Looks like some of Capital Hill and Queen Anne Hill. Used to live just off of Queen Anne Hill above Aurora. As a kid I lived about 4 blocks from Green Lake. A great place to grow up then (50) years ago. Not sure about now. Been living in So. Cal for the last 50 years and the people here have the same problem with rain as Seattlites have with snow. Great video.
Thank you! I bet you wouldn't recognize the city much at all anymore. I've only lived here for just about 6 years, and when I see video from _3_ years ago, I'm like "wait, that's what that block used to look like??" Now I'm picturing Californians spinning and crashing into trash bins and cars on a slightly damp street 🤣
I thought so too! 😂 Funny how music can often accidentally coincide well with the visuals. I got a similar laugh out of the timing of the guitar riff and the guy sliding down the stairs
Yea….those are the kind of conditions where you just flag out don’t leave your house unless it’s an absolute emergency….cuz with that topography, you ain’t gonna win against Mother Nature lol
Thank you! Once I saw these popping up on social media and dashcam channels, I both regret and am glad that I didn't venture out into the wild while that was happening
@@SaltySeattleCyclist I would have ventured out, unfortunately my rig ended up being towed to the shop on Thu morning as it didn't want to stay running (coldest morning since I bought it). The shop got it running (as it had been sitting inside), found #4 cylinder had no compression due a burnt valve (I'm guessing that's why it's been gutless since I bought it). Needs a new head, should get it back later this week, really want to get it out in some snowy weather to see how it does, just had RWD pickups in the past.
@@SaltySeattleCyclist I just watched the Grand Tour Scandinavia Special last night... their drifting cabins on skis looked remarkably similar to skidding sideways down Capitol Hill.
As a neighbor, State, to the South, in the PNW, I feel your pain. To be honest I try to drive on a flat, and slow (-10 mph below posted), a land as I can; during these sh1t storms. This weekend the only sliding I had, minor, was in the parking lot; at work.
When Seattle was first settled by the Pioneers they should have built the roads with only a slight incline downhill. This would have taken less effort by the mules pulling wagons and hence they would have burned fewer calories which would save on feed. These poor residents have to suffer badly due to the oversight and it may be too late to do anything now. Engineering geniuses such as me don't come along but once in a lifetime. Lol... (Just kidding, whaddya gonna do ? )
Some people are foolish, and some of these are just stupid. Einstein was right Human Stupidity is infinite. Christmas eve was Santa weather here, not so bad late afternoon on Christmas day. More snow today, Could you keep that ice on your side of the Rockies, please. I've been through one ice storm here in middle Tennessee, and I'd rather not do that again. This was funny though. Stay warm and stay off the ice!
I won't say anything about proper tires/chains since I don't know Seattle laws, but anyone dumb enough to live there AND not have proper spike grips on their shoes when going out deserve to be laughed at.
We get weather like this maybe twice a decade. I can't remember the last time this happened, and I've lived here all my life. If you don't regularly do winter sports in the mountains around here, you don't have snow or ice gear. While studded tires are legal in Seattle, no one has them because, again, this happens a handful of times a decade and if you don't regularly go into the mountains, no one is gonna pay extra for 4 months' use of tires. And sometimes, no amount of preparation can save you from the conditions. A lot of Seattle is near vertical, nothing plows or sand can do anything about (we can't use salt or chemicals because it poisons the salmon populations). And NO amount of preparation will stop stupid people being stupid.
@@Masters-rc9sc I don't think I'd trust dollar store snow and ice gear for my car, but I get your point. I have chains in my car, had a set for every car I've ever owned. Never used them, again, it's so rare we get ice weather like that and I'm absolutely not one for winter adventures.

Laughing in Arizonan while it’s 70° on Christmas 😂
Y'all must be freezing down there!
And everyone will be laughing at Arizona when its summer and 110.
Very funny haha.
🤦
@@chrislim7976 not everywhere in Arizona gets to 110°
Yeah but we’ll be laughing in the summer when it’ll be a nice 80° in Seattle and 120° in Arizona hahahaha
And in SoCal it was like 80 😭

Seattle has some of the craziest hills of any city. Add ice. Good luck.
The best compilation of Seattle Ice Storm 2022 and great choice of music!
Thanks!! 🥰
WOW...I love how some people made lemonade, skating around gracefully.. but those falls... they can be
very damaging...
It's crazy how some people are too stupid to understand how ice works on steep hilly streets.
The only ones who understood it were the ones sliding down the hill on their butts on purpose

I thought Subaru is the best for winter 😳
The guy with the ice scrapper..omg I am still laughing. He is all about that ice scrapper. honestly I think its what kept him up.

I live in the area and when they told all of us to stay home because of the freezing rain I did and we now see the people that didn't listen ..
I sent this video to my Finnish-Canadian friend, who lives in Vancouver and refers to WA as "South BC". Her response? *"o y p e r k e l e"*
Hahahahaha love it! We could learn a thing or seven from the Finns about how to handle winter weather 😂

I slid down a hill on my ass like a Mario game
On purpose? 😜
@@SaltySeattleCyclist unfortunately no. The guy across the street with a big smile on his face seemed to enjoy my misfortune tho

I'm glad to hear that! That looked *intense* af 😵
