Good morning, it's indeed great to hear and see your wonderful Restaurant. I hail from Ajmer, a city in Rajasthan. Alongwith my parents we often spent our holidays at Pune. We have my cousins residing at Pune. You will remember Lord's Tailors and Out fitters, the owner the late Mr. Amaro Martins and also his younger brother the late Mr.lukas Martins had his small home very close on Dastur Medi Road. Me and my wife late Dr. Mrs Bertha Dsouza often came to your place to eat the delicious Biryani.. I often come to Pune but stay pretty far at Undhri. My daughter has a home there. On my next visit to Pune, I will make it a point to meet you in person. I am now 82 years in age but young at heart. Warm regards Michael
Quite a heartening take on the iconic Dorabjee's. Put together in a manner , so befitting the family - simple, yet distinguished . The essence is really well captured.. fantastic editing and music score. Kudos
Will visit Dorabjees on my next visit. Thankyou for highlighting one of Pune's gems. GOD bless Darius, his family, the entire team and of course you, so that we continue to get more videos 😀
Ah, such a nostalgic vdo. Yes, DORABJEE is Pune’s pride. Super-duper Biryani, mouth-watering, delicious, sumptuous and served with love. Simple courteous and soft spoken waiters, if you are a regular they know exactly what you want, and the soda you order will be brought from across the street ‘The Ardashir’ Parsi cold drinks manufacturing factory. I knew Darius’ dad since 1977. A gem of a man, always smiling & a thorough gentleman. Whenever I went to eat at Dorabjees’ he would chat with us and ask, ‘sub theek hai’. It was once a week, ritual to eat biryani at Dorabjees’ and we use to anxiously wait and look forward to visiting Dorabjee. Then Pune grew up, and now it has gone the Bombay way. Nothing is the same as it use to be. It’s over crowded dirty hot & noisy, not like the simple sweet cool-cold hill station, that it was. ‘A One Horse Town’, it was called. Now it’s mini-Bombay. Darius has taken after his dad and does a great job in running Dorabjee, he too like is dad is caring loving and very attentive and honestly runs the Restaurant with feelings. And now it is so nice to see Darius and his sons doing such a good job. And they seems genuinely interested. I wish them ‘all the very BEST’ it’s quite some time I’ve left Pune but whenever I’m in Pune, a visit to Dorabjee is a must. Apart from the Biryani which is a must to have, the other dishes to enjoy is Brain masala & the cutlets and the Parsi dishes available only on Sundays. They cook with Heart and serve with Love. Super! Don’t miss if and when you visit Pune. पूने के किसी भी कोने में हो और पूछो दोराबजी कहाँ हे, आप को ऐडरस मील जायेगा। Wish you all the Best Darius. God Bless (from US)
Wow what an iconic place .great restaurant with a great owner who has given the essence of running a good restaurant a lot of things to learn for new restaurant owners.❤
Yes it's a legendary place we were regular when i was studying at St Vincent's even now after so many years when I'm in Pune i try to have my lunch or dinner at Dorabjee's 😋
On week days the service is good, the food and the quantity is good. On weekends when full all of a sudden the serving bowl becomes small, the quantity is reduced the food quality is compromised. Although I have been patronizing this restaurant since years it's time to rethink.
its so easy to root for these folks... casually spitting out entrepreneurial risks, succession planning, organizational effectiveness and above all undying customer obsession... any product (in this case happens to be food) will exceed expectations if these folks are at the helm... mad respect..!! what's taught in hallowed B-Schools, sold as top tier advice in McK, BCGs is being implemented as Duh-Matter-of-fact-obviosuly ..!! in the era of mass market ultra processed food conglomerates and franchise food enterprises, these SMBs w/ this culture will be a standout. And anyone with a half decent taste bud will flock to this place knowing it's 1 of 1. you made it all about people (rightfully so!!) yet the undercurrent of food never escapes the frame...
