So far, I am under the impression that Mnet gathered up the dumbest individuals they could, then got them drunk and made them the live audience. The live audience is ruining the show completely, they have gotten so much wrong. Even if I was hoping for a win for a team that had members I really like…..I know when a team has has done a superior job/performance. If they have another season, they need to stick to a judges panel of professionals like the Snap and Charismatic battles. Then open up to voting to the masses online. The 3-400 people of the in-house audience is just failing.

    • @vesavius
      @vesavius Год назад +21

It would have to be a panel of non idols though, or that would be awkward. But, yeah, an expert panel of 4 and give each a vote the equivelent of 100 audience members. Public votes left to their own devices are always a disaster.
Remember My Teenage Girl when Soyeon had to literally tell them off for being rubbish and to take it seriously? We need that energy.

it kinda makes me feel good how much my opinions are validated with your videos lmao
Bad Blood, despite the mistakes they made on the performance, and Web had nothing insteresting going on besides the technicalities and the ribbons. Like, yes, the ribbons are hard to dance with, but besides that being there, there was not a single other step that made me go wow, unlike the Overwater and Glow-Up performances. And clearing myself from biases, Queendom Team just had the better choreographies, which is funny considering Puzzle had the benefit of choosing the songs.
Is going to be so unfair if Queendom lose this round too (but lets be honest, why would the audience change biases there. I think MNET is just trying to give that fake expectation of a twist by not giving the results, but we all can see the results a mile away)

Right, I think they were too focused on the fire and ribbons respectively to realize that the choreos lacked substance :/ also I wish it wasn't so obvious that Puzzle team won but the manufactured suspense just makes it seem inevitable 🥴 it would have been way more exciting to hear that Queendom team won the first battle than to just not reveal it so there's only one conclusion to draw.... I do hope we're wrong though!

I liked Bad Blood but was disappointed with the screw ups, didn’t like the song Overwater to begin with but they performed it well. I was 50/50 with Web & Glow Up…I liked them both. I was surprised that Puzzel team took both dance, I expected Queendom team to at least win one.

Great review! I pretty much agree with you on the fact that Queendom team should win both of these battles because Queendom team showcased better teamwork AND skill. It seemed that both Puzzle teams were a bit on the edge the entire time, whereas the Queendom teams were relaxed the whole time.
Just to let you know, the title says Ep.5 instead of Ep.6 :)

And I think the editors see it, too. Puzzles screen time is all based on struggles in a "will xyz fail? Stay tuned!" way. While Queendom's shows their teamwork and how they figured everything out together. They don't fight, they don't nag, there is never a conflict of interests. They're so supportive of each other, giving great reactions even to their rivals. It's so sweet and heartwarming seeing them uplift their members after the audience disappointed them over and over. Such a shame they won't be able to pick each other on the next mission as you can see how strong their bond is.

As a fellow Orbit, I enjoyed yr review and ranking video so much, and you took the words outta my mouth. Ive always been the underdog stan, and despite having some favorites in the Puzzle team, Queendom team just so close to heart for me, and they speaks volume. They are not individualistic (Soojin noticeably volunteered to do the hard choreos, taking more parts in Weekend, cause she wanna contribute more to the team.) they carry the team well, they are very considerate (Fye said yes to Overwater despite wanting to go for Glow Up in the first place, and I just love the colors and chemistry of Queendom team on the stage.
Due to making it competitive, Puzzle team did bring about the competition side of the performance (Which was great as performer and they make good TV) but it always felt like they're pushed to the edge in order to make it WOW everytime. On the other hand, Queendom team always came across super comfortable on stage (Time of Our Life, Hopeless Romantic) enjoying the performance (Glow Up) and gave their all sincerely and it shows! (Overwater).
Knowing MNets and the audience always go for more popular members like Kei, Bora, Jiwon, Jihan, Nana, Yeeun, and Zoa, the votes are mostly heavily leaning towards those popular members. Fighting Queendom team!

the live audience has really been pissing me off. like obviously if you put a bunch of the nugu members in one group and the more popular members in another, the audience would vote for the people they know. it has been proven time and time again that live audience voted does not actually reflect the groups' talent. we've seen it in produce, mtg, and sixteen, it's so frustrating. i don't understand why they cant call up a panel of judges to come and give thoughtful judgement. i will never get over time of our lives losing over wannabe.
i'm not prepared for eliminations, i wish they would just keep all the contestants. i feel like there's still a lot we haven't seen from some contestants, maybe because of lack of opportunity but also because of editing. i noticed that they were really pushing soojin's situation to make sure people know that she has a lot of passion and works really hard which is great. but i feel like i haven't seen a lot of other people like chaerin and jooe. editing plays a huge role in the voting but what did i expect? it's mnet.
anywayys, here are my rankings for the all rounder battles:
    vocal/rap
hopeless romantic (they sang with so much emotion, it's been on repeat)
time of our lives (i loved their energy, esp with audience interactions)
    rush hour
    wannabe
    if we meet again
    weekend
    dance
    overwater
    glow up
    web
    bad blood
and my standouts from this round:
    hwiseo
    juri
    elly
    fye
    jiwoo

I believe the vocal & rap stages were filmed June 27, and the dances at June 28. How did I guess? During the Time of Our Life Performance (aka the ROBBED team), had the date 6.27 written on their polaroid so, I think it is enough clues to suggest that it was filmed then. I don't know exactly if the dances were filmed the day after, but I think it is, because when the girls were being interviewed about their vocal/rap stages, they were wearing their dance clothes.
Also, Zoa can kill me with her eyes anytime she wants.

I'm so sad, 'Bad Blood' was meant to be a legendary performance like 'Time of our life'. But now it's just good not legendary and I can't tell if it's 1. the Puzzle team choosing wrong members, 2. the plentiful mistakes or 3.Queendom team is just much more charismatic and would have suited the song more. Imagine Fye, Hwiseo, Dohwa, Juri, Miru, Elly the OG Snap team plus Yeonhee... Just imagine... the facial expression, the charisma... They wouldn't even need the extra fireworks /which I'm still salty about what about the other stages? At least some confetti???/

omg! i love your review. it's actually same as me. i think puzzle team choose bad blood and web because they using props for the choreography in the demo and of course it make them more looks interesting because it was the main point of the choreo but unfortunately it making them only focus on the props they use rather than the choreography they do. while the queendom team has the song that focuses on choreography and technique also more suitable for the members. like, overwater is inspired by the little mermaid and they have dohwa who has red hair like Ariel, soojin who could do the move that represents the mermaid that just exchange her tail into leg, fye who has blue hair which i think it's just represent the ocean and the rest of the members just represent Ariel's sisters. the glow up team has soeun, hwiseo, and elly which i think they are the black horse of this program and jooe, juri, yeonhee and chaerin that really good at making expression.

Something I feel like that’s gone unaddressed with this dance portion of the all-rounder round and the Re-mix battle round (and to an extent, 2/3 of QD2’s dance unit performances) are:
    • Mnet doing jank ass M!Countdown camerawork for pieces of artwork that need to be taken in and evaluated without, especially when it comes to dance
    • the choreography provided for this round seemed to be created with the idea that they would be performed with live singing (ngl I feel like this is why Monika’s choreo for Tell Me Now was so good; it focused on conveying the theme through dance mainly than the usual idol stage performance that focuses on more areas of performance (singing, dancing, rapping, facial expression, audience appealing, etc.) (“master-of-one” vs “master-of-none” kind of thing)
    • the audience having a below view of the performances/Mnet not giving, like, bleachers for the audience to sit in to watch the performances at a more leveled view (I think this is what screwed Only One over from getting in at least the top 2)
Although I feel like there should be a judge panel for these, I also feel like the live audience has been getting done dirty by Mnet’s staging choices and am somewhat fine with an audience voting system (I do think they should reduce the audience numbers though). Let’s look at what I think was the superior female idol competition show that I think Mnet got the idea of Queendom from: Girl Spirit. The show had an on-site, live voting system that comprised of a judge panel of 5 industry veterans and audience comprised of 100 people, most of which were studying music and aspiring to become musicians themselves. A portion of the audience were seated in an elevated area and the other portion were seated below but it wasn’t as if they had to tilt their heads completely up as the stage wasn’t far from the ground. Although the show was vocal-centric, the other/visual aspects of the stage performances definitely also contributed to each performers’ results. For a show that definitely had a handful of editing mistakes and definitely had a lower budget than Queendom, the quality of Girl Spirit is significantly better than any season of Queendom in my opinion.

After some deliveration I might add: I figure out that the reason Web is so underwhelming to me is because most of the members are too young to grasp a mature concept (by mature I don't mean non-cute, like mature). It's clear with the weird excess of lip biting and other gestures that they are trying too hard to fit the concept, and idk it's kinda uncomfortable for me. I just think older idols would have ate up the concept.

was NOT expecting the pixy recommendation but love to see it as a winxy!! i honestly agree with everything you said about queendom team having the better performances (even if glow-up is definitely the least listenable song). their teams were so balanced and everybody got their own spotlight, while the Puzzle team performances had members that were barely noticeable (kei, wooyeon, jihan, bora, and even yeoreum which is crazy to me). queendom team really deserves both wins for the dances and honestly the whole round because they were robbed of a win for time of our life. im interested to see how this elimination will go, because there are definitely contestants in my mind that i think are in danger, and i wonder if the benefits will help them at all.

I think I'm biased by having not watched Queendom 2 and also rooting for Yuki, but Web was super enjoyable for me! I do wish they did more webby choreo with the ribbons. Even though I see your point about the choreo not being interesting/challenging enough, I enjoy seeing everyone's charisma and performance. I thought Overwater was the best performance overall!

Malena is about a beautiful woman who is envied, lusted over and abused by her town once her husband is not in the picture. It's a really sad and upsetting movie. I dont know why they chose it to be the theme of the performance. Should just make it about Game of Thrones's Daenerys. Maybe they wanted to, but couldn't for some reason?

First off, Time of Our Life was robbed. Second, dance battles always make me cringe in these shows so I skipped that bit.
I think that no one wanted Overwater because it sounds too gentle and the live audience just responds better to meatier songs. It's a great tune though.
I am still not getting this Dohwa infatuation. She is good, sure, but to keep singling her out as being everything just confuses the hell outta me. I am not seeing it all. She hasn't been the MVP in any performance for me, hasn't had nay amazing moments, and an MNET arranged situation in practice doesn't make her 'chaotic'.
    Overall stage opions tho;
Bad Blood: It's hard to look past the mistakes here even if I honestly don't think that they are giving these girls enough time to practice for such complicated choreos. It's kinda hard to watch because at least 3 members of this are in my final 7 easily. But, yeah, even though the ladies did their best to style it out, it was a bit of a disaster. It should not win. Saying that, Wooyeon stood out the most for me overall.
Overwater: This was Soojin's stage, the rest were just dancing on it. She was glowing. Her redemption arc continues.Overall though, they all did well and I really like the noughties vibe of this song in general. The whole stage was really soothing and wholesome. It SHOULD win, but then I said that about 'Time of Our Life' and the voters let me down so badly. But this team does really need a win, so hopefully, justice is done this time.
Web: A solid beautifully lit stage that I really enjoyed, though with maybe a touch too much lip biting and lip licking going on for me. I mean, I don't mind any of that when used as a highlight, but too much can tip over into a bit cringe. None of the girls stood out individually for me here, despite 3 of my main picks being on stage. It's hard to pick a MVP... They all did well, but in a low key way. It's not my favourite to win though, have to say.
Glow Up: I had a lot of fun with this, from JooE struggling with her bubble in the intro to the Elly lift, it was a good time. I mean, it was like toddlers attempting to be gangsta, but even that was just really cute and enjoyable. I loved this team. I want to be friends with all of them. Oh, and yeah, this should win.

If i was a fan invited as a judge, i would want my fav to get the benefit and i would vote five times the same. If i was a fan of a group with members in both teams, i would know that however only one would get the points so i would pick a side and vote five times the same no matter what.

I'm 99% sure that the teams decided Kei and Bora should have lesser parts in the dance battle for fairness. They had a duet in the vocal battle. I think Bora had one center part for one line in Web, and Kei only had two or three center parts in Bad Blood.
