I was forced to take my husband's name and he has since passed on now I'm stuck with an identity I don't even want. His family basically threw me out right after his funeral!
I took my husband's name in both my marriages and I regret it because the name-changing process is a big hassle - time consuming and tedious. I think I did it to just "go with the flow" - not realizing that I was supporting the Patriarchy, which I now realize is an oppressive regime. If I had it to do over again, I would just keep my maiden name. Hindsight is 20/20 as they say.
Wonderful video. Thank you.
