To be honest you can just melt some chocolate in the microwave and put it in a water bath to keep it warm, buy some molds for about £5 then pour your own from a piping bag and that would be better than the first kit.

True but it would have to be compound chocolate, or chocolate without cocoa butter 👍 which means it doesn’t need tempering ( being brought from melting point to room temperature) to hold its shape when it’s at room temperature
Candy melts specifically for stuff like this is easily obtainable from any supermarket, craft store, or baking supply store!
Exactly! I've actually made boxes of homemade chocolates for holiday gifts before and definitely didnt spend $40. I used frosting tubes (bags) to do detail work- the heat of it being in my hand, kept it melted enough to finish what I needed
Literally: go to dollar store to get chocolate, and plastic baggies. Molds ; also probably buyable there. And cheaper … but probably better quality

Hey Jacki, you should try the Crayola Hanging Planter Craft Kit. I got it as a present and had a lot of fun with it. And it did include almost everything I needed. The only thing that was missing was varnish. You should really give it a shot.

If I remember correctly when she asked if nail polish could cause an allergic reaction because it has parts of metal in it, some said it could, but I do think it mostly occurs with ones that have glitter. So maybe this nail polish didn't cause an allergic reaction because it doesn't have glitter???

This chocolate pen seems like one of those crafts that actually does the opposite of inspiring creativity. It's like it's so frustrating and unhappy-making that a person would never choose to explore the world of chocolate craft beyond this. Sad.
This kit really made me want to get some molds and make chocolate... but with a tooth pick instead of a fancy pen. Even the heating compartment, one of the kit's main features, just seems less useful than melting the chocolate in the traditional way.
@@StarrNOM The only thing I like about the heating thing is that it seems to keep it melted while you're working. But those corners are wasteful, and if you're not using all four bays, would they start to burn out and warp?

I got one of these for my daughter for Christmas last year, and she was super excited to use it. We put the entire pack of chocolate in the warmer, and whatever we didnt use we could just leave in the warmer and lift the piece off to put in the fridge for next time. All in all, you can just use the pen for the fine parts, you dont need the tool, just shake the molds after filling to get the air bubbles out. I thought it was a cute activity for my daughter, who was 4, and she loves it still, but it is a lot of cleaning up for the small amount of results, if they arent eaten immediately after being made. We like it but not for $40!
My fiancé and I bought one of these “expansion packs” at toys r us for like $3 when they were going out of business. It had refill chocolates and some molds. We got the hot water to melt and just snipped a tiny corner in the bags, and just did it that way. Didn’t need the pen, and it was a lot of fun.
We also used a shallow cup to keep them warm with the hot water in it.
I think without the pen, just the chocolates and the mold by themselves was quite a bit of fun, but you don’t need to have the pen or any of this stuff really.

If you add flavoring, use candy Oil. Flavorings with water will cause your chocolate seize (gets clumps). You can relax the clumps with a few drops of veg oil, heating and stirring it in.

for the firt kit i would just get normal syringes for getting the chocolate in them and a metal straw cleaner (its a thin brush made for small gabs like metalstraws) for the heating thing i would use a single cooking plate on the lowest heat, getting small- heatsafe glassbowls and getting your own chocolate. foodcolour is optional. for molds, just using silicone molds, easy to get online and mire sturdy than thoe pastic things.
Im sick of seeing Raid adds but at the same time i love that they sponsor so many creators, both small and large. Its great.

SO! my aunt is actually a professional baker and when she wants to do super fine details using chocolate melts, she actually just takes parchment paper and makes a very small pastry bag out of it. Like as small as possible. Then she just cuts the corner off to the size that you need. They have items out there though that are much easier to use for fine details out there that are more like little squeeze bottles that can fit in the palm of your hand.

Hi Jackie & Sika! My husband was next to me while I was watching this video & straight away ordered the chocolate pen for me, I must've been making excited noises! Anyway, I didn't realise he'd done this till a few days later when Amazon knocked the door, I was so chuffed! Top husband points! Then today I find that he's ordered lots of other melty & drippy things in various flavours for when the kit's ingredients have fun out! The chocolate pen changed so much over the years! It never had auto fill. It was just the bags and they where put in the pen and it squeezed it out. It was so much harder. I love the new updates
I wish me and my sister had this kind of relationship despite that we weren't raised together in the same house. Was basically raised as a single child, with a 'half' sister I only saw during summers and holidays :/ and I'm sure it didn't help we are 9 yrs apart.

I've never heard a RUclipsr cuss, but when u said a word my mom was like "WHO SAID THAT!"
In my experience as a nail tech with foil...you need a water-based top coat to keep the foil.effect so the top dries...if you use a "regular" nail polish over the foil, this will crack and lost the "oil-slick" effect and will take ages to dry...i know is for kids but teenagers and grown-ups can use a UV gel top coat to stick the foil, and cure it under the LED lamp :)

funny story when the first chocolate pen came out (when I was around 3-4, it was 2015 I THINK) my mum bought it for me and my older brother. well she waited too long because me and my brother opened the box and ate the chocolate... all of it.... so we didn't get to play with the chocolate pen lol
