This is sleazy if you start it but if it's payback....well.... And the other thing is that the disavow tool may not show all the spammy backlinks you have because google search console doesn't even show you all the backlinks that google knows you have. Add the fact that google may take a while to discover them all and yeah, it's like nuking a site and they will need a pro to figure out what actually happened. The bigger issue is that your victim may not recover for years so its really a nuclear option that could torch your kharma and end up with a slim chance of you getting sued. All that said - BLACK HAT SEO - go ahead and torch a test site and let's see what happens.
It's a pretty terrible thing! 100% agree with you. And it's terrible that YOU or WE could put in so much work to make a website credible for the internet and within 4 days, completely destroy someone's hard work (potentially years of hard work). It's very hard to backtrace the original ownership of the order, which makes it hard to sue (I've had single-hand experience with this). It's also hard to prove that it was malicious. And not simply an accident. It's quite terrible, honestly.
You should make a video how to defend from someone trying to do that with you that's going to be more useful.
The sad part is that there's not a great way.... That's where Google needs to step up its game.

How can I protect my sites against negative SEO ?
Especially if the sites don't have many backlinks, I have some local business websites that rank without backlinks so if a competitor used this service it would tank my sites ?
Would fondational links be enough to avoid the effects of Negative seo ?

No problem! I can do that. The reality is that the best way to protect against it is to have large quantities of good backlinks. Which sucks. Because that’s expensive.
