Hey, folks, I realized I used the wrong call sign for Bob Bruninga... he was actually WB4APR. I updated the slides, so if you download the slide deck from RATPAC you should get the correct call sign.
Path settings for APRS are NOT the same as for packet. APRS uses a flood fill algorithm and generic path values like WIDEn-N. In packet radio, you would typically be routing via specific stations... you don't do that in APRS. APRS also overloads the "destination" address field to encode the particular type of equipment (radio/TNC) you're using instead of specifying a destination call sign.
