On the bank of the Tisza River lived a fisherman together with his wife, but they were sad, as they didn’t have a child. One time the old man, as he was fishing at night on the Tisza River, the water brought a little coffin, with a baby inside it. He was very joyous, he took him home, and they happily brought him up. The colt also was brought up together with Johnny, which they took home on advice from the teacher. This colt was not a colt of any kind, but rather a magic horse, with the help of which Johnny manages to save his little daughter, who is kept by a cruel witch locked in a dark cave in the neighbouring country.
Made by the Kecskemét Film Studio.
Directed by: Lajos Nagy
Storyteller: Gyula Szabó
Music: Kaláka band
The makers used the decorative art of a certain countryside region at each episode. The trio of folk art, folk music and folk tales are masterfully combined in the episodes, which have unique imagery, sometimes spicy folk humor in the dialogues. Thanks to the natural presentation of the storytellers, and the music of the Kaláka band, the viewer can experience something unique and special.

This is one of those stories where the morals are unclear and it leaves you emotionally confused...
They all are!
None of these folktales are clear. Some how dark but funny
What I learned from most of these stories is that 1. Be blonde 2. Be the youngest out of your siblings and you will live happy ever after.
Yep!
I learned horses are all knowing cosmic beings also if a baby shows up in a coffin you can have it.
"Ask the owner to sell it, if he wont sell it, STEAL IT" i'm feeling great moral from this one
Id steal for my sister ive never met!
steal is ok if you really need that
Yeah just rob😂😂💵💵💵💵💸💸💸💸💸💳💳💳💳💰💰💰💰💷💷💷💶💶💶
that horse is a bad influence!
In the sequel, he'll probably teach John to smoke lol
@@nothingposted9056He really shouldn't teach the kid to smoke.
Saam Amerat it was a joke. Stealing is also bad, even if the tale justifies it
😅😅😅
“If he wont sell it, steal that mf” - hungarian horse
John: Fred's a talking horse! He can do whatever he wants!
Horse: I wanna steal.
Interesting that he's rescuing his sister and not some fair maiden to marry.
Also: that horse is BOSSY AF
"I wanna steal"
This is the horse from 'Over The Garden Wall'
Fred the Horse! 😂😂😂
Omg you are right!😂
Grand thef horse!
This story was quite unusual, compared to the other fairytales it made me think that this story had more to tell. Like, why did the horse talk? How did it know that John had a sister? Her name even? Why did the old woman lock her away? What’s with the inconsistent idea and significance of John buying a saddle then stealing a reign and then given a silver sword? I mean it was blatantly useless and the apples did better apparently...and even the 27 so called stallions! 27! Rather unique number do you think? The title would certainly throw you off since it wasn’t about him fishing.
So many questions... like it’s incomplete...
Her name is Helen
It is a folktale not a fairytale
27= 3*3*3. Three and nine are both mystical numbers in Hungarian traditions by the way. Motifs of 3, 7, 9, 12 and different variations of them tend to reappear in many tales.
I've seen an explanation according to which these tales were used in the past to mask esoteric/spiritual knowledge when it was persecuted. With time things changed and often became obscure, but some important symbols were kept - only to look quite random from the distance of time. Numbers are often symbolic. This is just something on top of my head, but 27 would kabalistically be broken down to 9 (2+7). The girl was locked in a place underground. Those evil creatures could represent the 9 layers of the underworld/hell, which would rage against someone who is being saved from there. In some religions and spiritual traditions the soul (seen as female) needs to be saved by another spiritual aspect of the person, so it's something that a person achieves within themselves. The whole work on the preparation for this great deed can be symbolised by the boy getting ready, preparing its horse and then going through the trials.
He is the almighty horse
When naruto listens to a horse
pafcat1988 lol 😂
You mean Boruto? Naturo is the only child.
Not acording to the hungarian folk tales (but I know that naruto is a sad lonely child)
🤣🤣🤣

The animation is gorgeous.
Because RUclips has mostly shit content. Hard to find anything good to watch.
steal it
Teacher: "John, please buy this horse from me. All it does is keep telling me to buy and steal things from the other villagers."
I learned how to steal from this horse
If someone don't sell you anything then steal it what kind of story is that or they are teaching their children to steal
tutorial-horse.
The moral/lesson of this story is:
If you are a witch and can fly over the land, don't stop flying, to try and jump across a river! :D
I think that witches can’t pass over rivers. Maybe that’s Baba Yaga specifically though. If that’s the case, it would explain why she can’t go over the river
I'm a Filipino but I love to watch some folklores of other countries.. Specially Hungarian folk tales..... I appreciate all the stories you have. keep it up
Why did he need to get new clothes?
You don't want your sister to know you're a peasant. She dresses well for someone locked up.
New and nice clothes can be symbolic to a change in the spiritual status of the hero. I assume this is how he would qualify or show he is at the level to attempt his noble adventure.
When you save someone, save them with style
@@purplelion1000 lol
I have so many questions, I can't even begin..
"I will have all of your teeth" is such a weird threat to me. I realize dental care was very different back when these stories were being told, but normally it's "I'll have your head."
Oh. Phew! The ones I’ve picked up before usually had marriages. I’m so glad-I got scared for a second.😂
Aw. That was sweet of him to save his younger sister.😭🙌
Lmao same. I thought it was gonna be sweet home Alabama or somthin
I noticed some translation mistakes in this one:
- The witch is riding a fireplace poker - not a stick. Witches always ride household objects - brooms, fire irons, clothes irons, and so on. Objects that an old woman would actually use around the house. (A why that is forgotten by the time you get to Harry Potter.)
- "Magic stallions" confuses "táltos" with "táltos horse". "Táltos" is an individual born with surplus bones in their body (such as an extra finger or row of teeth) indicating their ability to do magic. In a broader sense, táltos is any being with an inherent magic talent, hence the word "táltos paripa (=stallion)", the magical steed that aids the hero. In this case it's much more likely that the old witch has magical servants who she formed a contract with and can summon at will, such as devils. Rather than he's got an army of horses.
Both of these can actually be seen in the animation.
This horse is wild. I wanna bring this horse with me into 2019
If they dont give you rights......*Steal them*
2020?
Lauren Hawes exactly! 😂🙏🏽
I am addicted as hell to these folk tales and my siblings keep teasing me for it 😂😂😭
If they don't stop , I will steal it
Okay what's his and his sister's story? Why did the witch catch his sister and why was he in a coffin as a babie? There must be something else about his parents
Its a confused amalgam of three different stories. The first one obiously being the Moses story from the bible, the other I believe ia called Beanstalk Jhonny in English, and the third where the magical horse comes from I dont remember the name of.
It's a folktale so parts of the story might have been lost over time.
Now I feel much afraid if any horse suddenly talk to me, telling me that I have a sister in a neighbouring country...
It's like the Horse version of those Nigerian prince emails 😂
Be more weary in case it tells you to rob a bank.
Maybe true sister just with different mother.
Anyone notice how he was told to hit the top, bottom, and middle, but the animator drew him hitting the top, middle, then bottom?
Indeed .

"Shone." Shone like a star.
That horse is very well informed
Who else loves the way they draw
season 1 and 2 are the best ones
3:46 You have young sister we shall bring back
if they won't allow take her from them, stole her
I think the best part about this series is that while half of the stories have a moral hidden in them, the other half is straight up just silly hehe
"One day, the horse spoke." Alrighty then.
I liked how the ocean became a fishnet. 😂
Damn this escalated quickly, at the beginning we have a poor student that wish to buy a horse and 6 min later he is fleeing from an elemental witch with 27 minions after rescue his sister in a flying talking dubious morals horse .
John after he saves his sister : I hope you like game of thrones. My favourite character is called Jamie
That is why I would never buy my son a horse that can talk.
What if you bought the horse but it started talking *after* you paid for it?
@@gothnerd887 I am not sure what I would do if that happened? I think it all depends on the returns policy of where I bought it?
Little John has gone super sayan.
The moral of the story is:
There is no moral. Its just a folktale
he's called Fisherman John, but i only ever saw him fish once
*Man:* Finds child in a coffin
_Automatically assumes child is alive_
Moral of the story: if he doesn't sell it, steal it!!!
Why am I upsessed with these dang Hungarian folk tales 😂
Back in the 900s I was in a very famous Hungarian tale!
♪♫♬
So how did John pay for his clothes...
The horse taught him to lie as well as stealing
Suddenly *27 MAGIC STALLIONS.*
plot twist: john had Schizophrenia.
He won’t sell it, steal it 😅 is this the motto 😂 but maybe the things he took are really owned by that horse😂
Well if they needed these things to go save his sister, I guess it’s justifiable. But even that’s a stretch. Why not just ride bare back?
When i watched all of the vids i think “Hungary is so weird”
I think the point of the story is to teach children to follow directions? The horse gives john a ton of questionable instructions but it was worth it in the end so that's my guess
Wonderful illustration!
Im 21 years old and im watching this😂😂 🤗👍👍
No jelly siblings,no killing or someone dying,no kings and queens,no prince and princesses,no witches cursing people and replacing queens and princessses with their ugly daughter. But out of all things.....
A talking horse who probably knows everything and teaches how to steal from people.
I think people are trying too hard to find a moral when there probably isn't one. Its about a boy who fights to free his sister he never knew he had and its got a talking horse, theft and a witch. Sounds like a wild tale you tell a kid to keep them engaged.
The description and the video are inconsistent; the video says she is his sister but it’s written she is his daughter. Very peculiar. A very fast paced story too, but enjoyable.
At least the boy and girl are both blonde for a good, believable reason...y’know, because they’re siblings
I wish I had that many options in life the horse gave him.
I live in szeged so gonna go to tisza now and catch that witch. XD
That horse is just trouble maker...😅😅😅
But that's hpw is it in reality of life...😎💰
Kick the door 3 times, if it doesn't open....steal it 😂
When someone is better at video games than me 4:39
How'd he get a sister?
Maybe the birth parents.
He's adopted
The horse knew that
samy lynch The horse told him to steal her. Thanks to the terrible peer pressure horse, John rapidly progressed from petty thrill crimes such as the ongoing klepto-equine proxy theft he kept on committing to the big leagues, i.e. kidnapping. All of which I’m sure the horse was enjoying in a voyeuristic, living through John vicariously kind of way that only a horse who seems to be up to no good can.
@@theresahall6197 The horse gave birth to his sister Jokingggg
well the old couple found him,so that means he is from the neighbouring country, and had a twin sister. It maybe also that the horse belong to john, and helen's parents, and that's how the horse might know
That old woman is priceless tho
Plot twist: John married his sister
So, where did the kids come from? and how did john pay for his own clothes? It doesn't make sense to me..
Anyone realized that girl lost her sleeve and next day she had it back...She must to be damn good dressmaker...🤔😉
Finnally i found the tale that i have watched and loved in my childhood
Super great animation on this one
Is nobody gonna talk about how John has yellow hair that makes him look like a sun
The girl wore a dress with a new sleeve the next time they went back... maybe life wasn’t so bad for her😅
1:12 it looks like he’s raving
Awww that's so cute XD
Wow! It’s so much more animated than before!
What a twist! i never knew witches can use sledgehammers to fly and use the brooms as a weapon. hahaha!!
Great story !
This art fire tho
THE STORY IS INCOMPLETE... HOW ABOUT THE PARENTS THEY SHOULD HAVE KNOWN AND SEE THAT THEY HAVE A DAUGHTER...
Uhh, correct me if I was wrong but I never saw John go fishing even once.
The moral of the story: Don't pick up babies from the river or they'll blow all your money on horses and clothes.
the horse must’ve been a god in disguise bro
In dont know why I expected them to marry! XD
السلام عليكم شكرا لكم ولجهودكم كل الكارتون المقدم حميل جدا ممكن الترجمة للعربية رجاءا دمتم بخير من العراق
Really beautiful!
Fisherman John steals?
*N O D I G N I T Y*
its tweek from south park!
Ok but why does the teacher's horse know all this??
Why are Hungarian folk Tales encouraging stealing? I heard another one where a princess is raising her skirts all for a pig! very inappropriate.
Lol is it more inappropriate than the original Snow White where they make the evil queen dance in red hot iron shoes till she died? Or how about the original Cinderella where the step sisters cut off parts of their foots and then have their eyes pecked out by birds? Or how about the original Sleeping Beauty where she was actually raped and then killed and cooked into a stew? Look my point is that pretty much all of fairytales are dark and messed up because that's the way the world was back then. They were also used to teach lessons. Don't fret over how things were so much.
well the red hot iron shoes was the punishment for all the horrible things that Evil Queen did to Snow White . Plus her attempts to kill Snow White and poisoning her. Cinderella's step sisters cut off their feet on their own volition. Though I wouldn't encourage people to chop parts of their feet to fit smaller shoes. Only one i feel that is really inappropriate was the original Sleeping Beauty because she was raped and the prince's mother or King's wife tried to have Sleeping Beauty and her children killed and cooked in a stew. BUT in the stories i have seen the cook always saved them and the Prince and King ended up killing his evil mother or wife.
I am not fretting.
Starmadien2019 to be fair those weren’t very popular as they were the Grimm brother tale, she’s the reason why there were and still are varying adaptations
@@tabitha6207
To be exact my friend the brothers Grimm scavenged the recesses of German, English, Dutch and many other European countries for their folk tale collection. They litterally took them from the public domain. And the real reason many adaptations are present is because of companies like the Disney corporation that steal characters and stories from the public domain and conform them to whatever fits their veiws which are more than usually biased as hell or changed to an unreasonable level. You're welcome and good day.
@@Starmadien2019 You forgot the original Red Hood where the wolf pours grandma's blood into wine barrels and cuts her to pieces, then fools Red Hood to eat and drink her own grandma. And the wolf eats the girl and thats the end of the story.
Did anyone else notice that he threw the apples in the wrong order from the commentary?
You can't just...FLY over the river the first 2 times, old woman?
I have a feeling this horse is related to Fred the Horse from "Over the Garden Wall"
Oh hey, it's wooden Peter again
This is very A L A B A M A
Guess what?

Apples gonna break a door a sword can’t
