I slipped once doing a brake job, stretching one of the springs on drum brakes, punched myself in the mouth, put my tooth through my lip and needed 6 stitches. It took about a month to live it down in the shop! That Geo Metro has Fab Rats project written all over it.
I learned a long time ago that when you are out ripping around, it doesn't matter how fast it really is, it only matter how fast it FEELS. That's why go karts & homemade buggies are way more fun than they should be!
Hi Paul, I follow you every video, here in Denmark. Admiring your family, your wir and builds. I have a little history from the cross Country World being a mechanic for offroad Endurance rally drivers in Europe. I Can highly recommend Teixeiratech suspension parts, from California. Have used his excellent parts for Polaris biggest range of ATVs and UTVs. He understands dynamic forces and since using his parts, we have have only replacing a if driver has crashed vehicle.
I have a geo metro i built a SXS out of it has a lift kit 33s and a roll cage a set of foo road bumpers it's a fun woods toy I've got a set of Toyota solid axles for it
that's really cool are all those little metros 3cylinders? my buddy Ike had one in highschool and it was a 3cylinder hatchback and I remember we would go everywhere in that car all piled in, it was incredible on gas, not fast at all but amazing fuel economy😂 I remember it was absolutely mint when he got it
Side x side repairs to do to keep everyone happy! Cool little Geo Jace. But a bit cool to drive at night. 14 inches of wet snow yesterday and today in SE Colorado.
but I could be wrong, I know a little about a bunch, but honestly know pretty much nothing about tubes, except making janky homemade roll cages back in the 90s😂
You're supposed to learn something new every day. I've learned and added "That's Fart Tight" to my vocabulary. Thanks, Paul. I don't have to do anything else all day.
It's got to be my age. I love the cold but I've become a prepper all the time. I bundle, helmet and mask up all the time now. I'm just fine and cozy anywhere I go.🤙
I am sure there has been several recommendation on places to by accessories. I would highly recommend S3 Power Sports, they have the accessories you are looking for and I've had a perfect fit on everything I have ordered from them.
Paul, Having kids works out well for you the more they use your toys the more upgrades you get to do and Michelle can't give you the stink eye for spending money. 😉
Paul, can you imagine people that didn’t have the space, lift, tools to work on the side by side running into the problems you did? Probably would have lost their mind! Great job just fixing the original one just so it’ll live another day. Crazy Jace, lol. He has your genes, great score Jace!🤙😎
Man, those Geos you can't kill them. There imports also. I was 17 when that car was new. A gf I had back in the late 90s had one of those with the soft top, they were fun to drive
A million years ago i had a geo metro when i lived in Jersey n i loved it. Factory 3 cylinder engine which my car had but only 2 cylinders were working n she pushed up to 60mph on the good old Garden State Parkway!!! Driving it was so much fun bc it felt like driving a go cart. This car was so light i would pick up the rear end both wheels off the ground just for fun 🤣🤣🤣
A man who gets to use big machines, Wield Big Hammers and cutting torches, and drives off-road to rescue people does not need therapy. Paul works shoulder to shoulder with his sons and other men accomplishing great tasks and providing for his family. He does not need to sit and talk face to face with someone who doesn't understand his world and talk about emotions.
I used Super ATV control arms similar to what you're doing, 2" forward and ordered new bushings with them. Install had no problems and they were stout. I got a feeling you need to fire your parts person 🤔
Those SATV a-arms are nice, bet they are a pain to install even when you get the right parts. I’ve put them on 2 Kawasaki Teryx and they were an all day project for me, and I am by no means a professional.
Instructions Manual: AKA:.. ( A Suggestion Pamphlet)..? When Men Refuse to Use a Manual. And Men Don’t get Old…? lol We Just get to a Point where we Realize That Someone Younger Needs To Do This…😎👍💪💯 This Channel is the Bomb
According to Dr. Giggle, *red* locktite requires some HEAT: "Removing Loctite threadlocker (red) requires you to heat up the nut and bolt for a short period by applying localised heat with a blow torch. This will soften up the thermoset plastic in the threadlocker, allowing you to then take the assembly apart." For anything to be taken apart without heroic measures, only use the blue stuff. :)
I’ve seen bolts ovalized/stretched underload in motorsports applications that may be the situation here he had to get it past the stretch or ovalized section of the bolt
I totally get the concept of anger management when doing a simple job of replacing parts using factory branded dedicated model-specific "perfect match" parts. They never are -- and there's always at least one bolt in the hardest to reach place that will either not come out or not go in that can take a day or more of struggle (physical and emotional) all by itself. And I'm only talking a snow blower.
I've been watching Fab Rats for a couple of years and feel like Paul has lost his mojo the last few months. Interesting he mentioned anger management as I have also noticed an underlining anger/frustration in his more recent videos. Or maybe just too much pressure to provide content 3x a week. Take care of yourself Paul as we love watching you and your family.
I have a pretty solid collection of cars and I've actively searched (in my area) for a solid Geo Metro to add to the collection. (I have a pretty wide variety of vehicles in my collection.) LOL I don't want one like the one you bought. I want it to be completely stock and in pristine condition, one preserved in good condition 'cause restoring one would be stupidly expensive for a car with a value that low. Why? Well, driving a slow car fast is always fun and winding that 3 cyl engine out (while still getting 50 mpg) just seems like fun. It wouldn't be my daily driver but it'd make for a fun weekend car here and there. I tend to pick a car per week and put it in the garage (from one of the 'barns' - steel buildings) along with my seasonal daily driver. So, it'd get driven once in a while. And I'd have fun at it. Also, people would be baffled as to why I bought it.
Speaking of farts 😲 , when the wife and I were at Walmart the other day , my wife smelt a little boy that she thinks crapped his pants and pointed it out to me with a half a dozen people standing around us . I just asked out loud " do you smell popcorn" and the look on most people's faces after taking a great big sniff was priceless 😂😂😂😂
Please do us all a favor and look into repping some “Fab Rat” bib overalls and then wear some yourself! Tom could use some too he spends half his time pulling his drawers up
I'm surprised with all the new tools you're accumulating that you haven't bought an induction heater for stuck bolts and nuts. Slide it over the fastener, get it red hot and twist it loose.
Com on Paul you know darn good and well when you find shampoo the next morning In a vehicle that your kids had out playing there was skinny dipping involved 😂😂😂😂 you been there apple doesn't fall far from the tree
Bless your heart Paul…bad parts, wrong parts, frustration and you always push through…quite the example sir 🫶

This is one of the most truest statements that’s out there

On the bolts that are tight. They use locktite and lock nuts.
Put some heat on the nut then they will come right off.
I work on them everyday.
What he said 💯.
As usual life happens and you have to do the day to day stuff to keep family happy.
It doesn't matter if it's your wife, mom, sister or your daughter it definitely pays to keep the ladies in your life HAPPY! Good job Dad!👍😁
There is an access plug through the floorboard to access that a arm bolt
I hv a commander and mine don't hv thst but the model 2 yrs before mine has it but idk wat model this one is.
Hey, I got the Jerky that I ordered (5 packages) and it is OUTSTANDING! Now I wish I had ordered more!!! THANK YOU!!!!

That’s some really hillbilly sh17. I love it 🇺🇸
I love seeing members of the up and coming generation who can drive a clutch!
Awesome video! 😊
Thank you for sharing!😊
"Thats fart tight"- now that needs to be on a tshirt 😂
One things for sure. Nobody likes a loose fart.
As I’ve grown older I’ve come to the realization that, You Never Trust a Fart!
@@michaelmccluskey1155 What’s the definition of an unexpected surprise? A fart with a lump in it.
@@michaelmccluskey1155ant that the truth. One day it takes medicine and the next you take a shower
Absolutely should be a new fabrats shirt
Tom and Cooper are both great additions to the channel!
Where is hunter?
YES! Something (side by side) cleaned prior to working on it!
Landon is a hell of a good kid. Jase could learn alot from him. ALOT
They're both good kids. The beauty of having kids is that they're all their own little people with totally different personalities.
Can really tell who is the mother's son and father's son yup
They both seem like good kids but I think you have them backwards Landon wasn’t in this video
Actually, Landon’s girlfriend broke it Jace helped his dad fix. Both of those young men work hard and help their dad.
They’re both good guys , Jace is just a little more outgoing on camera.
Side x side repairs to do to keep everyone happy! Cool little Geo Jace. But a bit cool to drive at night. 14 inches of wet snow yesterday and today in SE Colorado.
15:52 Who's got the courage to tell him it's not the same tube?
I think he meant diameter
but I could be wrong, I know a little about a bunch, but honestly know pretty much nothing about tubes, except making janky homemade roll cages back in the 90s😂
Your new camera man makes for a better door than a window when the tripod camera is being used.
Before the plasma...
Weld a piece of flat stock to the nut.
The loctite might let loose with heat and then use an air ratchet.
You're supposed to learn something new every day. I've learned and added "That's Fart Tight" to my vocabulary. Thanks, Paul. I don't have to do anything else all day.
Nope shart tight is really really tight
Omfg this comment made me literally laugh out loud as I’m making dinner, and yes, “that’s fart tight” has been added to my vocabulary now!
@wadenulton9243 hahahaha, thanks. It made my day hearing that.
Don't you just love parts guys and after market parts ! I know your pain ! Thanks for sharing !
Good morning I always enjoy the FabRats adventures never know what will be in the shop that needs fixing.
Love the kids getting more involved!!
I can't wait to see the TACO back on the road and recoveries.
From the sound of your voice it sounds like there is a hell of allot that is going on in your life. You got this champ and you have our support!👍🤙
It's got to be my age. I love the cold but I've become a prepper all the time. I bundle, helmet and mask up all the time now. I'm just fine and cozy anywhere I go.🤙
Like the greatest mechanic on RUclips, Eric O at south main auto channel says “Just because the part is new doesn’t mean it’s good”
Hey Paul , Hold up!!! Did I hear correctly? Did I hear finally taco getting a LS and 1tons???im sure I heard the taco was coming in next!!! Let's Go!
Paul said that for years now.
That's been the plan for several years. It just kept driving so he didn't pull it off the road.
That was is everything, I feel it coming.
Well that all was some bad drama, and Paul was so handled it with calm,, and poise. 👍🏼👍🏼
I like the backup episodes, for when they are not available to film. It is a little break from the norm. Hope you and your family are enjoying SEMA.
Video was So Nice…..
Had to Watch it Twice.👍😎

Im glad you won the on x off road challenge yea let's go fab rats
I told you the Geo ran like a champ! Glad you guys got it home in one piece!
Good fix, poor Gracie's ride was abused and you got it back on the road!!
Thanks for making
I recommend an induction bolt loosener. They are a little pricey but work fantastic.
Paul has one somewhere, I saw a video where Paul was showing grandma lolly how it works and explaining how it concentrates the heat
@ I guess he doesn’t use it because he can’t find it.😂😂
Won't bigger tires promote bending the A-arms? Will we see you doing this exact repair again?
Video was So Nice…..
Had to Watch it Twice.👍😎
I've used a propane torch to heat the loctited part. Comes right off.
Paul, can you imagine people that didn’t have the space, lift, tools to work on the side by side running into the problems you did? Probably would have lost their mind! Great job just fixing the original one just so it’ll live another day. Crazy Jace, lol. He has your genes, great score Jace!🤙😎
Gotta love when a junk doesn't break, nice Geo
Congrats fabrats on the win. Thanks for the video

No time to mess with and "Fix" side by sides, but plenty of time to test drive one! Paul the video is fun either way.
With Geo Metro find out when the timing belt was last changed. The manual says every 75K. They usually shred around 150K.

Got to love that Geo Metro! I still have a 1990 Geo Prizm

oh man you got me worked up when you said you were going to work on the tacoma. im here for it.
Get yourself some of those pipe pliars that hold two pieces of pipe together while working them.
Not gonna lie, I've pushed out a few farts turning wrenches in my day but never heard the term "fart tight" I'm definitely gonna start saying that
I think your Commander parts supplier is the same parts supplier as your transmission rebuilder.
12:27 this Geo has got to be y’all‘s next 4 x 4 project straight axles lift kit LS go for it!!!!
Thank you guys
Sun shining over there 😅 in Colorado will be getting 18” of snow ⛄️
Keep up with the good work Paul love watching your videos on RUclips God bless
Im sure gracie is happy the gracie-mobile is rolling again!
Tell Jace to put them side by side tires on that Metro 🤘😎
Ok you weren’t joking, the new beef jerky is awesome. I will be ordering a lot more lol
I’ve seen bolts ovalized/stretched underload in motorsports applications that may be the situation here he had to get it past the stretch or ovalized section of the bolt
Should have made your own modified A-Arms from the start. Love the video love your kids love your family! Always good stuff!!!
Finally new parts to fix something instead of junk parts on junk.
For anyone thinking about forward a arms, you will loose some turning radius.
Landon's lurid pink shampoo is superb. "wash and go"...
Good video! Catch you on the next.✌️ 😊
Order ur A Arms thru ORB FAB and u won’t be disappointed great company out of Tennessee and great customer service
Good morning everyone 🤙🏻😎
I thought he was a wrencher.. the rubberpart on the bushing is a quite significant part of ”bushin”.. It’ll fit.
Jace, great little "go buggy."
Hey Paul, should Miss Gracie be down there helping?🤔😂👍🏻
But Miss Gracie didn't break it 😃😉
If you can apply heat, the loctite will loosen. Do you have induction coil heater?

That one bolt you got messin with, well my friend thats EVERY bolt up here in Ontario 😆
Nice Geo ✓. Just a piece of Lexan and some self tappers and you have a RACING windshield ✓
This is one of a few times you fought stubborn bolt and nut without using heat.
Good job guys love watching your videos

I also have one that looks Juuust like that!!! Ans it only took me nine years to get it like that!!!
