it would have been better if, instead of getting triforce pieces, you get a specific weapon in each area, and then you need to use that weapon to get through/enter the dungeon. This would be much more like "old" zelda than simply a big long fetch quest: "fetch 40 triforce pieces lol"
it was actually the first idea I had. but due to various problems with the mod tool I was unable to do so. the idea of the triforce fragments came to me because I couldn't insert doors and puzzles into the dungeons which therefore left only the enemies inside. now that my knowledge has increased I'm thinking of creating a project that looks at the classic idea of a zelda. However I still can't get the locked doors to work with the keys.
@@TureModder-l9k perhaps the different divine beast powers can each become a key of sorts to get past an obstacle to enter a dungeon, where you cannot pass that obstacle without it? Nice work with what you did though, its different and interesting :)
@@BrainboxccGames mmh i can't change the game, i can only reskin it. there isn't obstacle you can pass only with the devine beast ability. but i have something in mind to make sheika tool a key item. but i need more time than a month this time.
@@NyxieRqse yes I can. the doors work. they are the keys that do not work outside the shrines. even if you take it it's as if link doesn't take anything.
“Electricity in a water area is evil” Bro thats just what the base game does in the path up to Zoras domain. The casual playthrough of Zora is probably the closest experience to what this mod is: a close together string of enemy encounters in a more linear area boxed in by a mechanic that prevents climbing. Something that still allows the player to tackle the situations differently, it’s just more railroady when compared to the rest of the game. This mod proves that although the open world of BOTW is its definitive strongest suit, the formula doesn’t break when the world is more restricted: in fact it creates new opportunities.
You'd expect if they got rid of the open world they'd replace it with linear levels, but for most of these it seems a tad confusing on where you're supposed to go or do. That first level still has the "explore and fight different difficulties of enemies for loot" feel that the main game has, just in a much more restricted area. The second and third feel more railroaded, but like you said its hard to know if you're going the right way or not.
It looks like it proves the opposite to me; this experience looked really bland and boring. It proves to me that the traditional formula, on its own, would not work in Breath of the Wild's gameplay. It may work to find a proper combination between the two, but a full on linear, path-driven Breath of the Wild does NOT look enjoyable to me.
I like it in games when there are large open areas in different sections of the game, but they're not all connected all the time so story progression can still be linear.
What I would love to see would be a mod to actually get multiple artifacts from past games… Masks, instruments and even swords with special powers. Need to turn on 4 switches? No need for your cellphone and boulder, just draw the Four Swords; Need to enter a ruined temple? Just turn time with the Harp of Ages; Need to jump higher? Get the Hero Cap; Use the medallion from ocarina of time or ALttP for gameplay(spells) AND unlocking purpose(like an altar to access the ruins of the temple of time where you would gain access to either to those bracelets form ALbW(to get to specific enclosed Lorule locations)or minish runes(to access the miniature world). This world is so huge but it’s got nothing “Zelda” in it; it’s such a waste and I find it sad.
I respect the tremendous work behind the mod. But for me this looks like a completeley downgrade from the game. Just thinking about BoTW/TotK being restricted gives me chills, in a bad way
I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't most Zelda Games open world? So it's not like they changed the formula or anything :/ they just further expanded on the world they had made. Sure there were loading scenes for certain areas like dungeons and whatnot in older games, but they were still open world games for their systems. Good video! Just confusing and misleading intro 😕
not exactly. There are several Zelda games where you can tackle at least some of the game's events in a nonlinear fashion (Zelda 1, A Link to the Past, A Link Between Worlds, Ocarina of Time etc.) Most of the series would aim closer to a Metroidvania style, where specific item acquisitions and story progression was absolutely required in order to access further locations. Games like The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess might seem open-ended at a passing glance, but their structure is heavily guided until a good amount through the main story
I can only speak for OoT and MM but they are not open. OoT is a bit more open and bigger than MM but they are not fully open. You can't go to Zoras Domain in OoT before you got bombs (which you get in Dodongos Cavern, fairly close to the end - and who leaves a dungeon to use the item in a different area befofe finishing the boss anyhow). You can't get to Dodongos Cavern before talking to Zelda. You CAN go to the lost woods, Lon Lon farm, Kakariko and Lake Hylia but there are only sidequests waiting. As an adult you are free to go anywhere except the desert but you can't get to the water temple before visiting Zoras Domain and you can't enter the Forest Temple before getting the Hookshot. All the time you are guided by NPCs and Navi reminding you of their words and a blinking Map marker.
Depends on the game. I'd say the 3D Zelda games that aren't BotW and TotK are extremely linear, honestly frustratingly so in my humble opinion. The 2D/top-down Zelda games tend to be less restrictive.
there is the fourth beetle that sell unbrekeable weapon. in the video is not show. are very expensive for create a sort of progression but are very optional
Can't say BotW is aimless. In the beginning, your task is to find the towers Most of which are clearly visible from a previously discovered tower and you make your way there. You are bound to find new places with NPCs who give you quests Some lesser quests and some main quests. You also have the shrines which you will want to seek because they not only give you strength but also serve as fast travel destinations. The survival aspect was a bit overdone imo. Searching for specific weapons or items to cook with or to use to enhance your armor is a lot of aimless roaming indeed. It was cool on the great plateau, having to hunt to survive but when a royal broadsword only lasts 2-3 times longer than a club I found under a tree, there's an issue. But that's an issue with that mechanic, not with open world
it would have been better if, instead of getting triforce pieces, you get a specific weapon in each area, and then you need to use that weapon to get through/enter the dungeon. This would be much more like "old" zelda than simply a big long fetch quest: "fetch 40 triforce pieces lol"

this is just botw but with mario sunshine progression

I was hoping this would make BotW into a normal Zelda game (i.e. ability gating) but this is far more linear than that. Ah well, it's still cool.

I disagree. You can do dungeons out of order, yes, but the map is a set of incredibly linear hallways.
