What are the tips made of? If you’re always having to play with things underneath it pretty solid, couldn’t it eventually cause wear and tear on the darts until they can’t penetrate the can anymore? Although you could sharpen it.

You’re spot on depending on playing surface and how hard you throw them.
Luckily they hold up pretty well so unless your throwing daily it would likely be a long time before you had to
