A childhood fantasy reimagined. Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth is in every a perfect example for a masterpiece as much as it is for a dumpster fire. But looking back at it all I can remember are the good moments and how much I enjoyed this game. It's not perfect, it tries too much and for every step this game takes forward it stumbles on the way. But what sets this game apart is the fact that it makes the stumbles part of the dance and keeps blasting forward with a momentum that is unstoppable. While there are a lot of things I wish the game did differently, I can't deny that this game is a breath of fresh air and is one of the best games in a long time and a very strong contender for Game of the Year compared to everything I have played so far.

Amazing review. Little late to the party though. I wish this review was available at the launch of the game. I think it truly encapsulates everything I feel about the game.
