    Personally, I really LOVE using hot press watercolour paper for ink. It also means you can use watercolour and gouache with your inks that way. Hot press is smooth too so I find making tiny details on it works muh better than on cold press and markers and pencil work better too.

      I absolutely agree! Although there is something so nice about the roughness of cold press..... - Mia Rozear, Art Prof Staff

      @@artprof oh absolutely! I just prefer it because I find that the pen is less likely to snag on smoother paper.

    I transitioned into using H pencils for my underdrawings in my own mixed media watercolor work and could tell it worked better, but never really put my finger down on WHY. But that makes a lot of sense! It's not just that the line is lighter, it also roams around less.
    Thanks so much for a great tutorial! Song's work is beautiful and she speaks about it so well.

      @@artprof Thanks! I will definitely check it out. I was such a rebel with other picture. I used colored pencils instead of watercolor pens. ;-) I have to admit, it was really freeing to just make things up as I went along. I'm usually so structured. One part of my picture I had originally drawn a seashell but it ended up being a flower when I was done. I must be mellowing because that would have the structured part of me thrown into a tizzy!

    What is the differences in drawing, calligraphy, fountain pen, and India inks? Do you only use one or all?

    • @artprof
      @artprof  Год назад

      They are more or less the same thing! I would say their purposes are different-- once you start using india ink for calligraphy, it can be considered calligraphy ink. I would also pay attention to if the ink your using is water based/soluble or not, because that can affect your project as well. - Mia, Art Prof Staff
