. One of the All-Time Greats ! Especially after hearing Doug Scott's assessment of him in the Himalaya as a rope-mate and World Class Mountaineer of the 'Golden Age' of High altitude expedition style the Brits developed... Taken from the 'Mountain Life' to early... .
Sounds like a very unpleasant person to climb with and to know in general; a climbing legend nonetheless. Amazingly interesting documentary thought, thanks for sharing.
Guy at @22:30 is the worst speaker i have ever heard. He softly mutters broken sentences, a word at a time each word softly, imperceptibly hinted at with no articulation whatsoever, his lips and jaw fixed in place, trying his best to mutter at the lowest volume possible. They should have left him out of the documentary entirely.
Yeah, should have left Big Eley Moriarty out of a documentary about his best mate... here he is talking in his own accent, perfectly comprehensibly if you make an effort, about an awful accident that killed a young man, shaped Haston's life and where he (Moriarty) was a passenger in the van Haston was driving. Who better to talk about it?
Thanks so much for uploading this. I'm sure it's the documentary I missed when it first came out, and have been looking for periodically ever since!
I still have my Dougal Haston Alpiniste rucksack. He was my hero and this video show why.
Another one here in Italy!!! (Dolomites) Bulletproof rucksack, fantastic purple KS-100e material... when Karrimor was serious...
I've got the earlier Haston Vallot in red. They've stood the test of time!
One of the old guard. Brilliant hard climbers.
A Hard Man.
RIP, Dougal.
Thank you❤
Thanks for sharing.. Great post!
Dougal Haston, your achievement in Mountaineering, went as far as The Special Territory of Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
Great this, thanks for uploading it. Read Haston's book years ago.
Would love to hear more from Jimmy Marshall.....

He is a key witness. Maybe subtitles would have been an idea.
@@dannychurch7223 yes, subtitles. Clearer foreign english speakers get subtitled and i know he is not foreign.
@@goognamgoognw6637 He's Scottish you plank
The sound quality is abysmal
So are whingers.
