    Great video! First time viewer here, thanks for explaining about the screens and cleaning them. I'm very interested in the antifungal spray you use. I'll look above for any mention of brand.

    😂 LOL! Thanks for your honesty on the taste of chia microgreens 😝 My chia microgreens are on day 5 now and I just use paper towel as a water control as here in Indonesia is pretty humid. So, how’s the screen that you use can prevent fungal ?

    From your experienced point of view: Would you say it is possible to use some kind of metal grid for this setup? Or would titanium etc still rust or give off "chemicals" after prolonged use, since it permanently touches water?

    • @C3Voyage
      @C3Voyage  3 года назад

      My experience trying metal screening was how hard it was to lie flat, how often it cut me, and the concern that daily contact with nutrients could cause metal toxicity. It's also less flexible.

    You inspired me to do a mini version of your process. I use 5*5 Bootstrap Farmer (non mesh) containers with dehydrator mats in the bottom.
    Since it is just for our family, I don't need big trays. Instead of one big tray I will usually do 3 or 4 trays of different microgreens.
    Once harvested, I can toss the small trays and mats in the dishwasher alongside the regular stuff.
    Are you adding any nutrients to the water?

      @@C3Voyage Are you using Ocean Water, and how often? ...I haven't bought any yet.
      I bottom water with Masterblend at the recommended mixture for tomatoes one time about four days in. I am thinking that might be too strong. It seems to make the microgreens grow stockier and too green 🤔. Prob a goofy experiment but I couldn't help myself to see what would happen.

    • @C3Voyage
      @C3Voyage  3 года назад +1

      @@jimjam36695 No, Masterblend walter-soluble mixed to directions on bag. In my experiments, 1/2-strength to 2x Masterblend works with many typical micros.

    I grew Chia seeds once and like you did not like the taste. But now I'm wondering what they could be mixed into/with to make them more pleasant? I would think something with a good, but strong flavor.

    • @C3Voyage

      Might be worth a shot. They're very easy to grow. Sort of like eating pepper by itself. Might have to find a marriage to make it better, eh?

    do you use a bottom water system in pots similar to microgreens or do you just water straight into a pot with nutrient solution every time? Thanks.

      @@brentmontgomery849 Do you use nutrient solution for any potted plants I meant?

    • @C3Voyage
      @C3Voyage  3 года назад +1

      @@Louis-lw7ix Hummm. Still a tad confusing so I'll answer both possible ways. My wife has potted plants in the house. She occasionally uses a solution of Miracle Gro to water those plants. Easier for her to use that powder. Outside in my containers, I use fertigation where water-soluble fertilizer is mixed with household water via that injection system for every watering event. That outside system is explained in this video: ruclips.net/video/SMUZxWePjSk/видео.html

      What he was asking was if there was water under the mesh? Or was it a dry bottom to catch the sprayed water or antifungal? Want to try too. So kindly reply. You have raised my hopes in chia greens for tea.

    I am interested in buying your cutting board with handle to weigh down the seed tray. Do you sell those? I see that you have chef cutting board on amazon for sell but I want one that's already cut and put together with handle. If not, please advise how would I go about getting one or possibly making it myself but would prefer just buy one already made. Thank you.

    • @C3Voyage
      @C3Voyage  2 года назад +1

      Hi Mandie, I use a 1" Bootstrap Farmer solid tray as the cover now with IHG. I use fractional weights as the weight on top. You can go here www.webstaurantstore.com/18-x-24-x-1-2-green-cutting-board/20318245GN.html to find the ones I used to use. Simply cut as you would wood. Take a leftover piece to place on top with a stainless steel screw to make the handle. I'm sorry, I don't make them any longer.
