I was confirmed into the Catholic Church this past Easter Vigil. I owe no small debt of thanks and gratitude to your work, Bishop. Thank you for all you do!
Congratulations I was also confirmed, it's kinda tough living in the world with all the worldly happenings and funkery going on , I wish people could feel what we feel, the world would be a better place , let's lead by example and if they ask fill them in on the mystery of faith.
At 60 years old I finally understand that story. Tomorrow at mass I will feel like a genius! Then I will rebuke myself and read humility of heart again. Thanks Bishop!!!
I'm 75, never have I heard a more reasonable explanation as to why Jesus vanished after the concercration. His work was finished with these two followers, it was time for them to get to work. Back to the 11 Apostles, they went to spread God's word. Perfect❤
I too am on the road to Emmaus which seems for most people, including my friends & family, that it is marked with erroneous one way sign. With the throng of people behind me, I fear making a U-turn and having to navigate against this mob of people. Now my GPS, or the Word on Fire Ministry with the voice of Bishop Barron has directed me to look ahead to the upcoming intersection with the Road to Damascus where I will be able to, without fear, turn around to return to the Sacred City. By God's Grace may it be so!🙏
BB, your words always stun and strike fear and awe in me. As a cradle Roman Catholic, the church sadly didn't teach well in my earlier years, but your reaching out through media, has taught me the deep riches of our tradition, the beauty of Scripture, but most of all, Truth, Beauty and Goodness.. real love in action. God bless you and keep you always, for Our Blessed Lord's purpose and God's Will. Amen 🙏🏻❤️
The only way I know how is to pray/talk with him every morning. Like those 2 in Luke’s gospel. Then I go to mass and receive his Grace/help for directions.
33 year old, I think we should stay optimistic. Ive read church attendance is higher than even before the pre pandemic levels. Younger people going and applying to be priests etc. Went on a 7 mile hike with my friend who was irreligious and from a lutheran background asking me about catholic church and genuinely interested
I've been walking away from Jerusalem for a while now and for some reason I just got this feeling that Jesus wanted to walk with me even despite everything that has been going on. Immediately I began to liken it to the disciples on the road to Emmaus. And then this video pops up and explains the meaning of that story in a new way that is so clear and practical to understand. Crazy how God works sometimes. One day this week I had a calm, peaceful day where I set the intention and asked Jesus to walk with me whatever that meant that day. The next day I didn't for some reason and the storm and darkness returned. I didn't understand how one day could be so promising and the next day so disheartening. And then I heard a voice say, 'you didn't ask me to walk with you today.' It's enlightening to understand that so much of the spiritual life is captured on the road to Emmaus.
My eyes are in tears while listening to the sermon. Profound explanation how merciful Jesus is - accompanying, walking along, listening to, no judging, but in a decisive moment giving a guide to the right direction. Thanks a lot Bishop Baron.
I love the way you explain the scriptures Bishop Barron. I feel the quickening in my spirit as if Jesus is talking to me directly. May God continue to speak through you in this profound manner and bring many souls back to Christ and may they evangelise too of the great gift of God to us!
"And it happened that, while he was with them at table, he took bread, said the blessing, broke it and gave it to them." This stirs the soul Bishop, dazzling. Thank you.
Ah the Eucharist, the beauty of Holy Mass, prayer and Holy Mass feed my soul, my heart my whole self! I feel so blessed to have been brought into the Holy Catholic Church, the universal church of the one true God, who made all the Heavens and the earth and all of creation. Going to Holy Mass this morning at Our Lady and St Cuthbert RC church, a small church in a small town called Berwick-upon-Tweed, near the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, in the ancient county of Northumberland, on a tiny island nation called the UK, with a full and bursting heart, that WOF and BB exist in our world today. Thank you WOF and BB 🙏🏻
A gentle reminder that even when walking the wrong way Jesus will be by my side and guide me through anything I encounter. I have trust in my savior and I am grateful for this reminder that I will always have someone by my side. He walks beside us everyday and we need to realize that we are his eyes, hands, ears and feet. Also a wonderful message that even when going the wrong way, god will guide you on the right path eventually. God has a plan, and we should all trust his guidance. God will light up the path and will reveal where we should be at at the right time. Patience is key. I love the overall message and the hope it provides. Very grateful for this as it's meaningful to what I am going through. Thanks for the wonderful message as always!
Amazing homily Bishop Barron! Short, instructive, and to the point. Jesus always is ready to “accompany us” when we are headed in the wrong direction! He speaks to us in our current circumstances. His Word informs and guides us, leading us on the path of conversion. After his Word inspires our thoughts with right thinking, he feeds us with the Eucharist, which strengthens and prepares us for the mission ahead: evangelization 🙏
Thank you Bishop Barron for this Third Sunday of Easter Sermon about the encounter with our risen Lord Jesus and the two disciples walking on the road to Emmaus instead of walking the way to Jerusalem, where the first Church began: with the eleven Apostles! Very well said and very well explained Bishop, even to us devoted Catholics!!! Yes I will take your suggestion and read Luke 24! And I will let the Scripture passage soak my soil deeply, in order to bear fruit!!! May the Lord bless you abundantly Bishop Barron and thank you once again!!!
It is no coincidence that just this morning I was finishing my reading of… Jesus and the Jewish roots of the Eucharist. Unlocking secrets if the last super. By Brant Pitre. (Incredible read) and what reference was made ? You guessed it The road to Emmaus!!!! Happy Sunday friends. Thank you Bishop Barron.
A "light silent sound" ( Kings 19;12) from the Bishop. Evangelizing imitates God's gift of grace ... "move into someone's world, even if they're walking the wrong way"
“He might come in your guise; he might come because you walk with somebody” Bishop Barron’s Evangelisation 101! Brilliant. The cartoon analogy for seeing the pattern, not gathering more and more data was excellent, too. Thank you Bishop 🙏 ☺️.
Thanks a lot Bishop Baron. You make my heart burn again within me. I would like to be a strong missionary here in Rwanda. I pray for them all. May God enkindle their hearts with God's love. Praying for you as you may continue to spread the Good News all over the world.
Hello Bishop Baron from NSW Australia been listening to your sermons and talks for nearly 10 years I am a cradle Catholic who appreciates your Theological and Historical vision. Like you I am Still teaching.
Bishop Barron, you are an incredible gift to our faith. Thank you for sharing your insights on a variety of social media, and like Christ, meeting people where they are - even when the are walking along the wrong path. Love your insights of accompanient, teaching, and returning to the Church to receive identity and mission. Also, how the Emmaues story is a parable for Mass - Scripture and Eucharist. May God continue to bless you and your works.
Wow Bishop, I've listened to this reading a lot of times, but at no time has it been explained so clearly! As I wander the wrong way, I pray for all those who have held my hand and pulled me in the right direction, God bless you all🙏
We are the ones left to carry the wicker baskets of fragments of the loaves and fishes to the world. Christ vanished after he finished feeding the multitude leaving the Apostles with the baskets. We are they.
Your words are resonating with me, and touching my heart. I have been attending Mass all my life, and now you have made it even better. Thank you so much!
"It's not as though we have to perform adequately to get God to love us ... Rather, even when we're walking the wrong way, Jesus comes and walks with us." *- Bishop Robert Barron*
Dearest Bishop Robert Barron, Good Afternoon! Thank you for the Sunday sermon today. I have been walking the wrong way for a long time, I believed that I could eliminate negativity from my life. But every day does not have to be a happy day, especially when I push the boundaries of my comfort zone, I tend to get anxious, afraid, and worried. But after a while the discomfort becomes comfortable. It becomes familiar. What changed? My thinking. When I let anxious thoughts pass, eventually my thinking returns to normal. I’ve realized that to be fulfilled in life, I have to grow and challenge myself. To do that, I need to step outside my comfort zone. I don’t have to pour more gasoline on the fire. All I can do is follow my heart and be aware of my thinking and my actions That’s it. I’ll have scary thoughts, but that’s okay. I can still take one tiny step forward. Life is sometimes difficult. The problem isn’t the difficulty, but how I relate to it. If I think "it shouldn’t be there", I suffer. Again, it comes down to my thinking. Life is as it is; my thinking creates my experience of life. When I get caught up in thinking that the future will save me, I want to take big leaps. I want to hurry to my goal. Yet this behavior makes reaching my goal less likely. It introduces sloppiness into my work. It produces an aroma of selfishness. But, if I let things take their time, and if I let those thoughts pass, there’s a sense of peace. I can have wonderful relationships, do work I love, and have life go swimmingly. As I write this, I’m not in a hurry. I sense the wanting to finish, but I witness it. I don’t get involved. Then I return my focus to writing and letting the words flow on paper just like music and my soul smiles as well as my heart nods. My breath deepens. This is it! Life is beautiful! Bishop, life is tough. I pray for all leaders of the church, governments, and the United Nations to surrender to God to be their wisdom and authority in all decisions to lead humanity toward redemption and salvation. Thank you for praying for my family. God bless you all. Jesus, I trust in You! Jesus, I trust in You! Jesus, I trust in You! Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us! Warm Regards, Cecilia Dregers and family(President and Governors🫂⛽ thank you). Wilbur Sacred Parishioner(Bishop Thomas Daly and Father Rory Pitstick).
Cecila ....It is a great comfort when Pope Gregory the Great said " All holy desires grow by delay and if they fade through time they were never holy desires " St Augustine also said that the life of a good Christian consists of nothing else but " Holy Desires "
An amazing interpretation and insight into this chapter of Luke. I feel like I've come across this situation more than a few times in my life, not realizing how far I had strayed away until I turned around and saw where I had come from. When i feel too tired or frustrated or angry and look at an icon of Christ and say "not right now", something will happen that makes me stop and listen to the words "yes, now. And always" coming from deep inside of me. Then I see the distance travelled, and find the strengh to turn back. Thank you, Your Excellency, for reminding me of this.
That is the greatest examplei have ever heard. I guess we never heard THE WRONG WAY. WELL LOVE MADE IT SO THAT JESUS JOINED THEM TO GET THE RIGHT WAY. GREAT HOMILY BISHOP BARRON YOU ARE SUCH A HAPPY HELP.
I learned something new today! On the road to Emmaus, the 2 disciples were going the WRONG WAY. I had always taken this to be a foreshadowing of the disciples going out 2 by 2 to spread the Good News. Perhaps it is, but I needed to understand that first Christ needed to teach them the truth. Christ came to fulfill all the prophesies made about him in the OT. These 2 Disciples needed to learn this lesson BEFORE going to Emmaus. So upon receiving this message, they turn back toward Jerusalem, the City of God. A conversion within a conversion.
This is awesome! Liturgy of the Word , then the Eucharist and then go forth! It’s so true to have the data and not see the pattern or meaning. Thank you so much Bishop.
“The return of the unclean spirit “ the unclean spirit has gone out of a person,it wanders through waterless regions, looking for a resting place, but it finds none.
Thank you Bishop for helping me on my journey. Too often I have been walking the wrong way but Jesus is always there to turn me around. Considering converting to Catholicism so your messages are a great comfort.
Dear Bishop Barron, You were in today's homily personal, profound, powerful, and prophetic. Emmaus is an escapism. As disciples, we have got to return to Jerusalem: that is where Jesus is!
I love this Gospel, Jesus comes to us in our need! Amen. Lastly, we are to find Jesus in the breaking of the bread. Gospel is very much a message to us today. Keep hope and seek sacramental grace especially the Eucharist
This is beautiful, it's heartfelt ,I need this homily ,I believe and would love to tell the whole world and will share with my family ,thank you Bishop Barron and God bless you ❤
Bishcop Barron... thank you! Just like The Lord let the original Apostoles see... so God and the Christ thru you have let us see. Simple as it gets... share the WORD (the TRUTH in its essence and correlated to the modern dynamics/topics based on the Light of the Sacred Scripture) and break the BREAD (meals at home) and then let the Holy Spirit take off in you and others. Listen! As the seed is sowed and just like the Gardener is always watching and tending... so most we in helping to realign the lost and the confused ones to come back and join it all (the Church) on our journey to Heaven. Because, a "los Cielos es para donde todos vamos." THANK YOU for such an invigorating sweet reminder of our mission as stewards/protectors/beneficiaries of the vision/tradition/revelation/pattern of Christ. God bless!
There is indeed something power in God's grace that He would come alongside us even when we're headed away from Him--or in the words of this homily, from Jerusalem. There is something to be said for how good sermons give us answers we didn't even know we're seeking. And truly we're in need of something higher when we have all the information but don't understand the conclusions it's supposed to indicate. And how powerful an idea that Jesus vanishes into our mission. It's amazing how we experience the totality of this story each time we attend Mass. God has gifted a church with a wonderful person like BIshop Barron, who, in his office, has the fullness of the priesthood, to accompany us as God's agent to help us understand this Scripture just as He does each week.
Bishop Barron, I experienced an aha moment from this specific sermon. I am thankful to God, for your wisdom & the gift of explanation - that which is, clear sighting of the living word. I see him” through your words. Thankful ❤
Yes, Jesus comes to you! He comes to save you. He came to me when I absolutely needed Him the most, and now, here I am back with my Catholic brothers and sisters. Bishop, I very much appreciate your recognition of great Protestant authors as well. We just lost one last week who is home with his Heavenly Father, Dr. Charles Stanley. I’ve learned much from him in my walk with the Lord. Blessings to you!
Wonderful Reflection. I love reading Gods word and get excited now when hearing the mass readings as now they have come alive to me as they never have before. So thankful for the books and videos we have that teach us to understand scripture. I’m born and raised Catholic and thankful beyond words as each day I fall in love more and more with Jesus. Thank you BB for all you do to teach us. May God bless you abundantly !
Bishop, I so enjoy your sermons. You have this uncanny knack for giving a folksy homily that is chock full of theology. And your sermons always come back to the one central point - the mission of the Church - the salvation of all.
Thanks Bishop Barron for highlighting us this masterpiece within the Masterpiece. "Eventhough they're walking the wrong way Jesus comes and walks with them." Such a beautiful parallelism with our (my) Christian life. God bless You. I pray for You.
Bishop Barron, you are without question one of the most gifted teachers I have ever encountered in my 68 years. God has gifted you with this ability as well as your intellect, your humility, and so much more. Praise God that you accepted His request to bring the Light of Christ to all of us by the gifts He gave you. I am new to WOF but beyond grateful to have joined. Bless you for your service. I pray for you. Thank you!
I love the 3rd Sunday of Easter sermon most during the liturgical year. It is that day which everything Jesus Christ accomplished on earth starts to be revealed. What would we do without Christian friends to walk with while the Lord is among us?
God Bless you, Bishop Barron! Thank you again for a profound teaching of the Gospel! I am a cradle Catholic, but your teachings have opened up my eyes so much more that now I finally get it! 🙏✝️
Thank you Bishop Barron. So comforting to know that when I become lost and discouraged, like these two disciples, that the Lord can come beside me, illuminate my mind with the light of truth, and turn me back onto the right path once again.
You did it again Bishop Barron! Giving us a new interpretation of the walk to Emmaus! ... going in the wrong direction, the desire to have been there present listening to Our Lord Jesus' account, the analogy with the mass and turning back in the right direction! It makes such sense! I love listening to your sermons! I know I will learn and feel and grow stronger in my faith! Thank you! Grazie mille! Go raibh míle maith agat!
Thank you for this video Bishop, even when we are walking the wrong way Jesus is always with us to guide us back to the correct way and to protect us 🙏🏻
Thank you so very much for sharing your deep knowledge and Biblical perspective with us in a way that’s so engaging and spiritually enlightening. Love and peace to you Bishop Barron!
Thank you, Bishop. This is very beautiful. You made it so easy to understand the passage and it's convicting even hearing it after 1 year. It's timely as I needed it now. God bless you! ❤
Sure! Thanks You God Father for all beloveds at eternity and than never fault You! 🌭☕🍿🔥😉🍇🥰🤭🍳🥰🍝💃🍞💘🐥🌈🍼🌮👮🕺✨💗🥴🤣👑😭😁😜😝🤗💐👼😇🕊️😘Sorry This fresh My memory cause i lived all of that and the hurts here get me forget much of myself thanks You Bishop Barron

I was as well, cool to see how Bishop Barron has brought so many of us to the faith!
Welcome Home!
Congratulations I was also confirmed, it's kinda tough living in the world with all the worldly happenings and funkery going on , I wish people could feel what we feel, the world would be a better place , let's lead by example and if they ask fill them in on the mystery of faith.
Protestant being touched by the wonderful teachings of Bishop Barron 🙏
At 60 years old I finally understand that story. Tomorrow at mass I will feel like a genius! Then I will rebuke myself and read humility of heart again. Thanks Bishop!!!

I never got that they were walking the wrong way. Thank you for this Homily. The story has so much more meaning now.
Same! That would REALLY deepen the Emmaus retreat btw.
I benefit greatly from hearing the word preached through Bishop Barron. God bless him and Word on Fire ministries 🙏🏻❤️✝️
The Eucharist is God’s love unto death!!!
Psalm 23 is something I pray often throughout the day, when things are stressful, it reminds me not to rush, just stay calm and walk.
The first Mass: first the liturgy of the Word, then Communion. 💗🙏💗
I love the way you explain the scriptures Bishop Barron. I feel the quickening in my spirit as if Jesus is talking to me directly. May God continue to speak through you in this profound manner and bring many souls back to Christ and may they evangelise too of the great gift of God to us!

This sermon by B. Barron is a masterpiece on a masterpiece story within a masterpiece Gospel written by Apostle John. Glory to God in the Highest!

"Though they have the data, they don't have the meaning." Jesus, teach us about God's love unto death.
This is the first argument for the Eucharist that hit home for me.
Dear Bishop Barron,
You were in today's homily personal, profound, powerful, and prophetic.
God bless!
7:00 I love this. Accompaniment isn’t the end of the mission, nor is it an end in itself.
Could listen to this Bishop all day
Bishop Barron, I experienced an aha moment from this specific sermon.
Appreciation and love, Bp, from a humble theological student of KULeuven ❤
Thank you!
Yes thank you for another great sermon Bishop Barron.
Thank you Bishop Barron for teaching the words of Jesus. Thank you for helping me understand more clearly 🙏❤️
Go in peace to love and serve the Lord ❤
Grace , the Genius of God and it’s for everyone how Glorious ✨💫
Beautiful explanation, Bishop. God bless you once more.
Thank you Bishop Barron. So comforting to know that when I become lost and discouraged, like these two disciples, that the Lord can come beside me, illuminate my mind with the light of truth, and turn me back onto the right path once again.
Thank you and bless you Bishop, for always clarifying and adding insight to our walk with our Good Shepherd
Good sermon thank Jesus
God bless from Catholic Ireland. I love your videos. Thanks for all you do.
Bishop thanks for walking with me and explaining things to me / us so fantastically.
Thank you for this video Bishop, even when we are walking the wrong way Jesus is always with us to guide us back to the correct way and to protect us 🙏🏻
Thank you very much!!!
Wow. So beautifully and insightfully expressed.
Guess I'm going to Confession, just from the title. I know I've been walking the wrong way lately. Christe eleison.
