The problem wasn’t only that the taxes where high, but they were paying taxes to a government (British) in which they had no representation. The British were not taking over, they were already in control. The colonists believed they should not be ruled, pay and serve people and get nothing in return- not even having the ability to govern themselves and create their own laws. The British parliament refused to give the colonies representation in the government that they were ruled by, so they decided they wanted to break away and become their own country.

I am a descendant of native Americans and I can give you some information about one of the tribes when they interacted with Europeans, The mohawk tribe: -they scalped people -one of their tribe leaders was at one point also a British general -it has been said they might of been cannibals The Europeans also had scalped people might I add, If I'm correct not 100% solid but I believe the mohawk tribe helped the british in the revolutionary war. Oh, also most of the tribe was slaughtered. Good day :)
