a very recent christian. I have accepted Christ just 14 years back. One of my best friend clarified this particular doubt in me on the first year of christian life when i got confused after watching the movie the message. I pitty my favourite pastor joel, who does know this simple truth. Now holy sprit is confirming me that i should learn apologetic to grown in faith and be strong in lord as the philosophies in this word can confuse me. People perish due to lack of knowledge. 2) still Joel will be my favourite pastor because i always take his messages in correct sense and i can always relate it to bible and relate to jesus and sense holy sprit presence. 3) i don't agree with the second speaker in this message. Again we have to see who is taking it and how we relate it to us. I will receive it like this. "Yes lord. I thought I have been hiding and doing all these sins. I thought no one will know this. But today you are speaking to me through Joel and you have confirmed that you are still and not yet angry with me. Thank you for giving me a chance. Like I heard in today's message I will seek your forgiveness". This is called correct perspective. You may ask will the sinner really take this way? He can also take the other way and continue to sin isn't it? My answer for this is...telling the word and message and gospel is only your job. Rest all are holy sprit's job. 4) taking the message at right perspective is more important. I've listened to Ravi Zacharias for years, trying to make hide or hairs out of anything he was trying to convey. This man is one of the most powerless supposed Christian preachers I've ever listened to. The Lord Jesus Christ does not need to enter any; and I say again, any kind of competition with all other religions. The cross did not produce a religion; American evangelicalism produced that. I'm glad to say, that having a relationship with the creator of the universe, one that is vibrant and evolving on a daily basis; where you are experiencing his awesome power in your life, through his answering of your specific prayers and watching him do his sometimes, strange work is the greatest experience a believer can experience. He has blessed this poor man, who has had no education with a good paying job, because he opens doors that no man can shut; and closes doors that no man can open. But I could go on and on about my own power filled life, walking with the Lord and receiving from him, the many provisions promised in his word. Allyson, sadly true. Don't know about the US, but here in the UK, you will find churches flying the rainbow flag over them to let others know they've infiltrated and taken over that church. No surprise that the rainbow sign is misused and inverted in such a way in "churches". And of course it serves a dual purpose: it also effectively bans true Christians. I have a friend who told me of a pastor who was forced to resign from his church because he refused to say good was evil and evil good.

A true servant of God will not put down other people's ministry. Encouraging the people of God to build and stengthen their spiritual and daily lives like Pastor Joel Osteen has been doing is one kind of great ministries. To introduce Jesus as the Savior of lives and spread the gospel are also ministries. Let us see a bigger picture, not just one slot of ministry.
That's the Gospel (good news) - no matter what you have done, God IS NOT angry. The image created by modern western churches that God is sitting up somewhere ethereal and far apart from us with lightning bolts ready to throw at us the second we are imperfect is why so many walk away. The idea that we can somehow through our actions add to what Jesus accomplished is what confuses so many. The idea that the good people are over here, and they are only good because of their actions and all the rest can't be part of this special club is why so many don't even try.

Gail... with all due respect, you have been led astray by bad theology. Sin is not just the collection of sinful acts that we've committed in our lives. It is our very nature as humans since the fall of Adam. This is why the Bible describes the process of being saved as a death and rebirth (being "born again"). There is no redeemable part that lives within us. Apart from Christ, even our most righteous act is like a "filthy rag" in God's eyes. Sin is not something that can be simply extracted from us, leaving the "lovable" part of us behind. Our old nature or essence has to die entirely and be reborn as a new creature, taking on the righteousness of Christ. It is God's hatred of our nature that required the sacrifice of his son. He chose to love us "while we were yet sinners," but not because of some value he saw in us but as a gift of love toward his son, to offer us as a spotless bride for him. By downplaying his anger toward us, you downplay the enormity of his love. So, no.... it is not true that he loves the sinner but hates the sin. The truth is that he hates the very nature of who and what we were as sinners and yet, in his divine love and mercy, he also chose to love us.
McScott76 I disagree. God is not angry toward people. He hates sin. If he didn’t love us, he wouldn’t have sent Jesus to die for us. He promised not to send another flood because he loves us. He saved us from sin.

The fact that he loves us does not mean he can’t be angry at us. God’s love for us is a choice, not a feeling. The Greek word used is “agape,” which refers to unconditional love. In other words, whether angry or pleased with us, his love never ceases. You’re confusing the human emotion of love with God’s divine love. He is angry at sinners AND he loves them.
You are not wrong Gail :) God does love the sinner this isn't even debatable actually. If this was not the case then what implications can we draw in well-known verses like John 3:16? "For God so loved the world..." Is the world sinless? Or Perfect? Funnily enough, the objection to your comment actually does more to solidify your comment, I don't know why it was presented as an objection. God loves us even in our weakness, even in our failings, and he demonstrated that love for us through Jesus Christ our Saviour. Rest assured you are not wrong in your comment and you haven't been led astray by bad theology :) Even the most scholarly of theologians and apologists hold the view you've presented.
In the book of psalms the bible says God is angry with the wicked everyday. Wicked meaning someone who commits sin. Google the verse for more info. God bless

This is what I find so annoying: everyone has their gifts and talents; nobody has it all; yet we are still criticizing one another in our pompous superior tones in this 21st century, belittling opinions about where we differ when there are many things we have to be grateful for in one another about how God is able to nurture and encourage and inspire others to love and good works. Joel Osteen .. from what bits and pieces I've experienced .. has helped many see the present-tense truth and reality of God (who's very name is "Perpetual Present Tense" or "I Am") .. Jesus .. the kingdom of God. Ravi Zachariah has an amazing mind and a gift to teach affectively knowledge that has helped many recognize Jesus as deity as well as human, making it easier to dismiss mental skepticism for anyone who is interested in Jesus and his teachings. I have never heard Joel Osteen put down another believer to extenuate his own points. The old religious tactics of condemning others for "not being as RIGHT as us" mimics more the Pharisees than reflects the spirit and style of Jesus, and are just as odious and destructive as they ever were. Jesus was about being good .. loving (nurturing) one another, encouraging one another, helping one another, etc. .. and happened to be right, tho he wasn't certified "right enough" for the institutionally ordained authorities of the most accurate interpretations of scripture in his day.

There are mega churches who pour out a lot in the community & in missions and expand ministries, financially pour into other fruitful ministries, financially help families, build schools & universities. (I.e Gateway).

Joel Osteen ministry is all Jesus. I am from New Zealand, and did not have a relationship with Jesus did not know that I could. Joel ministry was the lamp that I needed at the time then I found Joyce Meyer and was still watching Joel but it did not make any difference other than I saw LOVE. That was a commandment that was given to us all is to Love and not to hold back the light he has given to each and everyone of us. 2 years later today, I am planted in a church, I am a P.A for my Church Pastors and an administrator. No one knew me 2 years ago, and I had not been in my church for more than 7 months and I am where I am because Jesus our Lord works in very mysterious ways that some how Joel Osteen spoke what he knew is good into my life. I am always grateful to our Heavenly Father for anyones ministry that is good. Do not mean to offend anyone, but it is different strokes for different folks at the end of the day.
People who sin do not need Jesus, they can go directly to God and change their ways and God will forget they sinned. The key is that they must change their ways, not keep doing the same sin over and over.
I believe what the pastor was trying to say was that God is NOT MAD at us because JESUS took all His wrath on Himself when He died for our sins our salvation on THE CROSS!! Denise... It is true that for those who have accepted God's free offer of salvation, "there is now therefore no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus" (Romans 8:1). However, saving faith and repentance is founded upon an understanding of the purpose of Christ's death and what made it a necessity. Romans 1 makes it very clear that God's righteous wrath is kindled against all humanity, and that we are all deserving of death for having rejected him. Later, Paul describes this death as the "wages" that are earned by our sin (Romans 6:23). Romans 3:10 tells us that there are "none righteous" -- no one is deserving of salvation. And so, it is this understanding of our complete inadequacy and hopeless condition that is foundational to the Gospel message. Apart from that understanding, what else would draw us to saving faith and repentance?
I agree with Bro. Zacharias on this. However, that just means we should pray for men like Joel Osteen rather than criticize him ONLY. Believe me, I have done enough of that in the past also, and it is needful sometimes to help people see what is false. However, that alone doesn't help Joel, and if we truly love him as a Christian brother...if we are growing in the love of God, as our Lord Jesus told us to...then we will want to pray more for him (and people like him)...and do it regularly, and not just talk about it...praying for God to open their eyes to the truth before it is too late. Some of you may not realize this, but they need our prayers, and maybe it will be your prayers that will make the turn in their lives. Do we really love...or are "some" of us just jealous that men like him have a large ministry and we don't, so we want them to fail. Let us grow in love more than anything else! Amen?
When there is a void in the mainstream groups then other groups come along to fill that void and provide for that need. The problem is they then focus almost exclusively on that need and leave other necessary things behind - sometimes even essential things. Mainstream became legalistic so what happened? - a ministry focusing on Grace came along and many flocked to it. Mainstream became harsh, unloving and ignored the needs of people - so what happened? - a ministry came along that focused on only positive things and self help - but leaves so much out. - many flock to it. This should be a wake up call to mainstream - to provide a more balanced ministry and get back to the first love of the Church. Years ago there was a popular song about this - I'm getting back to the heart of worship.
I'm confused, if Romans 2:4 Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance? Then why now is it threats of His wrath or His anger with us that is supposed to lead to repentance? Isn't the first attribute of LOVE(God is) is patience, when does His anger and wrath kick in? If God so loved the world that He sent His only Son to die for our sins, where does it say He's angry with sinners? Isn't it because of our love for Him and what He did for us that we run from sin that could damage our relationship with Him? That in the light of His love our sin appears as filthy rags and we throw them off to remain in relationship with Him, or are we to be drawn to a loving God with threats or fear? If your earthly father instilled fear in you would you run to him for help or comfort, or anything? I know a God of Love, that's why I run from sin and seek to remove anything that could damage my relationship with the Loving Father. I'm sorry I don't fear Him, I hold Him in high reverence for He alone is Holy. Fear of the Lord is not fear as in scared, but awe. Jesus didn't example a fear of God, but a love a reverence, that's what attracted people to Him, and isn't Jesus our example of how to live our own lives? If you scare and threaten someone into the Kingdom, then how do you ever tell them of a loving God?

The problem is most pastors do not know how strict the Judgment of God is. If your pastor doesn't preach holiness and how to live a holy life, (Hebrews 12:14) which is the requirement for entering Heaven, know that he is a candidate of Hell as we speak. God has sent warnings to these prosperity preachers. These three scriptures describes what awaits prosperity/motivational preachers who refuse to preach against sin and warn people about Hell...James 3:1; Matthew 25:30, and Matthew 7:21-23. Again, the Judgment of God is VERY strict (especially for pastors/preachers)...

Hi Ravi Zacharias this is Woody and Bonnie Woodruff we were together in the 70s at the CMA Church in Pensacola Florida it is so wonderful to see that God is using you down through the years in the universities worldwide and behind the pulpit God's blessing to you I always tell my friends to look you up and I tell the Muslims that come into my restaurant have you heard Ravi Zacharias on RUclips and it'll say he's a Christian isn't he and one of them said to me I think I'm going to listen to him why he turned to be a Christian I said you should and follow his example God will lead you in all the right Direction's the Creator God I said. Now Woody and our son is in heaven and God is using me in so many different ways I plan to contact somebody that believes we should have all come together in a big Stadium like at the Florida University and I want them to consider you as a speaker and that way the university kids might come to it too because we might be in the stadium of the University holding the meeting I have a young Pastor that has that kind of vision and he asked me to work with him to see that it comes together until I'm praying that as I contact him this year that we will see this happen and see if we can have you at that meeting we are praying to that end God bless you

Joel's talk is philosophical. That is earthy. The make you feel good gospel he developed. Christianity is more than that. It is a spiritual walk that many do not utilize and God intended for us to be guided by Him not philosophers

Just out of curiosity, if anyone cares to give me some feedback on this it is most welcome - and it may have already been addressed, but I haven't read the total content of comments: is this accountability of the Holy Spirit, where we are to judge the fruit of a believer in order to ascertain their maturity? Or is this gossip, as in, "having nothing to do with the cause, or effect of any matter mentioned"? Where should we draw the line about pointing out false teachers whom we call "fellow Christians"? Or is that the point...that they are indirectly calling him out, and saying without actually saying so, that he is not a true Lover of Christ Jesus?

I have found Joel Osteen to be of incredible help to me over the years when I went through the dark night of the soul. Joel is preaching the good news that Christ preached. Jesus never preached the cross or I should say the future of the cross when he was teaching the good news! And I find among Christians that there are many different versions of the cross! We are not here to suffer per-say. The world suffers anyway - we are here to pick up our cross and "overcome the suffering" and show the way to the world with Christ. To which Joel Osteen is teaching. I know Yeshua died for our sins but He Overcame Sin for us and we are to follow. Yeshua did not die to protect us from an Angry God this is mis information. Jesus protected us from the penalty of the Law of God - not some angry God who vented his anger out on his one and only Son!

Joel is a very nice man but frankly His messages are just " motivational " to me. I've been listening to his messages for some time now and I do believe he speaks to a lot of crowd out there who can reason with him. But personally I find no spiritual growth within myself listening to his sermon or reading his books. I've seen some of his interviews and it just gives me chills. Christ did come for the forgiveness of sin his message was clear, " go and sin no more". Too many preachers today address the circumstances, sugar coat it but don't bother to address the problem. They speak of acceptance but they forgot that only Christ can bring a change of heart in someone. Apostle Paul did not just encourage, he had a hard time rebuking and correcting many of the churches.. Today's world messages are too much trying to please the listener and a little pure message from God. Sometimes God's word is bitter but contains truth. These they neglect..

Because when things like divorce of the sort happens to Christians, it affects not just them but people watching them. Their hearts hurt because the faith they believe by seeing something happens that doesn’t go with the Bible. They get disappointed if not at God then at life, it’s depressing. Joel Osteen recommends that you "get involved with a good Bible-based church" at the end of his program. I watched his program, read his books, listened to his CDs. Then I got involved in a good Bible-based church. We aren't all at the same place in our journey to find "The Truth". Joel Osteen was at the beginning of my road and helped me to feel loved by God when I was convinced that I was unworthy. I'll always be grateful for that.

I went to see Joel in Columbus Ohio. He had to stop the worship because people were eating & drinking during worship,(thinking they were being entertained) he told them what we were doing. Long story short at the end he asked who wanted to receive Christ, about 20,000 stood up. He said he would pray for them, & sent them home? I thought if they didn't know what worship was, they might need a little bit more than someone who would pray & send them home empty-handed. Let them know what is the plan of Salvation, or something.

1) I am a very recent christian. I have accepted Christ just 14 years back. One of my best friend clarified this particular doubt in me on the first year of christian life when i got confused after watching the movie the message. I pitty my favourite pastor joel, who does know this simple truth. Now holy sprit is confirming me that i should learn apologetic to grown in faith and be strong in lord as the philosophies in this word can confuse me. People perish due to lack of knowledge.
2) still Joel will be my favourite pastor because i always take his messages in correct sense and i can always relate it to bible and relate to jesus and sense holy sprit presence.
3) i don't agree with the second speaker in this message. Again we have to see who is taking it and how we relate it to us. I will receive it like this. "Yes lord. I thought I have been hiding and doing all these sins. I thought no one will know this. But today you are speaking to me through Joel and you have confirmed that you are still and not yet angry with me. Thank you for giving me a chance. Like I heard in today's message I will seek your forgiveness". This is called correct perspective. You may ask will the sinner really take this way? He can also take the other way and continue to sin isn't it? My answer for this is...telling the word and message and gospel is only your job. Rest all are holy sprit's job.
4) taking the message at right perspective is more important. This is what Pharisees did in Jesus times and repeatedly they were missing the essential points.

I've listened to Ravi Zacharias for years, trying to make hide or hairs out of anything he was trying to convey. This man is one of the most powerless supposed Christian preachers I've ever listened to. The Lord Jesus Christ does not need to enter any; and I say again, any kind of competition with all other religions. The cross did not produce a religion; American evangelicalism produced that. I'm glad to say, that having a relationship with the creator of the universe, one that is vibrant and evolving on a daily basis; where you are experiencing his awesome power in your life, through his answering of your specific prayers and watching him do his sometimes, strange work is the greatest experience a believer can experience. He has blessed this poor man, who has had no education with a good paying job, because he opens doors that no man can shut; and closes doors that no man can open. But I could go on and on about my own power filled life, walking with the Lord and receiving from him, the many provisions promised in his word. If you notice eternity is not much spoken of. We are to focus solely on this life and on ourselves We are to make ourselves little gods, so to speak. We positively affirm something, the universal law says we will get it. It very often offers false hope and to people who will never be able to obtain the riches it promises.

That's the Gospel (good news) - no matter what you have done, God IS NOT angry. The image created by modern western churches that God is sitting up somewhere ethereal and far apart from us with lightning bolts ready to throw at us the second we are imperfect is why so many walk away. The idea that we can somehow through our actions add to what Jesus accomplished is what confuses so many. The idea that the good people are over here, and they are only good because of their actions and all the rest can't be part of this special club is why so many don't even try.

Gail... with all due respect, you have been led astray by bad theology. Sin is not just the collection of sinful acts that we've committed in our lives. It is our very nature as humans since the fall of Adam. This is why the Bible describes the process of being saved as a death and rebirth (being "born again"). There is no redeemable part that lives within us. Apart from Christ, even our most righteous act is like a "filthy rag" in God's eyes. Sin is not something that can be simply extracted from us, leaving the "lovable" part of us behind. Our old nature or essence has to die entirely and be reborn as a new creature, taking on the righteousness of Christ. It is God's hatred of our nature that required the sacrifice of his son. He chose to love us "while we were yet sinners," but not because of some value he saw in us but as a gift of love toward his son, to offer us as a spotless bride for him. By downplaying his anger toward us, you downplay the enormity of his love. So, no.... it is not true that he loves the sinner but hates the sin. The truth is that he hates the very nature of who and what we were as sinners and yet, in his divine love and mercy, he also chose to love us.

The fact that he loves us does not mean he can’t be angry at us. God’s love for us is a choice, not a feeling. The Greek word used is “agape,” which refers to unconditional love. In other words, whether angry or pleased with us, his love never ceases. You’re confusing the human emotion of love with God’s divine love. He is angry at sinners AND he loves them.
You are not wrong Gail :) God does love the sinner this isn't even debatable actually. If this was not the case then what implications can we draw in well-known verses like John 3:16? "For God so loved the world..." Is the world sinless? Or Perfect? Funnily enough, the objection to your comment actually does more to solidify your comment, I don't know why it was presented as an objection. God loves us even in our weakness, even in our failings, and he demonstrated that love for us through Jesus Christ our Saviour. Rest assured you are not wrong in your comment and you haven't been led astray by bad theology :) Even the most scholarly of theologians and apologists hold the view you've presented.

This is what I find so annoying: everyone has their gifts and talents; nobody has it all; yet we are still criticizing one another in our pompous superior tones in this 21st century, belittling opinions about where we differ when there are many things we have to be grateful for in one another about how God is able to nurture and encourage and inspire others to love and good works.
We aren't saved by our doctrines/opinions of who/what is "righter" than something/someone else.
Joel Osteen .. from what bits and pieces I've experienced .. has helped many see the present-tense truth and reality of God (who's very name is "Perpetual Present Tense" or "I Am") .. Jesus .. the kingdom of God.
Ravi Zachariah has an amazing mind and a gift to teach affectively knowledge that has helped many recognize Jesus as deity as well as human, making it easier to dismiss mental skepticism for anyone who is interested in Jesus and his teachings.
I have never heard Joel Osteen put down another believer to extenuate his own points.
The old religious tactics of condemning others for "not being as RIGHT as us" mimics more the Pharisees than reflects the spirit and style of Jesus, and are just as odious and destructive as they ever were. Jesus was about being good .. loving (nurturing) one another, encouraging one another, helping one another, etc. .. and happened to be right, tho he wasn't certified "right enough" for the institutionally ordained authorities of the most accurate interpretations of scripture in his day.

Now mega churches in worldwide making money in the name of Jesus and preachers want the congregation to be happy with the preacher philosophy because the offering can wash the sin .
John mark not all mega churches. Some are mega because the teaching is helping lives, enriching hearts and people are growing and choose to go there. There are mega churches who pour out a lot in the community & in missions and expand ministries, financially pour into other fruitful ministries, financially help families, build schools & universities. (I.e Gateway).
Slowly and steadily, Christianity is being paganized and paganism is being christianized. That is exactly what the Catholic church is all about. Osteen, Hinn, Hagee, Dollar, Jakes, Oyakhilome, Joshua, Copeland, Adeboye, etc, etc are abandoning the Cross and Tomb messages of Jesus, His Gospel, to spread their deluded man-made philosophies, to the detriment of souls going into perdition. Let God be true and all men liars!

Joel Osteen ministry is all Jesus. I am from New Zealand, and did not have a relationship with Jesus did not know that I could. Joel ministry was the lamp that I needed at the time then I found Joyce Meyer and was still watching Joel but it did not make any difference other than I saw LOVE. That was a commandment that was given to us all is to Love and not to hold back the light he has given to each and everyone of us. 2 years later today, I am planted in a church, I am a P.A for my Church Pastors and an administrator. No one knew me 2 years ago, and I had not been in my church for more than 7 months and I am where I am because Jesus our Lord works in very mysterious ways that some how Joel Osteen spoke what he knew is good into my life. I am always grateful to our Heavenly Father for anyones ministry that is good. Do not mean to offend anyone, but it is different strokes for different folks at the end of the day.
That's why Jesus says "My people will parish for the lack of knowledge "
People who sin do not need Jesus, they can go directly to God and change their ways and God will forget they sinned. The key is that they must change their ways, not keep doing the same sin over and over.

I believe what the pastor was trying to say was that God is NOT MAD at us because JESUS took all His wrath on Himself when He died for our sins our salvation on THE CROSS!! He PAID THE PENALTY for our sins!! He became the SACRIFICE for Gods wrath..we have to repent and ACCEPT JESUS to come into RIGHT RELATIONSHIP with the Father!!
Denise... It is true that for those who have accepted God's free offer of salvation, "there is now therefore no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus" (Romans 8:1). However, saving faith and repentance is founded upon an understanding of the purpose of Christ's death and what made it a necessity. Romans 1 makes it very clear that God's righteous wrath is kindled against all humanity, and that we are all deserving of death for having rejected him. Later, Paul describes this death as the "wages" that are earned by our sin (Romans 6:23). Romans 3:10 tells us that there are "none righteous" -- no one is deserving of salvation. And so, it is this understanding of our complete inadequacy and hopeless condition that is foundational to the Gospel message. Apart from that understanding, what else would draw us to saving faith and repentance?

I agree with Bro. Zacharias on this. However, that just means we should pray for men like Joel Osteen rather than criticize him ONLY. Believe me, I have done enough of that in the past also, and it is needful sometimes to help people see what is false. However, that alone doesn't help Joel, and if we truly love him as a Christian brother...if we are growing in the love of God, as our Lord Jesus told us to...then we will want to pray more for him (and people like him)...and do it regularly, and not just talk about it...praying for God to open their eyes to the truth before it is too late. Some of you may not realize this, but they need our prayers, and maybe it will be your prayers that will make the turn in their lives. Do we really love...or are "some" of us just jealous that men like him have a large ministry and we don't, so we want them to fail. Let us grow in love more than anything else! Amen?
When there is a void in the mainstream groups then other groups come along to fill that void and provide for that need. The problem is they then focus almost exclusively on that need and leave other necessary things behind - sometimes even essential things.
Mainstream became legalistic so what happened? - a ministry focusing on Grace came along and many flocked to it.
Mainstream became harsh, unloving and ignored the needs of people - so what happened? - a ministry came along that focused on only positive things and self help - but leaves so much out. - many flock to it.
This should be a wake up call to mainstream - to provide a more balanced ministry and get back to the first love of the Church.

I'm confused, if Romans 2:4 Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance? Then why now is it threats of His wrath or His anger with us that is supposed to lead to repentance? Isn't the first attribute of LOVE(God is) is patience, when does His anger and wrath kick in? If God so loved the world that He sent His only Son to die for our sins, where does it say He's angry with sinners? Isn't it because of our love for Him and what He did for us that we run from sin that could damage our relationship with Him? That in the light of His love our sin appears as filthy rags and we throw them off to remain in relationship with Him, or are we to be drawn to a loving God with threats or fear? If your earthly father instilled fear in you would you run to him for help or comfort, or anything? I know a God of Love, that's why I run from sin and seek to remove anything that could damage my relationship with the Loving Father. I'm sorry I don't fear Him, I hold Him in high reverence for He alone is Holy. Fear of the Lord is not fear as in scared, but awe. Jesus didn't example a fear of God, but a love a reverence, that's what attracted people to Him, and isn't Jesus our example of how to live our own lives? If you scare and threaten someone into the Kingdom, then how do you ever tell them of a loving God?
The Muslims have shown us up because we do not know what we believe. They too do not know what they believe. I know Muslim folks who have NO IDEA what is in their Koran. They have no clue about Islamic intentions, according to their scriptures.
There are genuine Christians who have asked God for discernment, and there are those who follow people like Joel Osteen, who just makes everybody feel good! He fails all those listeners, because he does NOT preach the full Gospel of repentance and the Salvation of Jesus. He is one evil foolish person, and those who want their ears tickled follow him by the tens of thousands. Joyce Meyer is another one, she is a Psychology based preacher who adds Jesus into her philosophy to make it more palatable to people.

The problem is most pastors do not know how strict the Judgment of God is. If your pastor doesn't preach holiness and how to live a holy life, (Hebrews 12:14) which is the requirement for entering Heaven, know that he is a candidate of Hell as we speak. God has sent warnings to these prosperity preachers. These three scriptures describes what awaits prosperity/motivational preachers who refuse to preach against sin and warn people about Hell...James 3:1; Matthew 25:30, and Matthew 7:21-23. Again, the Judgment of God is VERY strict (especially for pastors/preachers)...
I hear Joel preaching about being faithful to God and suffering when things are not going your way all the time
In fact virtually every one of his sermons talks about that as its main point

Hi Ravi Zacharias this is Woody and Bonnie Woodruff we were together in the 70s at the CMA Church in Pensacola Florida it is so wonderful to see that God is using you down through the years in the universities worldwide and behind the pulpit God's blessing to you I always tell my friends to look you up and I tell the Muslims that come into my restaurant have you heard Ravi Zacharias on RUclips and it'll say he's a Christian isn't he and one of them said to me I think I'm going to listen to him why he turned to be a Christian I said you should and follow his example God will lead you in all the right Direction's the Creator God I said. Now Woody and our son is in heaven and God is using me in so many different ways I plan to contact somebody that believes we should have all come together in a big Stadium like at the Florida University and I want them to consider you as a speaker and that way the university kids might come to it too because we might be in the stadium of the University holding the meeting I have a young Pastor that has that kind of vision and he asked me to work with him to see that it comes together until I'm praying that as I contact him this year that we will see this happen and see if we can have you at that meeting we are praying to that end God bless you

Joel's talk is philosophical. That is earthy. The make you feel good gospel he developed. Christianity is more than that. It is a spiritual walk that many do not utilize and God intended for us to be guided by Him not philosophers
My favorite teacher in the body of Christ made that statement God is not angry at you' . His name is Andrew Wommack and I agree with him. That phrase taken out of context to stand alone would be misinterpreted. He needs to watch the entire teaching.
If U listen 2 Osteen he was never called to Preach. He simply chose to speak at the request of his ailing Father. I loved his Pops,he Preached the true Gospel message!!! The Son is a good motivational Speaker at best.
Jesus commands us to walk in the way He has shown us and not criticize or impede others whom work in His Name. He expressed in the Bible to leave them to Him when the Apostles asked Him about those that were working separately but in His Name.
These man may want to study the parable of the prodigal son. The father was never angry with his long lost son. He loved him passionately and compassionately.

Just out of curiosity, if anyone cares to give me some feedback on this it is most welcome - and it may have already been addressed, but I haven't read the total content of comments: is this accountability of the Holy Spirit, where we are to judge the fruit of a believer in order to ascertain their maturity? Or is this gossip, as in, "having nothing to do with the cause, or effect of any matter mentioned"? Where should we draw the line about pointing out false teachers whom we call "fellow Christians"? Or is that the point...that they are indirectly calling him out, and saying without actually saying so, that he is not a true Lover of Christ Jesus?

I have found Joel Osteen to be of incredible help to me over the years when I went through the dark night of the soul. Joel is preaching the good news that Christ preached. Jesus never preached the cross or I should say the future of the cross when he was teaching the good news!
And I find among Christians that there are many different versions of the cross!
We are not here to suffer per-say. The world suffers anyway - we are here to pick up our cross and "overcome the suffering" and show the way to the world with Christ. To which Joel Osteen is teaching. I know Yeshua died for our sins but He Overcame Sin for us and we are to follow. Yeshua did not die to protect us from an Angry God this is mis information. Jesus protected us from the penalty of the Law of God - not some angry God who vented his anger out on his one and only Son!
