There's something so unsettling at the heart of this song, man: the vibe; the chords that have an almost ironic detachment to them despite the sense of desperation inherent in the lyrics; the hypnotic, almost psychedelic progression of the song...a great, great song covered really well here.
Plus the chords are just going down the entire time. You really notice it when you see it played on guitar. Everything in this song is just falling downwards.
Even the last 3 notes are a downward progression but they're resolved and peaceful. Very poetic.
@@internetsurvivor Yes, and it really imparts on one a sensation of trying to cling to life while going through the throes of depression. John Lennon also had this ability to invoke in one an almost physical sensation through the instrumentation and lyrics of a song. My favourite lyricist of all time is Neil Peart from Rush, but he had a direct way of communicating where he just forthrightly communicated the themes of a song and trusted the listener to grapple with the nuances and so-forth on their own terms; but I also greatly value this style of songwriting, where it's about establishing a mood or a vibe and almost inviting the listener to share in the mental state of the songwriter, where they're not particularly interested in communicating a world view, but rather engendering empathy through painting a worldview.
I couldn't say it better!
Hey man, I started guitar say 3 months ago, and I really like your covers because they give me a reference on how to play the songs. So thank you for these sweet covers.
You are very welcome my friend!
Incredible! I got goosebumps listening to this. So enjoyable to listen to 🤘🤘🤘!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@SparkyGuitar your covers are always so good! From matching the gear and tone, to the playing!
1:20 to 1:22 is awesome
Oh man, trying to tune to this must've been brutal... That poor G!!!

You change the gauge of the strings that you're going to either up+tune or down+tune, relative to how the string tension would be if they were to be tuned normally, and then you have no problem.
Extremely sweet tones! (as always :) )
Great cover. You nailed it. Love the guitars!!
Thanks a lot Mike!
Accurate cover and gorgeous Custom semihollow! Suggestion for other Soundgarden covers in this same tuning: My Wave, Been Away Too Long, Worse Dreams, Somewhere (this last one really is EEBBBe).
Good work!!!
Great songs!
Definitely more Soundgarden to come! Such a good band and great fun to play
outstanding!!
That is the best cover I’ve seen so far! For us guitar players anyway! Thanks man appreciate the video!
This song really hits home for me! There’s something perfect about the sound and the words that make it feel so horrible and perfect and powerful all at the same time!!
Glad it helped! Cracking tune!
Wow you are an artist...
You cover is awesome..loved it
You deserve lot of SUBSCRIBER..
Keep in touch
Thank you so much Rohan! 😀
Excellent!
perfect
That main riff always had a Master Of Puppets vibe to it with the chromatic descend
Grandioso!!!! 💪
Soliiiiiidddddddd
Great cover! Would love a cover on Pretty Noose
Excellent cover dude! How many strings did you break while tuning for this song? Personally I broke two LMAO
Are both guitars tuned the same? Great cover btw
Thanks... yes they are
Did you have to replace the G string to tune it up to B?
what guitar are using for the bottom video? amazing job btw!!
What kind of Gibson hollowbody is that? Doesn't look like a 335. Great cover!!
Thanks! It’s a 335… an original 1976… the extra switch is a coil tap which was standard around that time.
So this is only 5 strings? Because the description and video both say EEBBBb
That’s 6 strings…. The small b indicates that is the high string tuned to b… not that the 2nd string is flat. Hope that helps!
Wait, so then the second string is tuned down an octave to match the third and fourth strings? I can only really understand the small 'b' being used to imply a higher octave, but if that's true then the second string shouldn't be changed, and it should be something like EEBBbb, yes? I apologize for being pedantic, I just don't typically use that kind of notation for altered tunings.
Not to sound bossy xD, but it would be cool as a suggestion if you'd put which guitar player plays what part :D
Good point... I used to do that but stopped for some reason! No idea why- just another thing to remember in the editing I guess! Look out for the Pixies song I'm releasing later today... I remembered to include their names this time! (And it's not bossy at all - good suggestion!)
This song has such a complicated time to play
Where can I get the backing track?
Hi - it's not a backing track... I play over the original and mix it so you can hear me over the original guitars
tuning?
In the description under the video…
@@SparkyGuitar oh my bad i didnt look in the desc! thanks anyways tho !
