Ski Chamonix: Remote Work VLOG

  • My final week of working remotely in Europe to increase my ski season takes place in Chamonix, France. I've been here before and my major criticism is the layout of the mountain. It's split up, so you have to drive to different bases to enjoy all of the terrain. But I'll discuss that in a later video. Here, I'm just trying to find some fun runs because the week started out warm with slushy snow. But any time on the mountain during a work day is a bonus. The trick is always to stay as close to the base of the ski area as possible and find as inexpensive accommodations as possible.

Thanks so much! Fortunately, we got some pow the last day. Better than slush the whole time!

Duuuuuuuude. last year when Is started watching your videos last year looking into Chile. ( which, by the way was INSANE . Valle nevado was entirely covered in snow . I'm looking into doing a round 2 this year with more people. I want to know more about this trip though since im working remote too!

It's such a great way to get tons of time on the mountain. Just a matter of planning early to find the cheapest options and if you're going to more than one resort, finding some that are close together to make the transition day easier. And then it's just dealing with the work schedule, like using a lunch break to grab a quick dinner, or check out a night time activity!

Inspiring VLOG … as for the solo filming I can definitely relate … sometimes you just wish to have your cameramen’s crew and self flying drones … anyway maybe some ski content creator collaboration would do it … let me know if somebody also would need help with their filming …

We have plans to go to 3 valleys after Xmas - not looking forward to the traffic. Any tips to avoid other than not drive on Saturday?

My tip would be to leave ultra early if you're driving during French school holidays. In this video, I left around 7-8 am and still got stuck for a bit. My friends left Tignes on a Saturday the week before to catch a flight in Geneva (about a 3 hour drive) and their bus left at 3:30 am! They didn't hit any traffic. You'd probably be safe leaving around 5 am.

@@SkiBoyNY. thanks for the tips. Sounds brutal. I’ve never done the week between Xmas and new years but unfortunately it’s the only time our friends from USA have to meet us in alps

@@cravetheplanet Ah, Xmas and NYE - I'm guessing the traffic won't be as bad then and in Feb. Yes, it's the school holidays, but my sense is that the mad rush to the mountains typically occurs during Feb. Hopefully!

Have you ever had to work overtime when skiing in Europe? And when you have to stay up late, do you cut down on the skiing the next morning or still go out at 8.30 am like all die-hard skiers do? 😂

Fortunately, I haven't been that swamped at work any of the times I've been in Europe. I've definitely worked until about 12:30 am a couple of times, but because they were one-off events, I was able to get out by 8:45 am. The only time I couldn't get out there early was the first night in Italy this year, when my friends and I were so fried from the redeye flight that we ended up talking until 6 am Europe time! I got out at 1 pm the next day.
