When you stopped me from the "I'm not creative" thought and connected it to how we are made in the image and likeness of God - the ultimate creator. Wow! So powerful.

We have a small farm and it’s super helpful to force me outside when it’s cold and I’d rather stay in! Social media… that’s one I seriously need to reevaluate how much stress it’s causing me. Thanks for sharing, rather timely video since a lot of these things are more difficult in winter for me!

Thank you so much for sharing this! I have a toddler at home and have been having some challenging behaviors I've had to deal with. I realize that I am better able to deal with these things when I'm not overwhelmed myself. But I have been feeling so overwhelmed! I loved how you talked about being creative. I think I need a creative outlet so I might try to start thinking about that. Also spending less time on social media is something I've been thinking about a lot as it really can make me feel down when I am on it too much. Thank you for reminding me that I'm not alone and for giving helpful tips :)

This was a good reminder for me in the new year - to put some effort into real self care as a Homeschooling Mama. Especially not scrolling into a virtual world of eacape!!

Stand outs for me: creativity time for mom, getting outside. Both improvements for mental health I'm working harder on.

Box breathing is great, and reconnecting with nature on a daily basis is crucial! 🌱☀️ Disconnecting from social media is hugely refreshing to help us recharge! I personally have notifications turned off and settings that filter essential phone numbers to set boundaries around my availability to unnecessary things. I enjoy journalling and we both read and do crafts separately but together, which is fun!
To me, self care is filling my cup so I can give to my family, work & friends. Simple things like enjoying the moment of my daily hygiene activities like leaving a warm wash cloth on my face, breathing in with the warmth of the cloth before taking it off.
Using my favourite coffee mug & glasses to drink from as they bring me joy to use them.
Communicating to my family when I need to take a break, letting them know that I need to step away for a moment, and I go to my office, put music on and light my oilburner with a nice blend of essential oils. I also use music, fresh air, & the essential oil aromas to help give the rest of our home a peaceful & refreshed ambience.

Definitely trying to get outside more! 🎉It’s hard when it’s soooo cold! 🤣But I do notice that even when I go out to pull in the garbage cans or something, the crisp air makes a difference to my brain and lungs!!

Creating more regularly is what's standing out to me. I've gotten into a funk of just accomplishing all the things... checking off the list of daily tasks. And when those are complete, creativity just feels like more work. The idea you mentioned of bringing it back in weekly or even just a couple times a month is inspiring. -Sara

Yes to creativity!! Music is my most beloved creative outlet, and yet I had the hardest time prioritizing it. I've made a point to just got sit and play for 5 mins a few times a week. Sometimes I can just play for that 5 minutes, sometimes 20 and occasionally longer, but it really helps me refill my cup.

The social media one hit me way hard. I always feel guilty for trying to escape my life. But I just felt like I didn’t know what else to do to change my feeling of needing to escape.

    • @TheEclecticHomeschooler
      @TheEclecticHomeschooler  Год назад +1

I can totally relate! I spent a few years stuck in that cycle myself… I think for me, one thing that is helpful is to make a detailed list of the things that are causing me stress that I feel like I’m trying to escape from. Once those things are named, it’s a lot easier to work on finding a solution for them. Begin with the one that is the largest pain point and start looking into ways to resolve that issue. I.e. more consistent discipline if kids are misbehaving, waking up earlier if some personal quiet time is needed, sibling conflict resolution skills if it’s kids fighting all the time, etc. Wishing you the best! God bless!

LOVE, love, love this video!!! So many good tips. It’s so important to make these things a priority or we can easily become overwhelmed and burnt out (even doing things we love!)
Lately I’ve been working on limiting social media. I went without it for a few weeks and my life was so much better. I’m going to do it again. It really is depressing to constantly see all the ads and the snippets of everyone’s life looking perfect (even thought we know it’s not) but you start to think “My kids aren’t always dressed in their Sunday best to do school” or “my home isn’t decorated like theirs” and then there’s all the ads “my life would be better if I had that” or “oh I NEED that!!” And before you know it you have bought a bunch of stuff you are donating to the thrift store and wasted money on.
Thanks for the encouragement and thoughts. ❤❤❤❤

Being outside, soaking up the sun stands out to me. It is a great way to restore peace. I use socials for homeschool groups only I wish I could access groups only and skip everything else.
I am trying to be more creative and open to trying new things.

Yes ! The comparison factor is so hard for me to handle . I can't even have social media . The creative aspect I have neglected. It brings me so much joy to be creative and my children are so creative but I lost that through comparison. I put all my effort into mastering the basic academics that we don't have time for creativity. So sad but I'm glad this is being brought to my attention . Thank You Jesus for showing this to me today
