I'm all for Mark Canha.. was a great clubhouse guy with a lot of energy.. great chemistry and good numbers against left hand pitching .. I would not be surprised if he decides to "sign" with the Mets with a spring training invite !!

You sound like a PR guy who's working for Cahna AND the Mets. This is PURELY a leverage tactic to convince Alonso that they have options at first base. Boras is probably telling Alonso that the Met's aren't trading for Mountcastle OR Torkleson. He's probably telling Pete to call their bluff, sit tight, and wait them out. The Met's counter-move is to use Cahna as their other option. They are trying to show some other option without having to follow through on their bluff and trade valuable minor league pieces for someone NOT named Cease or King.
Disagree with wordy on this one. I don’t wants a 35 year old washed up,outfielder with a weak bat. As it is we have an aging Nimmo who frankly isn’t hitting like a left fielder. A weak hitting cf and a so so dh. Lots of weakness offensively. Plus we still have marte. No we dont want canna. We need Alonso and still could use another hitter.

Canha would be good for a minor league contract with potential for call up if needed. Great veteran to have in AAA.
Still waiting desperately for the Polar Bear…..and I would like to see Iglesias return too.
