I love the Chiefs, but as long as we have a MASSIVE homeless problem and veterans living under bridges the country shouldn't pay one dime for a stadium that the Hunts can afford on their own. That threat to move the team really pisses me off. It's unethical and immoral as long as people are suffering. Especially veterans and people on SSI.

While yes I would like to know if it is gang related I only want to know if there is proof not just speculation. And it might surprise some of those commenters but not all black teens or young adults, especially boys/men, are in gangs. We can’t stereotype people. We’re better than that.

Not being from Kansas, Nick explained the dynamics more of the city. I'm Canadian & I've bin privied 2c many States in the U.S!!! Cdns in general travel much more than Americans. Ironically the last place I've bin 2 is KC. Compared 2 growing up, the U.S. has drastically changed in the # of gun violence & mass shootings & w/ the AR-15s etc I watched the parade/rally live & of course the shooting!! Its hard 4 us Cdns 2 understand the access easy access 2 guns & the permits 2 carry & kind of that military grade rifles ppl can buy?!?! I can honestly say, IT'S JUST NOT sumthing we EVER think abt or crosses our minds at ANY event!!! I wz deeply saddened by this outcome. But I am saddened & don't get why ppl continue 2 say its not a gun problem but a ppl problem?! Its NOT like we don't hve criminal behavior, or that there's no gang violence. SO, I just don't get how access to guns continues 2b minimized. I saw 1 player gve an interview, wks later & wz sad 😭 that he said the same thing. That it wz a ppl problem & not a gun problem?!?! I love the U.S.!!! My late dad instilled in us 2 value the U.S.& how they were more than our neighbors but our allies & that we'd be in severe trouble w/o the U.S. & ur military if we were ever in trouble w/ our National Security!!! Canada does hve a larger middle class population which affords us the luxury of traveling & we did so mostly by car!!! Ironically I've seen more of the U.S than I hve of my own country!!! Sorry I know this is long. I've just bin sad by the increase in gun violence over decades!!! Those who've grown up w/ school shootings don't know any different. But I'm old enough that we never worried abt that traveling & I didn't whn I started traveling as an adult. Columbine had happened but it still wz nothing like the last decade or so?!?! I recall thinking how I wld've loved 2 hve driven down 2 Kansas 4 the parade!!! I'm directly north of KC & surprisingly u can get there fast. I think we drove only 1 interstate?! Canada is much larger & can take much longer whn u go. I noticed Cdns holding a sign during the Dolphins wild card game.

@@tammyboon6259 A few things: 1) Kansas City is in Missouri hopefully you know but want to correct for anyone else reading. 2) we don’t have military grade weapons available to us legally. AR-15 are SEMIAUTOMATIC rifles, one pull one bullet, like all rifles available. They make look scarier but they operate the same way. 3) YES we have a people problem. Access to gun and wide scale gun ownership is nothing new it is the mass shootings and terrorist activity that is new. The biggest two changes in America are she isn’t a Godly country anymore and the fatherlessness epidemic. These two have converged to create a culture were some boy and young men, not having a father, look to culture or peers or anyone who is willing to take a interest in them for understand how to be a man. Even those who have a father father’s have been so neutered by today’s culture of divorce that their sons look to the music, movies and TV entertainment industries to guide them. Gun culture is fine if one has the internal restraint God gives otherwise it is a nightmare.
People must be restrained either from the inside by God or the outside by Government. The former is easier but far too many times, as history has shown us, people opt for the latter. And NO GOVERNMENT can restrain the evils inherent in the human heart without brute force.

I always vote no on these, on principle. Its insane to have citizens foot the bill for what is essentially a business. It's irrelevant they bring us entertainment. We pay for it as we go. They make money, they get tons of tax incentives.

I live in Jackson county, I honestly don’t mind the tax bill they’re trying to pass since it’s essentially the same one we’ve had for years. But what I don’t like is that they’re doing this ultimatum crap with “vote yes or we’ll possibly leave KC” that’s just some bullshit. Kinda a middle finger to the face of everyone in KC and especially Jackson county since they’ve been paying it all for years even when the team was the worst in the league.
The stadium is owned by the county and leased to the Chiefs, so the landlord has to take care of their property.

It extents the tax until 2064. So things do change. We are still paying for the last tax agreement way before it is fulfilled. I think that threatening to leave Kansas City before we have all benefited from the last tax agreement is blackmail and not negotiating in good faith from a billionaire who has had incredible support from the tax paying fans. Good faith would be negotiating without threats to a fan base that has been like no other in the NFL.

Well looking at what little has been released about Arrowhead, it appears nearly all the upgrades are going to make the high-roller spaces more luxurious. Sorry. It is already cost prohibitive to the average fan to attend a game. Why would I want to keep paying taxes to fund that?
I don't think you've read the document on how this works. You're paying the taxes regardless its just a matter of 3/8ths of a percent of those retail taxes being held in an account to fund this. Do what you want but it helps to read before thinking you know everything.
The Hunt family needs to come up with more than a third of the money. St. Louis did lose two teams due to owners wanting more than they were willing to put in. Bill Bidwell of the Cardinals and Stan Kroenke of the Rams respectively. Careful how you tread Kansas City, Missouri, Jackson County.

Yeah, it’s looking more & more like that’s what’s going to happen. I’m ok with that, though the Chiefs could use that money at other positions. I’m more hopeful that L’Jarious gets a good offer. I’d hate to see him miss a 3 or 4 year contract at 19-20 million a year because he wants to be the highest paid player. If he plays on the tag, he’ll be 28 going into the next free agency period & I doubt he’s going to get a better offer than that. I just hope the advice his people are giving him is sound.

I don’t understand why Jackson County has to bear the brunt of the tax for the stadiums. I feel like Clay, Platte, and Johnson counties should all split the cost/tax. We’re all part of the “Kingdom”! I understand the politics involved doesn’t allow for multiple counties and states to vote on this finding proposal but it’d be cool if we could all share the cost. I also understand that people from other counties will pay the sales tax when purchasing things in Jackson Co but I live in Jackson Co so the vast majority of groceries and gas I buy are under this tax. Makes me remember living in Minnesota where groceries are not taxed at all! Seems like a trade off like that could help too. Like eliminate tax on groceries in exchange for the tax for the stadiums. I feel like Jackson Co has the largest population of low income households, so this is a tough brunt to bear for us. I’ll still probably vote yes cause I love both the Chiefs and the Royals but not a guaranteed yes vote for me.

Meh, part of the problem right there is you say "Johnson county" and I know you mean ks but Warrensburg is not too far from KC and it's in Johnson county, MO. The stadium belongs to the county, not the Hunts. As expensive as things are, it's crazy that people still willingly vote for tax increases or in this case to maintain this existing tax for another 3+ decades.

Sorry, but I'm against the relocation. The chiefs don't play at Arrowhead every single game, same goes for the Royals at Kaufman. They don't interfere with one another. Plus, by the time the chiefs start their season, the royals are close to finishing theirs. Even if the royals make the playoffs (which I'm still skeptical about this season), it doesn't add that many more home games. I'd rather the stadiums be away from the city instead of in it.

I followed the team for 35 years in town and the last 5 years from 400 miles away, so I have no bias to or for any county or location here…
Them buying the stadium gives them all rights. No votes for a decision anymore. They can leave and take the stadium with them. We are not only voting for the team but possibly voting to keep voting for this.
