I have played Earthbound since I was 8, and finished it yesterday, at the age of 16, on President’s Day! Seeing all the characters leave one by one in the order they joined was so bittersweet and kind of emotional. I’ve took so many breaks so since I was 8 I never finished the game….So seeing the characters I’ve loved and played as since I was 8 leave before my eyes and seeing the credits roll and hearing this, Smiles and Tears, the Eight Melodies pieced together as I look at pictures I’ve took at countless locations was so bittersweet and emotional for me… Earthbound truly is the best game of all time imo… The end credits for it is one of a kind, and the name Smiles and Tears fits the feel of the music and beating the game overall…You Smile at the reality that you beat such a hard and long game, and all the memories made, but shed Tears at the memories and the pictures you took shown, as well as seeing all the characters depart and go back to their ordinary lives…. Goodbye Earthbound 😢
