I don't get this negativity. Do any of you realise how difficult this song would be to cover? Carly did a fine job. She had her own spin to it was not going for a replica of Queen's original song. Yes Queen's version is the best and Freddie has more talent than most artists, but I still say Carly did a perfectly decent, if not awesome job at this!
I really love her style here. The long hair curled at the ends, the long bangs, the long skirt... Her look almost reminds of Jenny Lewis from Rilo Kiley.

He said that they completely rip of the people like themselves that worked for years perfecting the act and writing the music. They get instant stardom and praise from an icon before they even earned or accomplished anything,. He called it complete bullshit and he said it was unfair to the young artist who predominately gets chewed up and dumped.
I'm sure Brian May doesn't give a rat's ass about how entertaining HE is on the show. My whole point is to emphasize the psychological marketing on shows like this. If he gives the contestant heaps of praise, many viewers will think that contestant did better than he/she did objectively. The better the perfromance is received, the more money he makes in royalties, downloads, etc. I'm not faulting him (or any other est. artist for doing this)...he's just playing the game, and you're being had.

on American Idol Brian May was not nearly as nice when several of the contestants wanted to change the song up. He very quickly and sternly would say things like "NO" "Never" "Um, no way". I think going to a show like this and kissing ass would be less entertaining than say Simon being a prick. So why would they expect rock and roll legends to behave like kiss asses?
I love this cover. Of course I love queen. But killer queen was not my favorite. After I heard this cover of Carly. I just fall in love with this song and her cover is very catchable.
